Avatar m tn Obstructive Sleep Apnea is unlikely to cause hallucinations, but and they can occur with certain medications, stress, sleep deprivation, in certain brain disorders and with schizophrenia or bipolar disorders. So, like you mentioned sleep deprivation can cause hallucinations. But if they persist, I would advise you to discuss your symptoms with your primary care physician for further evaluation. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Over the past week or two, for the first time in my life, I've been experiencing visual hallucinations -- vivid, lifelike images that scare the he** out of me. This tends to happen in the evening or nighttime when I happen to awaken. I'll notice a person in my room, just standing there and staring at me. I kind of notice it out of the corner of my eye. Then, I stare right at the image...and it immediately vanishes.
Avatar f tn thanks. the sleep deprivation may make sense because she had slept five hours in about a week or so.i guess only time will tell but its hard not to worry. thank you for posting and ill keep you updated.
Avatar m tn What you are experiencing could be hallucinations and delusions and they can occur with certain medications, stress, sleep deprivation, in certain brain disorders and with schizophrenia or bipolar disorders. When sleep paralysis happens in sleep the person has difficulty moving his hands or feet. This is the symptom of a sleep disorder called Narcolepsy. You will need to consult your primary care physician for assessment. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
2052200 tn?1332429084 Under sleep deprivation, no food, high off my *** on XTC and oh yea,im clinically diagnosed with depression. With all that going on i was visually hallucinating the letters V and M. Everywhere, on everything. It wasnt any normal letters, they look skewed a little,in everything and anything it looked that way. I "believe" that my mind was vulnerable and susceptible to the altered state of reality.

4316751 tn?1352696914 But please try to get some help and catch up on your sleep. It could just be that you are tired and need more sleep. Just give yourself more time to sleep/rest. This may help with your symptoms. If it still persists consult your doctor. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn ILADVOCATE is right, sleep deprivation can cause psychosis in and of itself, if deprived long enough, and it can actually be normal to hallucinate while waking or falling asleep because the brain is trying to make sense of the world while it's partially in the sleep phase.
Avatar m tn The sensations can also be described as hallucinations and delusions and they can occur with certain medications, stress, sleep deprivation, in certain brain disorders and with schizophrenia or bipolar disorders. If troublesome, may need to consult your doctor. Warm regards.
Avatar m tn hey i have a question, a couple of weeks ago i wrote a post that was talking about how i thought i overdosed on cocaine and it turned out it was just a panic attack, and this weekend i didnt really get any sleep and was drinking till 4 am and woke up at 9 am and now i had one of those panic attack agains, do you think its all in my head or what? or is it sleep deprivation?
1926359 tn?1331588139 I agree with GA...call the doctor for some help. Sleep deprivation is horrible and it's just going to keep wearing you down. Yes. It's very normal for some to have a sleep problem 7 days in. It's awful, I know...Go out and get the Alteril (I know they have it at Walgreen's). Stay up all day and do as much as you can physically. Then go through all the bed preparations early (6 or 7 pm).
326352 tn?1310994295 how do you EVER get enough sleep? And of course, the diet gurus all say that adequate sleep is so important. How do you do that with 2 babies who are alternating their wake-ups....sleep restlessly (in our bed, they don't start there, but end up there around midnight)...and God love them, keep mommy from getting a good night's sleep. Vegas was good for the sleep, but 2 nights back at the house and my butt is dragging the ground. Is there a happy medium somewhere?
Avatar n tn I was treated for Hepatritis C over 4 years ago and have been suffering with Chronic Major Depression, anxiety, fatigue and a host of aches and pains. Just recently I have been given a sleep study and I had very little REM and many sleep apnea episodes, My Pulmonologist has ordered another sleep study using C-pap. I am hoping that my side effcts are actually symptoms of sleep apnea.
1794093 tn?1357930759 I definitely understand the sleep deprivation. It really ***** :( I work overnights and have a terrible time trying to sleep during the morning/afternoons. Im also up every hour, or hour and a half, then still manage to work/do things around the house. I always thought the 2nd trimester was supposed to be the best, sure i dont feel sick anymore, but this has been brutal for sleep. Thats exciting about your ultrasound coming up, and really exciting that you are not finding out the gender!
Avatar f tn I got about six hours of sleep a night. I felt very sleepy every day and even had feelings of confusion and derealization. Did I cause any permanent damage to my brain? In addition, has damage caused by oxidative stress and free radicals irreversibly increased my cancer risk?
8467907 tn?1407411342 Its 2am n I can't get 2 sleep this has been happening for days now....
503651 tn?1223174601 Was one done by the doctor who said your symptoms are from sleep deprivation? (I was reading your other post.) Getting to the root of your sleep problems is preferable to treating the symptoms.
Avatar m tn I can answer your questions because i have the exact same symptoms and have been having them for years. I have sleep apnea and narcolepsy, and the hallucinations are caused by sleep deprivation. I hate the fact that i can't seem to get out of these dreams but i have recently found the solution. Get out of bed and do something for 5 or 10 minutes....i usually will come downstairs and check my email or just surf for a few minutes.
774736 tn?1311331385 My shrink put me on Paxil (antidepressant) and Ambien (sleep pill) and Klonopin (anxiety). I was weaned off Ambien after 6 mos. but kept on Paxil and Klonopin (as needed). These really helped me through. But be careful on Paxil , because it is very hard to wean off. Talk to your psychiatrist and see what's best for you. Any antidepressant will have side effects.
1350886 tn?1295667199 I'm 18 years old, female and healthy. I've been having hallucinations my whole life, but they were usually visual/auditory/olfactory and occasional not frequent. My psychiatrist thinks I'm having brain seizures or that it's sleep deprivation (I'm not entering REM sleep at night) Lately, they've been getting much more frequent. I heard a voice call me a ***** the other day, along with dizziness, almost a complete black out of vision, and confusion.
Avatar f tn Sleep is a necessity, without it, you are going to get much worse, mentally. The sleep deprivation will feed the anxiety, and when the hallucinations start (and they will without sleep), you will be more fearful than ever. That's why it is SO important for you to seek some help, urgently. While you're waiting to see a doctor, try napping during the day, when you feel less fearful. If you have to, lie down and refuse to allow yourself to get back up until you get some sleep.
Avatar m tn hello, i am 19 old ,male sometimes before sleeping i hear my heart beats weak and when i sleep i feel that i enter a strange mode then i feel my breath is stopped and then my head shakes rapidly and sometimes my body or legs shakes and sometimes during this i hear strange voices or dream (see strange things) sometimes during awake(in any normal day)(not after these symptoms i mean) : i feel that i cant breath well and feel numbness in my 4 limbs (both hands and both legs).
Avatar n tn Are you there to take care of him? I do agree with your views of sleep deprivation and its adverse effects. He might be in severe stress due to sleep deprivation caused a result of irregular sleeping cycle because of job needs working in frequent shifts. You may seek the help of attorney for his loss of pay. He requires rest for sometime. He can get evaluated by a neurologist and get counseled by a sleep specialist. Take care and update on his progress.

2085202 tn?1373199740 where you hear a super loud gunshot in your head right as you are falling asleep due to sleep deprivation. So you are saying that it could very well be the brain injury and head trauma causing this as well as my anxiety? Thank you and I will seek to see a neurologist or a Dr. in my area to be evaluated when I can.
