1339808 tn?1276321180 Only a series of blood tests could tell you this definitively. Some people need a lot of sleep, some need very little. While the above statement is generally true, it isn't necessarily true for any specific individual. It also depends on how long you haven't slept for and why and what your diet is like. Why aren't you sleeping? Partying too much, working too hard, or anxiety? And how long has it lasted?
15242955 tn?1534438461 Phentermine is an appetite suppressant that is commonly prescribed for weight loss. It is a mild stimulant and can be disruptive to sleep. Long term sleep deprivation will cause the symptoms you described. I take Phentermine for weight loss. I feel like my normal self. I just don't feel hungry unless I skip meals. It lets me plan my food and develop healthy eating habits without having to fight temptation or feel deprived. But, it disrupts my sleep.
Avatar m tn Sleep Deprivation, Depression and stress are the things of which one of them can be responsible for My Memory Loss and Memory Problems. Just want to know if it caused by Neuron cell breakdown or something else for the mentioned reasons.
Avatar n tn During a normal night of 8 hours of sleep, there are only about 2-3 hours of REM sleep. However, after an adaptation period of about a week, all the sleep that is needed is 6 20 minute naps equally spaced throughout the day. Check out www.stevepavlina.com for the blog of someone who practiced it for about 8 months. After the first week those 6 naps (totaling 2 hours) can make a person feel just as refreshed as a normal night of sleep.
326352 tn?1310994295 how do you EVER get enough sleep? And of course, the diet gurus all say that adequate sleep is so important. How do you do that with 2 babies who are alternating their wake-ups....sleep restlessly (in our bed, they don't start there, but end up there around midnight)...and God love them, keep mommy from getting a good night's sleep. Vegas was good for the sleep, but 2 nights back at the house and my butt is dragging the ground. Is there a happy medium somewhere?
Avatar f tn As a teenager I went through a year of sleep deprivation. I got about six hours of sleep a night. I felt very sleepy every day and even had feelings of confusion and derealization. Did I cause any permanent damage to my brain? In addition, has damage caused by oxidative stress and free radicals irreversibly increased my cancer risk?
Avatar n tn I am hoping that my side effcts are actually symptoms of sleep apnea.
1794093 tn?1357930759 I definitely understand the sleep deprivation. It really ***** :( I work overnights and have a terrible time trying to sleep during the morning/afternoons. Im also up every hour, or hour and a half, then still manage to work/do things around the house. 941766 tn?1257796601 Anxeity and depression affect us in different ways, but when I was confronting it, I too had initially lost my appetite and had a hard time sleeping at night. This can really take a toll on us emotionally and it is sometimes a hard thing to confront. For me, I focused on the long term progress that I made. Don't forget to give yourself credit for what you have already accomplished...the fact that you are being proactive and making progress is great...
410281 tn?1254229064 It's possible. Sleep deprivation causes a generalized nervous system excitability which can manifest in various muscle twitches and spasms. Mirapex (which is also used for Parkinson's) acts in your central nervous system to control your nervous system problems. Did you ever treat your sleep apnea? And if so, how was it treated?
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with gynecological problems, high HR and BP, loss of appetite, and terrible sleep. It is overwhelming to sort out all this stuff. Thankfully, two of the gynecological issues have been resolved. hurray! Nuts are one of the things I have found myself able to eat, probably for the reasons you mentioned, Heiferly. I feel full fast so nuts are a good way to get myself to eat without having to eat a large volume of food.
Avatar f tn As this has happened twice, we cannot say for sure. It can be due to incomplete sleep or prolonged sleep deprivation leading confusional state when you wake up. If the symptoms persist then you can undergo EEG monitoring esp. during sleep. This shouldn't be point of concern, relax. You can consult sleep specialist if the problem recurs. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn Finding the root cause of his segmented sleep is important, as sleep deprivation can cause meory loss and disjointed thinking, and you don't want him to get misdiagnosed.
Avatar n tn He is in his last year of college and has expressed some concern over his loss of concentration, but it is unclear what caused the condition to begin. We also looked into a sleep disorder. In his initial visit it was discovered that he was not going through a REM cycle. The sleep doctor decided that his "clock" was off and would have to be reset. (Like many college students, he would often keep late hours).
Avatar n tn There not sure why warm milk help sleep as tryptophan only helps with the initial cycle of sleep but can disrupt deep sleep, but you may want to try it to help you get to sleep initially just only drink a small glass. There is something called Lactium in milk which relaxes infants but there is an all natural medication called dreamerz food that contains a consentrated amount of Lactium(enough for an adult) along with melatonin that has gotten alot of great attention.
