Common Questions and Answers about Skin infection photos

infection

Avatar m tn The fingertip of her right ring finger is swollen with white dead skin which looks more like a fungal infection. No apparent necrosis, but the fingernail has separated and also *appears* to be infected with fungus. She has had IV antibiotics twice as well as antibiotic and antifungal pills, and it was non-responsive to the drugs. Tested negative for MRSA. Finger hurts and is pinkish-red. It is dry with no discharge.

Avatar f tn On and off over the past year I've had dry skin on my hands, the dry skin seems to come from small bubbles under the skin that come to the surface, it seems to affect both hands on the index finger and also the bottom corner of the palm. It does seem to come back in the same spots every few months and I do wash my hands probably a little much which dries them out, the reason I've started to ask is because it also looks to have appeared on my partners finger?
3104464 tn?1341394947 Ever since I was 16-17 years old, from time to time (about 2-3 times in 2 years) skin around the forehead of my penis would swell, start to itch and swelled places would become very wet. That continued for 3-4 days and then pass by as if nothing happened. This time same thing occurred, but with weird red spot on my pubis. At first the spot was itchy, but not all the time. Yesterday skin on that spot started to peel off lightly, and today it changed color from red to light purple.
Avatar m tn I don't normally look at posted photos, but I think you may have a minor skin condition called lichen planus. It's not an STD and harmless. Look it up on line and see if other posted photos look like yours. Also look in your mouth and see if there are whitish/lavender stripes on the inside of your cheeks. You should see a doctor for confirmation and treatment.
3714294 tn?1352270048 My husband has a very large mass of infected skin & hair that looks & smells awful!!! It causes him alot of pain!!! It is approximately 3 inches from his neck up & goes all the way across from ear to ear. I have a picture just not sure how to attach it. We cannot keep paying for dr.s when they cant even agree on what it is. We need to get it taken care of, we have been trying & dealing with it for the last 7 years now.
Avatar m tn opps sorry i just read the no posting photos thing. sorry.
Avatar m tn Only these -- HSV1, HSV2, and VZV -- cause infections that include skin blisters. EBV does not cause skin lesions of any kind, nothing at all like HSV. It is very unlikely your hand blisters are due to either mono (EBV) or herpes (HSV). Shingles (herpes zoster) might be a possiblity, and can be triggered by illnesses that transiently suppress the immune system, including mononucleosis.
Avatar m tn For about 1.5 years I've been dealing with a persistent discoloration, dryness, and bumpiness of my penis glans that has been resistant to regular treatment of fungal infection & balanitis in general. Photos here (NSFW!): https://imgur.com/a/LSpLN This was triggered after I was treated for what was diagnosed as folliculitis of the pubic area, either a fungal or bacterial infection that spread around my pubic area but resolved after 6-7 weeks.
Avatar m tn ve had this for quite a while now. I have looked at many std photos and have not found any photos that resemble the symptoms i have Any ideas would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn The doctors who have seen him said it is definitely not ring worm and the skin scraping came back negative for fungal infection. There are no skin specialists within 4 hours drive to our town so photos were emailed to the nearest city two weeks ago, but I have not yet received any feedback. It was his sixth birthday today and the photos have this rash moving down his face. All parents and children wanted to know what was the matter. The rash has also started to move down his legs.
Avatar f tn My 17 week old German shepherd puppy seems to have some type of skin infection or issue. She came from a dirty home and I noticed under her armpits she has weird marks and flaky skin. It's on both armpits and a little on her lower tummy. It looks like her skin is flaking off but still attached to her skin or hair. She's been itching a lot all over, not just in this area. She has a vet appointment Friday but I am just really worried. I'm posting pictures, someone help!
Avatar n tn You could consider such things as a staph or strep infection that frequently causes a rash or itchy skin as well. Or perhaps you have come in contact with a poison or have a bacterial or fungal infection. Scratching provides only temporary relief and doesn't promote healing of the underlying problem, it is best to avoid scratching if at all possible. If scratching breaks open the skin, bacterial infection can set in.
Avatar n tn ive been very tired and irratable as of late also. when i look up yeast infection photos it looks very similiar. i bought miconazole 7 vaginal anti fungal because i couldnt find anything for males and have been using it for a day. it seems to take the pain and itch away. PLEASE HELP!
Avatar m tn Hello, From the symptoms it can be a bacterial skin infection which is causing these blisters or pompholyx (although less likely). Pompholyx is also called dyshidrotic eczema; the first stage is acute and presents as itchy blisters on the hands, fingers and toes. Then the chronic stage shows more peeling, cracking, or crusting. Then the skin heals up, or the blistering may start again.
Avatar f tn It has been like this for two days. It looks like new skin is growing around my thumb. I thought I would be able to add photos which I have.
Avatar m tn I came home and shaved a little and clicked photos but it does not look like broken skin and when I touch it, it does not burn or pain. So it's not broken skin. I have attached a photo with this email. Please help me and advice me. Do I need to worry? I asked the sex worker. She said she is clean and gets tested regularly. I also asked her if she would have sex with me without a condom next week.
Avatar m tn However to completely rule out fungal infection, you should get KOH examination of the skin scrapings and fungal culture done. Also get a biopsy skin to rule out psoriasis. Psoriasis is a long-term (chronic) skin problem that causes skin cells to grow too quickly, resulting in thick, white, silvery, or red patches of skin.It is thought that psoriasis occurs when the immune system overreacts, causing inflammation and flaking of skin. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn A breakthrough infection is usually very mild with fewer skin lesions (usually less than 50) lasting only a few days, with no fever. Breakthrough infection are believed to occur in approximately 2 percent of vaccinations per year. The rate does not appear to increase with length of time since vaccination. Very interesting.
624326 tn?1223829190 This began five years ago as small patches and grew to the size in the photo and has now stopped growing. Prescribed anti dandruff shampoo to leave on skin overnight, no reduction at all. Becomes darker when exposed to sunlight. Only on both sides of the ribs. No pain or itching but nerve cells still responsive. Any help greatly appreciated.
