Avatar f tn hi im 32 weeks pregnant and i used avon skin so soft bug repellent on my skin for avoiding mosquito bites and i forgot to wash my hands afterward. i ate something after that using my bare hands n that was when i realized that i had the repellent on my hands. im so scared that i might have taken something toxic inside. i immediately went and spitted out everything n also brushed my mouth thoroughly.
Avatar n tn If I could add something, though, you can also wipe the kittens down with Avon Skin So Soft, not the new one that is specifically made as an insect repellent, but the original one that is just made to soften skin. The original one still has bug repellent qualities, enough so that it will keep the fleas off the kittens until they are old enough to use an actual flea repellent on them.
8793709 tn?1409594060 Sunscreen is a must. With insect repellent you can apply it to the skin as long as it does not contain deet.
Avatar f tn Avon Skin So Soft is great for keeping fleas off newborn puppies and kittens. NOT the Skin So Soft that is actually an insect repellent, but the plain old original Skin So Soft that is used to relieve extremely dry skin. Just put some on your hands and rub it all over the babies, making sure you get through the haircoat and down to the skin.
Avatar f tn ve heard bugspray was a no-no...and that you should use things like Avon Skin So Soft or (this sounds crazy) Listerine, and citronella candles. IF you do use it make sure that you don't put it on your skin or inhale the fumes while it is being sprayed.
Avatar n tn can i use a mosquito repellent as Ive heard a lot about DEET being harmful for unborn babies. i have been using avon skin so soft repellent for 2 days now as i heard its DEET free , but still i thought I'll ask if u guys think avon skin so soft repellent is okay to use on my whole body on a daily basis. i don't want to put my baby's health on any kind of risk.

Avatar n tn All the pills for curing insect bites (especially antibiotics) should be taken only if a doctor prescribed it to you. Self-treatment with Piriton and other remedies like it can cause unpleasant consequences. As for the repellents, it's always better to use natural ones instead of chemical.
Avatar f tn I also recommend that you use an insect repellent with 30-50 % DEET. to prevent further bites. You have to be very careful with insect bites. Malaris, Yellow Fever, Dengue Fever, Japanese Encephalitis are just a few of the diseases that are spread by mosquito bites. I hope this helps.
Avatar m tn I have tickets to travel to Miami at the end of April when I will be 25-27 weeks pregnant. Is there a risk of contracting the Zika virus? I know that in pregnancy you are not supposed to use insect repellent which has Deet in it, but I suppose Deet is advised at the moment. I'd be grateful for the latest update and advice to pregnant women. I am also considering postponing the trip until after the baby is born. Thanks very much.
675347 tn?1365460645 You might even try some of the Avon Skin So Soft spray on. You can add the Rose Geranium oil to that and probably get the same effect. The Skin So Soft itself has, for years, been touted as a wonderful non-poisonous insect repellent.
Avatar n tn I have a 6 month old mixed breed dog that I take to the dog park daily. The park has cedar and bark pieces throughout, but some dirt underneath which the dogs love to roll around in. The no seeums seem to hang around the dirt and I'd like to find some kind of natural insect repellent. I recently found a product called The Bug Patch for myself which is deet free and 100% Thiamine B1 and seems to work. Is this also safe for dogs?
Avatar f tn ve been from the guy. Yesterday I developed a rash, which is not itchy, on my chest. I was hoping it was due to the insect repellent I'd sprayed on that morning. The chemist gave me a cream and the rash hasn't gotten any worse but not mush better. I was willing to put it down to a reaction to the repellent yesterday, but this morning I have another section of rash sort of on the front of my shoulder where I hadn't sprayed any repellent.
Avatar n tn Don't know what it is, but it's not the platelets. Mosquitoes don't know you have that. My wife and I are like candy to mosquitoes, while our neighbors sit outside in our mosquito infested part of the country without a bite. We'll never know why. I have to wear insect repellent and long pants in the heat and humidity while my neighbor does it in shorts and no shirt. We'll never know why. Some say they like sugar, but carbon dioxide seems to the their main thing.
Avatar f tn I went camping earlier in my pregnancy & was just fine. I would recommend an air mattress & pillows. I didn't have either & it was way un-comfy! Avon has this lotion called "skin so soft" that people clam work as a bug repellent & they also make a bug guard that is really good. I've also heard of eating lots of garlic. Hope you have fun! Wish I could go but it's way too hot for my big ol self.
2194148 tn?1397323475 a natural insect repellent is Pyrethrum, it's used in pharmaceutical products too. another popular insecticide is Malathion, it's commonly used in gel against head lice, body lice, scabies. try to consult a Dermatologist. I know these things are so annoying they can even trigger psychiatric problems. that, paradoxically, will support the idea of a solely psychiatric problem.
Avatar n tn It is characterized by intense itching, usually at night and by small insect-type bites lesions on the skin. This bump can be due to an ingrown hair, folliculitis, cyst, wart , boil or some benign skin growth also. If it is itchy then scabies or insect bite needs to be evaluated. I suggest you to get it evaluated from a dermatologist. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
1460021 tn?1445735958 Yes, it was Avon Skin so Soft..I picked up on that waaayback with working in Charleston, SC one early summer in the 70's..They had knats down there that had to be "two legs and all teeth ,lol)......
Avatar m tn after cycling for a couple of hours, I decided to take a short break in a mosquito-rich area. With my body warmed and having no insect repellent sprayed on it, my exposed legs became a feast for a bunch of hungry mosquitos. After the attack, I was left with 7-8 bites, one of which is the object of my worries.
Avatar n tn it was really strange. The skin that blistered up was transparent and soft, not like a normal blister at all. And no, it didn't hurt so we didn't go to the doctor. But there are all kinds of spiders there, from very small to about half-dollar sized. so, who knows.
Avatar n tn the hole being the bullseye and it just kept getting bigger.then there was all this dry skin, when i cleaned it i noticed one day that it wasnt dry skin,it was puss...no liquid like u would think but thick and stringy like...like a white head..it freaked me out,the whole time i was thinking dry skin when it was puss.and the white dots were all through the rash,,when i would wipe it clear and turn a certain way u could see it coming out through the pores of my skin...gross what the heck is that!!
Avatar n tn There are two areas of soft, red and painless swelling (possible insect bites). Should I let it run its course or seek medical advice?
Avatar m tn hi, my son (9 yr.) has a swelled/bloated area in one of the fingers (i researched it, but i can't find anything that resembles his condition). it's like this from two weeks now, and it happened after riding a bike. he doesn't have any pain or discomfort, it's not warm, no rash or visible damage/cut/puncture/insect bites. he's not diabetic or anything like what I've seen on the net. ha can freely move it or use the finger.
Avatar f tn Hello, Since the rash on breast is spreading it can be due to dermatitis skin or cellulitis skin. Cellulitis is an acute infection of skin and soft tissues characterized by localized pain, swelling, tenderness, erythema, and warmth. It usually follows a break in the skin, such as a fissure, cut, laceration, insect bite, or puncture wound. I suggest you an immediate dermatologist’s evaluation and get the skin biopsied to confirm the diagnosis.
