Avatar m tn I wanna know if your doctor recommend CPAP for your snoring and if you have been diagnose with sleep apnea. If yes does your doctor recommend you to have a CPAP or BiPAP? these two are the only alternative cure to that. I have been helping people to know their conditions and if your still having problems you can contact me i can recommend you specialists for that.
1580703 tn?1651904887 my sleep apnea is getting worse, now I have headaches when I don't use bipap and my oxygen on the sleep study was 70%, it's hard to adjust to the bipap machine I really want to get tonsil surgery- did it help anyone here?
Avatar f tn I am 64 with copd and sleep apnea also. I use a cpap at night with 2 liters oxygen. I use several inhalers. The cpap is designed to push the air in your lungs to keep you from dieing when you stop breathing in your sleep. It also makes your lungs stronger because it forces them to work on a deeper level. How long have you been using a cpap? Do you get along with it ok? I have had mine since November.
Avatar f tn Hi you are not alone i to have Sleep Apnea i also on a CPAP machine are you , I think i am the opposite to you i cannot sleep without medication never mind can't have it all nice, please feel free to drop me a note if you like once again you are not alone.........
Avatar n tn I use the CPAP for my sleep apnea and know that I would constantly wake up during the night because the mask would slip or would be uncomfortable or even the most annoying--hissing. Maybe it's as simple as that. I switched the type of mask I use in the last month to a nasal pillow and it is much better for me. I don't have to strap it on tightly and it's much more comfortable, leading to better rest at night. You should consider using an alternative mask and see if it helps.
1580703 tn?1651904887 is there anything I can take or do for my asthma and sleep apnea?
Avatar n tn Now he has a very bad heart condition due to all those years of sleep apnea. Lack of oxygen to the heart. It is very important that people take apnea serious.
505751 tn?1225032462 I just found out that I have severe complex sleep apnea with central sleep apnea being the main problem. I go back tonight for another study and to get the CPAP. I am also in the middle a lot of test because my new neurologist is 99% sure I have MS. My question is for those of you already DX with MS - is this sort of sleep apnea common? If so did a CPAP help?
1769279 tn?1315015320 I also have CM and sleep apnea. I love my CPAP machine. It has made a huge difference in my sleep. You should definitely have a sleep study. I also read that CM people are at risk for lots of sleep disorders. As a matter of fact, in addition to sleep apnea I have something called Periodic Limb Movement Disorder (PLMD). It is similar to RLS.
Avatar m tn t have sleep apnea, but noted my heavily scalloped tongue as a classic sign of sleep apnea. Large amount of RERAs as noted from the sleep chart: https://ibb.co/BnY3JcG I apparently have Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome given the RERAs. My sleep is not refreshing. I got a stomach bug February 1 and my stomach and GI tract have been all messed up since. An Upper Endoscopy revealed an inflamed stomach lining (Gastritis).
222135 tn?1236488221 Your concern is common, as with any other person having the first time experience of using CPAP. How severe is your sleep apnea? You may require a couple of days to weeks to get yourself adjusted with the new machine. You need to consider the benefits of using the CPAP machine rather than think negatively. It will, sure be of helpful in putting you to sleep.
Avatar f tn How do I avoid swollen eyelids every morning after sleeping with CPAP? This discussion is related to Swollen eyes & CPAP.
Avatar n tn Although CPAP does help some patients with UARS, most can't tolerate it. Dental appliances that pull the lower jaw forward is another good option, but you have to find a dentist that is good at it. Coincidentally, I just interviewed a dentist on this subject. You can download and listen to it here: http://tinyurl.com/df8bdl You can see an ENT, but it will be hit or miss in terms of how well he or she will understand UARS. If you have any nasal symptoms, they can help you with that.
702513 tn?1228512697 Most people with central sleep apnea are not given a regular BiPAP machine. I was given a Respironics BiPAP Auto SV machine. Could you tell us exactly what type of machine your husband is using? Your BiPAP should have a smart card slot installed. Your home care provider should give you a smart card and after a couple of weeks you can give them the card and they will download the data to see if the treatment is effective.
Avatar m tn My husband has MS. He had a sleep study showing sleep apnea and lack of REM sleep. He wakes a few times each night and is sweating profusely, requiring changing sheets once or twice a night. Is sleep apnea common in MS and related to the disease? He has Primary Progressive MS.
Avatar m tn I just found out that I have severe sleep apnea. After years of wondering what was wrong with me. I finally told my primary that I wanted a sleep study. He said that I told him that I sleep allot. I told him that I have every symptom and didn't feel my fatigue was due to my age as he suggested. He reluctantly ordered the test and found out it was severe. My results were an average of 2 apnea a minute and less than 75% oxygen fifteen times.
Avatar m tn You said you were "diagnosed" with sleep apnea. Did you do a follow-up sleep test (polysomnography with titration)? Or, did they actually put a CPAP mask on you during your test(s) at the laboratory? If not, you may need to see your sleep physician again and have a PSGT (Polysomnography with titration). If your problem is not "simple" obstructive sleep apnea, CPAP/BiPAP/AutoPAP, etc. may not meet your needs.
Avatar m tn I have been diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea and severely delayed REM sleep after undergoing a Sleep study. I have been trialed on a CPAP machine, despite getting to a drowsy stage I am unable to get into a deeper sleep and I am conscious throughout entire night and this has been told to me that I enter stage 1 sleep during this time. I have used the CPAP machine for 3 months now with no improvement in sleep.
Avatar n tn I have copd and sleep apnea. I use a cpap machine and am becoming convinced that it is the machine that keeps setting off lung infections in me. Every morning or whenever I wake up with mask on, I am choking and it hurts to take a breath. My mouth is completey dried out and I cough for a half hour before I can begin to inhale without coughing. Is there a solution for this...I can't use a nasal mask because I have deviated septum and automatically open my mouth when I sleep.
222135 tn?1236488221 Hope you are feeling better with the use of Bipap machine now and able to get a fair amount of sleep. Well, it depends on the severity of sleep apnea how you use the machine. You need to discuss with your sleep doctor if you are facing any problem with the machine or in using it properly. You may take couple of days or weeks in getting adjusted with the new device for a smooth use. Sometimes an allergic reaction and ill fitting mask can be common with it and needs to be replaced if so.
Avatar m tn She had 1/2 her thyroid took out, and got hypo ruled out..so her gp doc said time for a study..im also serve sleep apnea, on bipap 18/10 settings with 5lmp of o2 sleep only.. the apt is so far away.. can she use just a chin strap to see if she can sleep..i mean its got bad to wear its messing her life up.. I think you have to use a chin stap with a cpap?? or can she use it alone just to see if it helps. Were willing to try anything....
Avatar m tn Please are recurring infections -not getting better by antibiotic is due to obs sleep apnea?
3227046 tn?1458313476 Dr says bipap use during sleep study is way to go after cpap was not. I couldn't fall asleep using cpap. Normally i fall asleep so fast i dont remember falling asleep. Twice while eating, with partially chewed food on my mouth ,many times in my driveway after a short drive, during movies always..it's unreal.i have no life and beginning heart failure. I'm changed to healthy eating, alkaline, leafy green, organic etc.does anyone think this bioap is going to really help me.
Avatar m tn OMG yes, sleep apnea is pretty bad..it causes all sorts of problems. I use a cpap. My husband said it scared the snot out of him cause he would hear me actually stop breathing. You say you were diagnosed with sleep apnea, so do you a cpap or bipap? I use a cpap every night. If I don't? I can tell the difference. Does your neurologist know about the sleep apnea?
