Avatar n tn t called the cops) But nothing I do can wake him up. So usually I have to just wait for him to roll over in his sleep which can take up to an hour or I just fall asleep laying halfway off the bed. Does anybody know whats going on with him? Could this be a form of Sleep apnea or sleep paralysis?

Avatar f tn I experienced sleep paralysis for the first time last night. It was absolutely terrifying. I couldn't wake up no matter how hard i tried and when I was about to wake up I would be dragged right back into the horrible dream I was having Is anyone else experiencing sleep paralysis for the first time while pregnant.
Avatar n tn I do the same thing and its scary as hell..Its like u try to wake up and u can't...I kno excatly how u feel, Belive me...But it makes me feel 100x better that someone has expiernced it..Not that I would ever wish it upon anybody..
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, there is no practical way to decipher between normal REM sleep and sleep paralysis. This is because in normal REM sleep you experience the same paralysis as in sleep paralysis; the only difference is your level of consciousness at the time. So there's no way to develop a sensor that an app could use to address this issue. This also may be of interest to you: I have a service dog whose primary task is medical alert.
Avatar n tn i can see but not hear and i am unable to breathe. i have kind of gotten used to it. sometimes i can wake/start breathing by concentrating hard on exhaling. which leads me to believe that it is connected in my case to the sleep apnea which i have also had for quite a while.
Avatar n tn Sleep paralysis occurs when you may go to sleep or may tend to wake up from sleep. It is a temporary phenomenon where you are incapable of moving your body or even part of it physically but keep trying to shout loudly or seek someone’s help. It may be lasting for a few seconds to minutes. It can repeat once again if you sleep and there is no physical injury to body, but you will be probably frightened with sweating and increased heart beat with shortness of breath.
Avatar f tn s did not pay attention to how long it was for but id say about 2 to 5 minutes that i was lying there not able to move a muscle or talk
Avatar m tn Your symptoms could be due to sleep paralysis. Disorders related to dreaming could occur with REM sleep behavior disorders. Here the person acts out the dreams. Your symptoms of seeing things could also be due to sleep disorders “Nightmare” or "Night terror" disorders . Here the person experiences symptoms of bad, frightening dreams which interfere with his sleep schedules.
Avatar n tn If I wake my boyfriend up, he will wake up but his still talking and acting like his dreaming. He sometimes doesnt "wake up" for 20 mintues even though his eyes are open. It kind of freaks me out. Was wondering if anyone knew what this is or experiences it.
Avatar n tn My inability to move, scream for help, open my eyes while asleep are becoming more frequent. I am really concerned because once I finally awaken, my heart rate is very high and I am starting to have panic attacks after awakening. I realize what is happening but can not "pull out" of my sleep. I am afraid to go to sleep at night now and my husband does not sleep well either because he is worried that I am going to have "sleep paralysis" and wants to be able to wake me up.
568812 tn?1379165794 But at some point I started looking up on the internet, found out about sleep paralysis and read up whatever articles I could find. The ones I found most reassuring where the articles that had a scientific/medical base and left out the supernatural element. Also I learned the parlysis part is natural when the body gets into REM mode. What isn't quite natural is that you are awake durring that REM stage. That's why you may get hallucinations in that time.
Avatar f tn This doesn't happen overnight, but at least once a week. I go to sleep and during a dream, I wake up but my body is still sleeping. I can hear everything going on around me, but my body isn't awake.I try to move or scream so my husband will wake me. I hear myself making noises, or feel myself moving, but it really isn't happening. It lasts for maybe 30 seconds or up to a minute. When I do wake up, I am very scared.
Avatar n tn what makes sleep paralysis happen? what can i do to reduce the risk of suffering sleep paralysis? what medication is avalible for this disorder? how effective is it? how does it help? i would be very gratefull to hear off you.

Avatar m tn s like that my body start to paralyse and i go in deep sleep and then it holds me tightly pushing me in crushing way my heart beat faster but because i am use to it i relax myself when it comes and i fight it back and trying to twist it break it, even if i wake up and sleep straight away it will come back like 9 times in one night I have to totaly get awake and change my sleeping position, look if u have it in bad way and u scare to get u worse ask for someone who have big knowledge in islam onl
Avatar m tn Remember the passing of time is not real in this state, what can feel like an eternity can be only a few minutes, so ride with it. You will not asphyxiate - shortage of oxygen will trigger you to wake up and break the paralysis. Your chest muscles are very hard to move so it feels like you are being choked but you are not. You are just in a dream state and in a normal state of paralysis, evolved probably to stop us acting out our dreams.
2038180 tn?1329861306 Last night as i was going to sleep i just felt terrified, i knew that clearly its something in your head thats happening during the REM cycle or whatever, but i was still extremely scared to actually fall asleep, that when i finally did, i was pretty much waking up within every hour, i think my body was doing it so that on purpose because of how frightened i was to go into REM sleep and have that horror wash over me again, that my body would wake up constantly not allowing me to go into that s
514704 tn?1228312637 I feel you might be probably suffering from a kind of sleep disturbance known to be sleep paralysis, which occurs when you go to sleep or tend to wake up. It is a temporary phenomenon where in you feel incapable of moving your body or part of it physically but keep trying to shout loudly or seek someone’s help. This may last for just a few seconds to minutes and can repeat once again if you sleep.
Avatar f tn t exhausted and you might have them less. Also relax about it, and instead of trying to wake up try to go back to sleep. When I do that I find it easier to wake up. It's hard not to panic during it, but you are safe and it is okay.
Avatar n tn I have been suffering with hypnopompic Sleep Paralysis- I wake up, usually from a day-time nap, unable to move or talk. I always brushed it off as a dream until it lasted for about an hour, I fell on the floor and was found there. During this time of Paralysis i got overheated, excessive sweating, and couldnt stop biting my tongue. These episodes have started up again recently, and occur more often. Does anyone know if this a side effect of any of the above medications.
Avatar n tn Every couple of months i keep waking in my sleep or so i think and i can see a little boy, An older lady and recently a very scary man with a top hat, i can never see there faces but i can not move at all in my dream and sometimes i just fall asleep and can see what is happening in front of me but cannot move, for example if im having a nap on the settee and the tv is on i no whats happening, and can even see my daughter and partner but i cant talk move or anything it is freaking me out, especia
Avatar f tn Like its luring me in and it just seems so much easier to give in and go back to the dream than to wake up. But I always know that I have to wake up. I have to. And so I try everything but it gets harder to wake up with every time. These dreams always seem to occur just as I'm falling asleep, never when I'm deep in sleep. It's always when I'm still partially conscious and it feels like I have the choice to either wake up or give in to the dream.
Avatar n tn This occurs when you fall asleep and stop breathing causing you to wake up feeling like your choking or gasping for breath. I would suggest you see a sleep doctor if you haven't already seeing as you have had a sleep study done, and if you don't get any answers from the first doctor you see I would suggest a second opinion. Two sets of eyes are better than one. I hope this helps some.
Avatar f tn Sometimes when I have dreams I wake up. When I'm awake my eyes won't open. I can't move. It feels like I'm paralyzed. I try calling my mom to wake me up, but the voice is in my head. It feels like I'm awake in my head justmy body isn't. Sometimes this happens when I'm sleep face down and can't breathe.
Avatar m tn I can move my finger tips, flicker my eyelids open, and hum loud noises attempting to scream for help. When I wake up it's almost as if Something was making me hold my breathe. Trying to open my eye lids move my finger tips or talking when I have this makes my heart rate sky rocket and I lose almost all my energy. Last night was the first time I had it before I went to sleep. I fell asleep with the tv off which I usually don't do.
