Skelaxin vs soma

Common Questions and Answers about Skelaxin vs soma

skelaxin

Avatar m tn Anyone know anything about skelaxin? My doc just sent a script for that To my pharmacy in place of soma....
Avatar m tn Soma is a muscle relaxer. I am on Norco an was on Soma a few months ago. I have muscle pain as well as arthritis and nerve pain in my back so the Soma did help with the muscle pain. Now that I'm not on Soma my back just burns with muscle pain. I really want to go back on it. Soma works right away when you take it. The only drawback is that it will make you sleepy.
Avatar f tn As the result of a back injury in February, I began taking Soma and 10 mgs of hydrocodone at night to help me sleep. I took no pain killers during the day, just Skelaxin. I stopped taking Skelaxin several weeks ago and am now in the process of discontinuing the Hydrocodone. I took the last Soma and 1/2 of a 5 mg tablet several nights ago. This is my second round with trying to get off this med. The problem is the insomnia or sleeplessness that occurs in the middle of the night.
402205 tn?1230481005 I will try to avoid them right now tho because they make me sluggish and I am already fatigued with my cut in dose of hydrocodne..anything can be abused...skelaxin is a fairly safe muscle relaxer.....
Avatar m tn My pain clinic is no longer writing for soma. I have had flexeril, robaxin, skelaxin before and they aren't as effective. What can I try?
210982 tn?1280983895 There are many other muscle relaxers such as skelaxin and robaxin that are non addictive. Try those instead. Soma is merely a barbiturate in sheep's clothing.
Avatar f tn t take during the day,as I have small kids and it made me VERY sleepy!) Then I was put on Skelaxin and I feel like that does nothing( 800mg. 3x day) I could take 2 at one time and still...nothing? I think I'm going to ask to go back on Flexeril(for bed time) to reduce my pain and spasms) Thanks!
Avatar m tn Like most I have always had general back pain I had several surgeries a few years ago where I was in the hospital 2 weeks with gallstones that dissolved and part of the sludge entered my pancreas that ate a hole through it causing 10 litters of fluid to build up behind my lungs. They basically cut me sternum to spine that & used a rib splitter. it causes pain under my breast still. Then last year was in a car accident that caused bulging discs to hit nerves in my lumbar and cervical.
Avatar m tn I HAVE ORDERED MY ALINIA, SKELAXIN AND REQUIP FROM CANADA. YOU DO HAVE TO HAVE A VALID SCRIPT. ON MY REQUIP AND SKELAXIN I JUST CAREFULLY PEELED LABELS AND COPIED THEM AND FAXED IN. I USE PROGRESSIVE RX. JUST GO TO THEIR WEBSITE. FROM WHAT I RESEARCHED THIS ONE IS CHEAPEST, SEEMS TO BE ON THE UP AND UP.
676302 tn?1237863491 In my experience I have found Soma to be helpful as well as Skelaxin. I would have a talk with your doctor and see what he/she suggests. Good luck to you.
Avatar m tn all he wants to do is give str=roid injections, the only relief ive had was soma c from a ear throat and nose doc ...when i tried to fill it, i found out it was blocked from my pain man doc, he gave me zanaflex that makes me fall asleep told his nurse that it makes me fall alseep ...he will not see me ....he has his nurse see me. I am in so much pain i was ready to go to the er last night.....2 slipped dics stenoisis , arthistis bone spores, pinched nerves arm and leg numb. migraine headaches.
Avatar n tn Hello Shirio and welcome to the Pain Forum: First let me tell you that I'm sorry for the discomfort. The meds you have are not meds that can help you type of pain. You need a stronger Muscle Relaxer like Flexeril or Soma. These will work much better than Skelaxin which in my opinion is the "Baby" of the Muscle relaxer meds. It is wise to stay on an anit-inflammatory like Motrin but you might want to try 800mg Ibuphropen (sp) Also.
149087 tn?1258453820 The reason I ask is because my fiance tells me that the soma makes me a zombie and he has read that it (soma) is higly addictive. Baclofen is in the same sort of catergory as soma. If anyone can relate or knows about baclofen can you please answer my question or give me some kind of feed back?
Avatar f tn Having some very bad lower back pain today that tylenol isn't touching. I was wondering about Skelaxin. I have some and have taken it in the past...but don't even remember side effects or how I felt taking it or anything. Is this addictive?Anybody know anything about it? Thanks!
Avatar m tn but unlike flexeril, zanaflex, skelaxin, soma breaks down into a metabolite that is habit forming,,,in its original form it is not so much so//but after it is metabolized, it becomes a substance that is habit forming making it different than other muscle relaxers on the market..and is becoming less and less RX-ed because of this A competent DR will usually have a patient other MRs before he offers soma..some will not RX it//Soma is very similar to a benzo addiction..very similar..
Avatar f tn Same thing with having a muscle relaxer to take as needed. Flexeril, Skelaxin, Robaxin, Baclofen, or Zanaflex. This is very useful for those times with bad muscle spasms... Again...an opiate does not target spasms. An opiate just makes our brain not "care" as much. And sure, it can be a small part of one's treatment...but it should never be the main part.
Avatar m tn I am prescribed Celebrex and skelaxin. I have a question about the skelaxin. Well my job is physically demanding I work in a hospital I do patient care I "boost" patients, transport patients, help very unsteady patients get out of bed and walk. So quite often I need to take my skelaxin. My lower back tightens up and I just need some relief. I have been taking it a bit more often than I did say 6 months ago.
Avatar f tn Hi there! Great that you are 10 days off the fentanyl! Congrats! I think that you may experience more intense withdrawal symptoms when you stop the Oxy. By still taking the Oxy, it has kept the symptoms from being too severe. Certainly, it is better to quit one drug at a time. You said that you were going to talk to your doctor about tapering the Oxy. Hopefully, he will support you in that. When do you see him? Try getting outside for a walk every days this will help you with the fatigue.
Avatar f tn I stopped shopping at VS for this very reason and instead am a fan of Soma. The ladies are always so helpful and can provide professional fittings, too. Congrats and good luck!
Avatar n tn I don't think that amount of wine alone would elevate you enzymes but with the drugs you're taking I really don't know. I believe that Skelaxin may be associated with elevated liver enzymes is some people but again, I am not sure of this. I would Google all of the drugs you're taking with the word "liver" or "hepatic" eg "Skelaxin Liver".
Avatar m tn I have had good luck in the past with a muscle relaxer by the name of Soma (caristoprodol) (spelling). Also valium is great for the spasms too.
Avatar m tn My doc just gave me Skelaxin for my back pain and said it might help. I have been trying to cut back taking hydro and I don't want to take anything that is going to make me woosey. I started into therapy last week and it is really making my back hurt. The nurosurgeon I saw said I have from L-1 to S-1 messed up and he does not think surgery would help any. So he just said take the hydro because your not taking that many (only 3 a day 7.
