Avatar f tn You know it has similar symptoms and causes rashes. A lot of people have both FM and Lupus.... Girl, only 1 Vicodin a day? Does that really help with your pain that much? If you are having a lot of pain, you should ask for a higher dose of pain meds!!!!! Good luck getting rid of the rashes! Feel better!
Avatar f tn Doctors could not tell me what was causing this, I finally was confirmed with skin lupus on my 4th skin biopsy., a couple years ago. Taking Plaquenil did not help. I tried steroids, physical therapy and methotrexate, pain always came backā€¦.about 10 days ago, I was really gassy and had the idea to try a gluten free diet! After 1 day the gas and bloat was gone, after 3 days the pain had subsided considerably.
Avatar f tn We also cover her with aquaphor ointment twice a day. Her hair has grown back and the Dr. believes the rashes and hair loss are two spearate issues. She is overall very healthy child with no history of eczema or any other rashes. There was one incident, about 1.5 years before the rash appeared, and she was diagnosed with HSP. She had several bug bites, and I thought that may be what caused the vasculitis. They gave her a shot of cortisone and she recovered quickly.
Avatar f tn I have all kind of rashes on my face! I have always had flawless skin and I have developed all kinds of sores and things on my face!!! I am VERY self conscious about it!!!!
Avatar n tn I suspect it could be lupus because my dad has lupus. I smoke about 15 ciggarettes a day and I know they can increase your chances of getting lupus. I have had these spots on my cheek for about a year and a half. At first it started out with just a red spot on my right cheek this spot continued to get bigger with time. Then I started getting redness under both my eyes and eventually I started getting a red spot on my left cheek as well.

Avatar f tn for the last 3 or 4 years i have an area on my right cheek that always has dry flaky skin and small pimples. At least once a month my cheek and under my eye will begin tingling and a knot will form. The knot causes my skin to be red and bruised and is tender and hot to the touch. Sometimes it will become hollow and fill with puss but most times it will be a flaky red painful lump and go away. This area of my face now has scarring because of this reoccurring issue.
Avatar n tn If she is diagnosed with the disease, her doctor might start her on nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen this is appropriate for patients with non-life threatening symptoms such as joint pain, muscle pain, fatigue, and skin rashes. More aggressive treatment which may include high dose corticosteroids or immunosuppressive drugs is used when there are severe organ complications. The benefits and risks of treatment must be weighed by her Rheumatologist. Take care!
1415174 tn?1453243103 She also has Lupus but she has seen a dermatologist and rheumatologist and they dismiss it as acne. She knows she is out of remission with discoid lupus. But they assured her the 'acne" is not lupus breakout. Since this drug causes a lot of hormonal changes she wondering if it is a sign of anything else going on or a side effect of Armidex? thanks for any help you can give.

Avatar n tn t want to worry you but I would ask the doctor to check for lupus. It is a disease that causes rashes and skin problems because the immune system attacks the collagen in the body. Collagen is in all tissue but more in joints and skin. It can be skin anywhere on the body even the mouth. I was tested after getting a weird rash on my face. I was asked if I have had joint pain. I have had it all my life mostly but at least since I was 20. I was 30 when I was tested.
Avatar m tn We see similar signs/symptoms in patients who have chronic intracellular bacterial infections, especially the rashes and Lupus-like symptoms. Often these patients and their physicians are confused, because it is often difficult to clearly diagnose Lupus. Thus such patients usually receive a diagnosis of atypical Lupus or no diagnosis at all. Prof.
Avatar n tn I have systemic and cutaneous lupus. I am a poster person for mylar rashes which are definitely brought on by any exposure to the sun. I also have rosacea; when I get out of a shower or get overheated, I am one red face (and body). The mylar rash is distinct; I have it for a few days and it seems to burn itself out (literally, skin will flake off and that's how I know the rash is going away). Elidel cream is very helpful.
19434616 tn?1477610086 Hello, everyone! A year ago I began to get rashes on my legs. I figured it was normal, as I get eczema, and promptly ignored it. I went to a dermatologist after several months, and she diagnosed it as nummular eczema. It's true it looked very similar, but the lotions she suggested didn't help. I went to another dermatologist as they started to show up in other places. She took a skin test, and it came back positive for ringworm.
Avatar m tn My 16yr old daughter has been having a lot swelling and pain in her ankles, fingers and wrists. There is a lot of arthritis and lupus in my family-and I think she may be getting one of those conditions...but her blood work has all been normal. Most evenings she also develops hives on her back and arms. I've taken her to ER, but we still don't know what's causing these ods symtoms.
1415174 tn?1453243103 No I have had lots of general lab tests such as chem panel, Cbc, liver enzymes, lipid panel, iron studies all normal. Haven't been bitten by a tick nor been hiking or anywhere except the sidewalk. I have been tested for lupus but that was in my 20's. It is unusual to get lupus at 50 but not impossible. I had a colonscopy recently and it was negative as well as the upper GI. I don't have colitis or celiac. I certainly am not malnurished.
Avatar f tn Hello, I have a complicated medical question, because I feel sick and ill all the time, and my doctor does not know what is wrong. (I also get rashes every day, that are red and itch and last about an hour.) My Complete Blood Count test for red and white blood cells (CBC Test), was normal, but another test for Circulating Immune Complexes (CIC) was abnormal: RAJI Cell Assay >.78 Reference: <.
Avatar f tn I would ask your doctor to try sending you to a rheumatologist and get a complete work up and check for Lupus. Lupus can affect many organs in the body like your skin, kidneys, joints, connective tissue, heart, etc. and there are drugs to help control it and stop it from attacking your body. Good luck.
Avatar f tn (i) itchy skin with milaria-like rashes on body (ii) persistent headache (iii) nausea (iv) general weakness I'm in Ghana where Lyme disease is generally unheard of. What is wrong with me and what tests must I conduct? Please help!
Avatar m tn Hello, I was searching for terms related to Ehlers Danlos Type IV concurrent with mouth sores and lupus like rashes (which I've also had for years- since my 20s, and my daughter, 19, as well), and came upon your post. After my 4th genitourinary hematoma surgery this summer, we were sent to a Rheumatologist, who has just diagnosed me with VEDS.
4403156 tn?1354189853 In the case of Lupus-like conditions that also have as co-morbid states arthritis-like symptoms and several types of skin rashes, we often find systemic Mycoplasma or similar bacterial infections. The proof that these are important are that a high incidence of this type of infection is found in patients, and these patients respond to specific antibiotics that suppress these infections with slow resolution of signs and symptoms.
Avatar m tn Some autoimmune diseases affecting skin like lupus or scleroderma and thyrid disorders affecting skin can also cause similar skin appearance. Also large breasts with uneven fat distribution can cause dimpling affect. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind. Please consult your doctor regarding this. Avatar n tn I have lupus myself and I have never heard of that. Lupus can cause rashes. (I am referring to systemic lupus, aka SLE). There is another form of lupus called discoid lupus. If she has that, perhaps the lesions could be related. I don't know much about that kind. The systemic kind is known for affecting various organ systems (kidneys, lungs, heart, etc.) The common rash that many systemic lupus patients have is a "malar rash" which covers the nose and the upper part of the cheeks.
