Avatar n tn Hi, it is unlikely to be because of pernicious anemia which is mainly due to deficiency of vitamin B 12, which can lead to nervous symptoms like tingling, pins and needles, burning sensation etc. Seizure at this stage is usually due to intracranial space occupying lesion, hypoglycemia, metabolic acidosis etc. Is he diabetic, any history of hypertension? What are the medications he is on?
Avatar f tn As this has happened twice, we cannot say for sure. It can be due to incomplete sleep or prolonged sleep deprivation leading confusional state when you wake up. If the symptoms persist then you can undergo EEG monitoring esp. during sleep. This shouldn't be point of concern, relax. You can consult sleep specialist if the problem recurs. Take care and regards.

1926359 tn?1331588139 I agree with GA...call the doctor for some help. Sleep deprivation is horrible and it's just going to keep wearing you down. Yes. It's very normal for some to have a sleep problem 7 days in. It's awful, I know...Go out and get the Alteril (I know they have it at Walgreen's). Stay up all day and do as much as you can physically. Then go through all the bed preparations early (6 or 7 pm).
326352 tn?1310994295 how do you EVER get enough sleep? And of course, the diet gurus all say that adequate sleep is so important. How do you do that with 2 babies who are alternating their wake-ups....sleep restlessly (in our bed, they don't start there, but end up there around midnight)...and God love them, keep mommy from getting a good night's sleep. Vegas was good for the sleep, but 2 nights back at the house and my butt is dragging the ground. Is there a happy medium somewhere?
Avatar n tn I was treated for Hepatritis C over 4 years ago and have been suffering with Chronic Major Depression, anxiety, fatigue and a host of aches and pains. Just recently I have been given a sleep study and I had very little REM and many sleep apnea episodes, My Pulmonologist has ordered another sleep study using C-pap. I am hoping that my side effcts are actually symptoms of sleep apnea.
1794093 tn?1357930759 I definitely understand the sleep deprivation. It really ***** :( I work overnights and have a terrible time trying to sleep during the morning/afternoons. Im also up every hour, or hour and a half, then still manage to work/do things around the house. I always thought the 2nd trimester was supposed to be the best, sure i dont feel sick anymore, but this has been brutal for sleep. Thats exciting about your ultrasound coming up, and really exciting that you are not finding out the gender!
Avatar f tn I got about six hours of sleep a night. I felt very sleepy every day and even had feelings of confusion and derealization. Did I cause any permanent damage to my brain? In addition, has damage caused by oxidative stress and free radicals irreversibly increased my cancer risk?
8467907 tn?1407411342 Its 2am n I can't get 2 sleep this has been happening for days now....
Avatar f tn An EEG done in August was inconclusive and now they want him to have a sleep deprivation EEG. All his tonic clonic seizures have followed a very late night and so he is plain scared of being forced not to sleep for 24 hours. Anyway to the point (sorry), they have given him Epilim (depakote) 500mg daily.
Avatar n tn I had eclampsia 4 years ago and had seizures which resulted in the early delivery of my child. Aside from my seizures 4 years ago, I had no previous history of seizure disorder. There has been no seizure activity until this most recent event. Could this seizure have been associated with the use of nitrous or lidocaine? Also, I have been experiencing severe headaches and light-headedness since the seizure.
Avatar m tn Hi my name is Luke and I am 24 years old and an Iraq veteran. I spent 4 years in the marines and have been out for about 3 years but have recently been afflicted with seizures, two in one day actually. This is the first time that I know of that I have ever had this issue so it is a bit alarming. I was put on keppra for the next year but I read on another ptsd related seizure post that for non epileptic seizures such as mine, anti seizure meds are pointless.
Avatar n tn vegetarian (i eat dairy), low iron, work midnight shift, usually get about 4-5 hrs of sleep during the day, if Im lucky. Could sleep deprivation cause any of this? This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/251821'>purple lips</a>.
774736 tn?1311331385 My shrink put me on Paxil (antidepressant) and Ambien (sleep pill) and Klonopin (anxiety). I was weaned off Ambien after 6 mos. but kept on Paxil and Klonopin (as needed). These really helped me through. But be careful on Paxil , because it is very hard to wean off. Talk to your psychiatrist and see what's best for you. Any antidepressant will have side effects.
Avatar m tn The main symptoms of cerebral hypoxia are headaches, muscle spasms, severe confusion, and lack of concentration, loss of consciousness, decreased attention span, mood swings and seizures. you must seek immediate medical attention if there are multiple symptoms. The physician will determine the degree of severity of cerebral hypoxia. These include a CT scan, MRI, EEG, and Evoked potential test. Other tests include complex learning tasks and motor control.
Avatar n tn Are you there to take care of him? I do agree with your views of sleep deprivation and its adverse effects. He might be in severe stress due to sleep deprivation caused a result of irregular sleeping cycle because of job needs working in frequent shifts. You may seek the help of attorney for his loss of pay. He requires rest for sometime. He can get evaluated by a neurologist and get counseled by a sleep specialist. Take care and update on his progress.
Avatar f tn A sleep study would avoid a lot of guessing or trial and error, and could help you know how to get the sleep you need.
1549468 tn?1345468736 I have been like this my whole life, yet it seems to be getting worse as I age. I have been having seizures that are also getting worse, but sleep deprivation causes that. I am frustrated... I am tired... I am ready to crash...
626605 tn?1302520471 t had one in 9 years. Mine are brought on by stress, dehydration and sleep deprivation. All 3 times I had to have all that going on to have one. I am not allowed to drive for 6 months. It's very very inconvenient. My EEGs have always come back normal. I have another EEG scheduled for Dec 8th. I only have seizures when I'm sleeping so they think if they do this one during my sleep they'll find something out. My short term memory is gone too.
Avatar m tn A few months ago I was at my sister house when my entire body twitched, but I would have no memory of it, after a while it stopped, however I still get them every now and then, my sister took me to the emergency room at the local hospital but they only did a basic nerve test which consisted of taking a blunt needle and a strip of tissue and testing to see if I tell which was sharp and which was soft, they said they couldn't find any problems so they sent me home, I am 26 and have only had th
1123753 tn?1259585032 ve suspected that he has sleep apnea for years, as he literally stops breathing in his sleep. His breathing is also quite shallow at times and he snores. I did some research and, at first, thought that the sleep apnea could have triggered these seizures. Upon further research, however, it doesn't seem like most people think this would be the case. We have yet to see a neurologist about this, though we plan to soon. Should we request a sleep study?
Avatar n tn At the age of 15 months, my son had 3 seizures in the span of 7 hours after 3 days of no food or liquids due to gastrointeritis. He was hot to the touch before each seizure but no official fever was recorded. He was hospitilaized and put on a drip to get some fluids back in him and we were told that he had febrile seizures. He had an EEG recently (age 19 months) and the results came back abnormal stating that he had low activity in the left part of the brain.
Avatar m tn s not much she can do to totally escape the sensory overload. Young people are amazingly resilient and some go all thru college with inadequate and irregular sleep. But if she indicates the being stuck scenario, suggest she modify her schedule for a few days and arrange a few hours here and there of total down time. Remind her that sleep is critical to her cognitive abilities and memory, and to be kind to herself so that her body and mind are equipped to handle a busy lifestyle.
Avatar n tn Is there anything I can do to get it out and help me sleep. I do not recommend this drug for anyone and it seems to be the new anesthesia drug.
