Avatar f tn How do I avoid swollen eyelids every morning after sleeping with CPAP? This discussion is related to Swollen eyes & CPAP.
Avatar m tn I have seen many specialists in regards to my snoring and sleep apnea (mild - did a sleep study 4 years ago, I am sure that my sleep apnea has worsen a bit). Some of the different specialists that I have seen are: ENT docs, Otolaryngologists, Internal Medicine/Respirologist, Dentist, and Sleep Disorder doctor. I have tried the CPAP for 2 years (hate it) and I am currently using the mouth-guard (where my jaw is moved forward).
Avatar m tn Does any body know for latest and advanced available therapies for severe obs ,sleep apnea, where CPAP is non compliance. Having thyroidhypo, growth hormones at critical low level, age 55 male, diabetic.
Avatar f tn Snoring does often accompany sleep apnea, but just because you snore does not mean you have sleep apnea and vice versa. Minor sleep apnea is responsive to self-help remedies such as losing weight, eliminating the use of alcohol, tobacco, and sedatives; sleeping on your side, and regularizing your sleep hours. It would be best to see a sleep specialist for proper management and to ease your worries. Take care and keep us posted.
6543835 tn?1468844035 Have you considered sleep apnea? I had daytime tiredness and very little sleep at night. I had a sleep test and was found to have sleep apnea. I started ising a CPAP machine at night and my sleep improved, wasn't tired in the daytime, more motivation, less depression.
Avatar f tn i have been diagnosed with sleep apnea.....overall,mild obstructive apnea, becoming severe in rem sleep with mild oxygen desaturation.I used a nose prong (resimed) for three weeks no problems at all, then developed dermatitus in and below my nose, sore and unsightly.I tried a mouth splint ,with lots of adjustments, had facial and ear pain.My doctor advised perservering with c-pap,but also adding the apnea was not bad....total rdi=12.1/hr.I am going on a cruise next week, and I am worried.
Avatar m tn t remember anything from the time the tech put the bite guard in my mouth to the time I was sitting in the chair in recovery and the nurse was getting me a cup of water.
Avatar m tn The sound can actually be a snore. This is often due to obstructive sleep apnea. You need to consult a sleep specialist regarding this. The other possibility is that it is a sound of regurgitation of food. The symptoms could be exacerbation of the GERD or gastric reflux. It could also be hiatal hernia. Treatment is a combination of drugs to reduce the acid and lifestyle changes.
1907326 tn?1323894789 Is he constantly tired and fatigued, regardless of how much sleep he gets? If yes, then sleep apnea is a definite possibility, and snoring is just a symptom of it. If it is possible, he should have it checked, because apnea can lead to a wide range of other physiological and psychological issues. If he doesn't have apnea, then a sleep mouth piece couldn't hurt to try. Hope this helps you...both.
1218873 tn?1300091216 Along with the neurological symptoms I have recently been dx with sleep apnea. I have a CPAP machine on a months trial, this is one that varies the pressure as required it records the information on to an SD card so when I return to the clinic I will then be given a machine that has the correct fixed pressure. I have a full face mask as I could not get on with the nose only one.
Avatar f tn t sleep at night till 3 a.m.. We think I have sleep apnea I did have a test to check for it but we do not know the reslults yet. I do wake up in the mornings with blue around my mouth. Does this sound like sleep apnea to you? Do you have any idea of anything I could do to help me sleep at night so I don't have to do deal with the pain when I am supposed to be sleeping?
Avatar m tn If you have severe snoring, you could be having obstructive sleep apnea. Treating sleep apnea will not only treat your snoring, but also may save your life. Untreated sleep apnea can aggravate or cause hypertension, diabetes, weight gain, depression, heart disease, heart attack or stroke. Regards.
Avatar n tn That depends. Do you have a copy of your sleep study results? If you have mild sleep apnea, there is a possibility a dental device could help, but those are expensive too. Some are helped with surgery, but many find after surgery they still need cpap. Hardly anyone gets used to wearing a mask to breathe in a night or two. Some take weeks and have to try several masks to get one that's right for them. But the benefits from toughing it out till adjusted make it worth the effort...
1546631 tn?1321643204 I had to do this too. The only problem with the mouth guard is that I developed sleep apnea last year, I'm assuming from a nuerological issue or Chiari, and when I wear the mouth guard with the cpap machine, it causes sores in my mouth and toward my throat. Not sure why unless it's air pressure getting under them or what. But the mouth guards are a blessing when you can use them. Also, no gum. If you're a gum chewer, you need to stop....if you feel like it.
Avatar f tn Your symptoms of always being tired and depressed could be directly related if you have sleep apnea. Talk to a couple different sleep clinics and ask them what options there are for someone uninsured. If you decide to use a cpap machine, there are some called auto titrating machines that can test you at home and determine what pressure you need to keep your airways open. Not as thorough as a full fledged study in a sleep lab, but better than nothing. Gather information and see what you can do.
Avatar f tn It sounds to me as if you are suffering from sleep apnea. People with sleep apnea stop breathing during their sleep. There may be some obstruction in the air passage.
Avatar m tn s quite hard for me to sleep while breathing on my nose. I usually get dry mouth upon waking up. Idk, I felt really fine falling asleep. But then I read about Sleep Apnea I feel like I'm having it. I don't really know. But I got really anxious while falling alseep, and I wake up like a few seconds. I don't really know if it's just all in my head, or do I really have sleep apnea.
Avatar m tn Hi and thanks for using the forum. I cannot be sure what is causing your symptoms but I do have a few suggestions for you that may help you find out. First, do you snore? It is not uncommon for people who snore to wake up with a dry mouth (since they are breathing with their mouths open at night). Next, snoring can be associated with sleep apnea. Sleep apnea can cause that "slow to wake up and get moving feeling" in the morning. It can also cause headaches as well as body aches.
Avatar f tn You need to find out if you have sleep apnea or not. Its important. If you have sleep apnea, you literally stop breathing in your sleep. There is a high risk you will not start breathing again on your own. Do a sleep study at home and if you do have it, its important you let yourself get use to wearing the mask. It took me approx a month. Get on this issue. Its worth it!!
Avatar n tn My dentist says I'm clenching my teeth and need a night guard. Its going to cost way more than I can spend. Has anyone used those over the counter varieties of dental guards? I tried the one you boil and bite to fit. Its too bulky and makes me feel like I'm choking. Do any of these products pose a choking hazard? If I can't wear this type, what are the chances I could wear any other or even the custom made one?
1054090 tn?1343965695 If you do have sleep apnea, the treatment is that you will sleep with a CPAP machine. It stands for Continuos Positive Air Pressure. You wear a mask that blows air down your passages to keep them from closing when you sleep. Cause when they close is when you stop breathing. Id it is determined you have sleep apnea it is vital that you wear the cpap eveytime!! You can die from sleep apnea just as easily as a baby can die from sids.
