I have two failed implants due to infection which did not respond to Clindamycin. I also got a bad reaction to Clindamycin a feeling of big lump in throat, sore throat and severe heartburn. In spite of the fact that I drank at least 10ounces of water with each pill.
My question is since I'm allergic to penicillin. What antibiotic is effective for teeth and gum infections????

Thing is, blood work I had 5 days ago when I got started taking my clindamycin and bactrum now shows that I have no signs of infection in my blood, from CBC to my C-Protein. The redness is not gone and will turn dark red before going back to a lighter shade when i move my toe around like when I am walking, but I have no other symptoms whatsoever, and I feel totally normal head to toe. I would be appreciated if a few of you could take the time to give me your medical opinion.

HOWEVER, i have read that this drug is not commonly used to treat std's as there are so many better options. Is clindamycin going to work??? Thanks.
It can also be due to staphylococcal skin infections. Wash skin with antiseptic lotions daily to decrease bacteria. Treatment is by topical antibiotics and steroids. Local antibiotics of erythromycin and Clindamycin group also help. Retenoid group of drugs also help. Wear loose fitting clothes. Get your diabetes status checked as high blood sugar can also cause recurrent boils. Consult a skin specialist. Take care!

Hi I went in to the dentist a couple days ago to get a broken molar extracted. (I had a root canal done on it years ago and it has now got infected) It was extremely painful and tender to the touch but I had no visible swelling. Dentist sent me home with Vicodin & clindamycin to kill the infection before she could extract it in a few days. I know clindamycin is a top tier antibiotic. But I took it and the infection swelled and got more painful.

I was prescribed a ten day course of clindamycin for a gum infection, which it took care of. Six weeks later I developed severe diarrhea with terrible gut pain and fever. Had blood and mucous in stools an perhaps some intestinal lining. I lost 10 lbs and was very weak and the thought of food made me feel sick.. Emergency room diagnosed clostridium difficile after stool samples and CAT scan. I was put on a 14 day, 4x/day course of oral solution vancomycin which solved the problem.
Hoping that Clindamycin will work...If the Clindamycin does not work...is there another medicine that could do the trick?

It was really just when I had to pee, it felt like I had a cut down there, right after I would urinate(no discomfort while urinating, just after) My skin seemed to be infected, but since I have been taking the Clindamycin it seems to be a lot better, still minor uncomfortableness after masterbation, but the thing is I had not masterbated like a week before the pain started so it couldn't be from that, maybe the infection spread there? m using the clindamycin lotion twice daily, but progress has sort of plateaued. The clindamycin will get it to the point where it forms some new skin over the top but then starts to crack and peel again, and I'm back to square one.
