sleep deprivation panic attacks

I was diagnosed with GAD earlier this year and have gone through horrific panic attacks, agoraphobia, and many other anxiety related nightmares but lately Ive been struggling with sleep deprivation...Every day for the past couple months I have not been able to sleep at a reasonable hour...I have to completely exaust myself to finally get to sleep and before I do, I go through a period of feeling "under the influence", as if im drunk or high...

I am looking for information about a Sleep-Related condition that I have been suffering from since I was about 11 years old (I am now 35). I am a male. Under certain circumstances I will wake up in a neurological state that is virtually impossible to describe. I can't really connect it to any physical sensation, thoughts, or emotions.

I took .25 mg of xanax to help me sleep, but why doesn't .25 mg stop my panic attack during the day. It wore off in 1 1/2 hours and I felt worse. I'm so scared of taking medication that why I weaned off. But now having trouble sleeping all night.

m going down by a third a week-the doc said this was ambitious but I really want to be free so there you have it. If I can get a few nights good sleep I will be prepared to deal with the sleep deprivation again....Ugh. So easy to put in your body...so hard to get out. Wish me luck with the sleep fairies tonight....

t smoke I get restless leg syndrome and nighttime panic attacks ( waking about 20 min after I fall asleep feeling disoriented w/ rapid heart beat and a feeling of pure doom.) Has anyone been through something similar?

ok soo im not sure if im having panic attaks can you have them when you sleep? I feel like im dreaming but i cant breathe when i wake up i have to shake myself up it feels like i cant move untill i force myself up!Is it anxiety?

My 4 yr old daughter has started having panic attacks thru the day and also at night. She could have 4-6 during the day. They last from 20 secs to a min. But not longer. It disrupts her sleep also. What can we do to help get thru this and sleep better? It would help to know of other parents who have gone thru this. Thank u!!

He should speak to a Dr if he won't talk to you. If he is under that much stress he is having panic attacks that's not good for his heart his health.

But in adults it could be associated with stress, anxiety or other sleep disorders. Sleep deprivation and stress are known to aggravate these symptoms. If the symptoms are interfering with your sleep schedules consult your doctor. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

I have a history with panic attacks since I was 16 and still experience them from time to time, but they are completely situational, and I usually prophylax with xanax as needed. Over the years I have seen some MSW's for therapy but they don't ever seem to help resolve the problem. My main problem is that the more I learn about medicine, the more I become afraid that any symptom I have may be something of a severe disease.

Does anyone else get panic attacks all day and have the shakes with them? I had all my blood work done and every thing came out ok. I also get the attacks at night.

I have been suffering from anxiety and panic attacks for about a week now. It started off thinking I was going to die, then thinking god doesn't love me, now I had a panic attack thinking I have scizophrenia due to me researching why I keep feeling this way. Before I was a kid living the college life chasing girls, going out, staying up late enjoying life. I got better for a couple of days, and then I saw the word schizophrenia and started freaking myself out.

I definitely understand the sleep deprivation. It really ***** :( I work overnights and have a terrible time trying to sleep during the morning/afternoons. Im also up every hour, or hour and a half, then still manage to work/do things around the house. I always thought the 2nd trimester was supposed to be the best, sure i dont feel sick anymore, but this has been brutal for sleep. As a teenager I went through a year of sleep deprivation. I got about six hours of sleep a night. I felt very sleepy every day and even had feelings of confusion and derealization. Did I cause any permanent damage to my brain? In addition, has damage caused by oxidative stress and free radicals irreversibly increased my cancer risk?

I too used to get panic attacks, after my micro-preemie was born. I started driving to the hosp., which is 1 hour away to see my son in NICU. Well, I didn't make it too far, maybe 16-17 miles! I went dead stop in my car, parked in a parking lot, and sat there for a couple hours till my hubby came to pick me up. The only time I would get attacks is when I was driving! Which is bad! I couldn't control it nohow! Needless to say, I did NOT drive for 6-7 months.

They told me then to try zoloft and xanax er. Which has not helped and i couldnt sleep. This last thursday my panic attack was so bad my heart was beating from 80 to 112 so my nurse friend told my husband i needed to go to the e.r. needless to say my blood tests are fine and so were my heart tests. Just more bandaids and no solutions. This saturday i actually went to a family doc and he ordered thyroid tests switched me to prozac and klonopin.

I ma beginning a bout with depression again and anxiety attacks. i can't sleep...don't eat the same..zone out a lot...and feel sad and get very agitated at the little things. I just started prozac and xanax but the prozac makes me feel a little funny. and out of the cornor of my eye i swear i see shadows or shapes darting by. its only been a few days on the meds. but I feel trapped inside myself if that makes sense. my 30 daughter just came back into my life pregnant.
