Skelaxin and oxycodone

Common Questions and Answers about Skelaxin and oxycodone

skelaxin

I haven't taken 3 at night for over 5 years as my pain worsened and I now take morphine and oxycodone along with an antidepressant, gabapentin, and valium for all my ailments. I have noticed that now that 7 years have passed while still on flexeril, the drowsiness is very mild and lasts only for a short while shortly after taking the medicine. Sometimes I don't notice any drowsiness after I take it. So there is a good chance that the drowsiness will go away or lessen over time.
I am also on Oxy, but am also on MSContin and exforge (blood pressure) and skelaxin. I had my back rebuilt a couple years ago and have been on pain meds since. within the past 5 months, I haev had 4 episodes where my blood pressure shoots up and i get heart palipatations and went to the hospital for them. THey say its panic attacks, but I am thinking my body is growing intolerant to the pain meds.
Six of my spouse's sibblings and his father all suffered (died) directly and/or indirectly from chemical addictions. I accidentally discovered that my spouse is also getting another 120 tabs (2 week supply) of 5/325 from his PCP. He has been filling these each every two weeks and takes them himself (I am certain he does not perceive himself as having any 'problem' addiction-wise, but then I do not understand why go to 2 different doctors for the Rxs).
I went to pain management and they gave me oxycodone and those did not seem to even work. As I sit here I haven’t had one pill within 24 hrs and it’s hard. See I want off them, but I want something to take the pain away, which the 10/325 doesn’t even touch, the pain. I am only 35, tomorrow is my birthday and I want to eventually get my life back, be me, and take control again.
For the record, (and against all advice), I quit (tapered very slowly off) Prednisone, stopped the Methotrexate after taking for 7 weeks, stopped Gabapentin, Valium, Oxycodone and Percocett. I am going to a Naturopathic Doctor, who is also an Orthomolecular Nutritionist, a Darkfield Microscopist and acupuncturist. I am no longer on the meds (which caused more problems than the disease), and physically I feel so much better.
I'd never hear of the brand-name Opana before, but I can tell you the big difference between oxy's and dilaudid ... Oxycodone -- the opioid in Percocet/dan and Oxycontin, is derived from a part of the opium moleculed called thebaine -- that's why it gives you that "lift," hardly anyone with no knowledge of these drugs would expect. Many oxy addicts take so much of the stuff, they need to take a few benzos to sleep.
I've been prescribed skelaxin to help with the horrible cramped up groin issues and gluteus cramping and tightening. I personally think skelaxin is hit or miss. I do seem to notice some difference. Finally sent for a surgical consult on my spine (man he was wonderful) but he took one look at my spine and said people can function with my back issues for years. That I'd eventually need repairs but not now. He suggested it was my hips. So.
librax, skelaxin, oxycodone, fentanyl patches, and topical metronidazole also. Still the pain is unbearable at times! My colon/rectal dr.is stumped, says my fissure has healed, so he has referred me to a dr. at Rush Presbytarian Hospital in chicago where I am to have a colonoscopy sept. 8th with Dr. Theodore Saclarides.Do you think the procedure will be able to determine the problem I am having? Do you have any ideas or suggestions as to my problem?
We have been with the pain management doctor for just over a year now, but we are constantly fighting my husband's tolerance. My husband is a big guy and he has always been able to drink and take the strongest medication with no effect on his body what so ever.
I got sick of it so I went to the doctor who checked my ears and said that it did look sore in there and perhaps I had an infection so they prescribed a low dose of amoxicillin. I took about 1/3 of the dose and stopped because the symptoms went away. I didnt like the side effects (bad stomach) so I stopped taking it since the vibrating had stopped. The vibrating came back though after a few days, and it became a constant sense of vibrating.
Our local Docotr keeps giving my husband more and more drugs and the pharmacist is concerned about the amount and combination of drugs that my husband is on, Skelaxin, Effexor, Lyrica, Maxalt, Ultram and has just recently started him on Oxycodone. He also has glaucoma so he must be careful about some of the drugs he takes. This drugs don't seem to help at best he says that they will take "the edge off" of the headaches. Is there something else to be done or where can we go?
I think it's getting to the point where I have to ask my family doc to prescribe me something stronger for pain control, because the pain is getting more and more frequent. I'v e tried regular otc meds like tylenol and Ibruprofen and in the past nsaids like Toradol and Naproxen. But they just dont seem to relieve the pain. Would you have any suggestions Dr J?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have talked to the neurosurgeon who did the surgery and he shrugged his shoulders and said I have no idea and sent me back to my neurologist. He gave me a series of injections in both shoulders and the pain stopped for a couple days but then came right back. Then we tried message therapy, it helps but only for a short period. And I have tried changing my pillows on my bed and sleeping in different positions and nothing seems to help for long term. What can I do?
I have 2 bulging diclsc in the lumbar fegion that are sitting on the l4 l5 nerve and sciatic nerve. Plus arthritis in upper lumbar region. I have been on so many meds and the only thing that helps is percocet. Any suggestions? My doc wants mue on thelonger acting meds with minimal break through meds. I dont do well on oxycontin, any suggestions?
I am a 27 year old nurse with two small children who injured my back 3 months ago while transferring a patient. Currently I am being treated with oxycodone, skelaxin, Celebrex, and physical therapy.
I was referred to pain management from my neuro and my new pmd is sending me for a urine drug screen. Reading from my paper, I'm being screened for Amphetamines, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Cannabinoid, Cocaine, Opiates and Phencyclidine. That's it. And they are not using a gas chromotography to test for opoids. For those of you in pain management, is this just a baseline type screening, or are they digging with those?
Anyway, in November 2012, I started getting the numbness and pain, and my back would just LOCK up, so after 2 MR's and 2 CT scans, my neurosurgeon want a to operate and part of that is a fusion. Findings on last CT Scan: the vertebral body heights are maintained. 0.7 c. L-5 -S-1 degenerative anterolisthesis as well as 0.4 cm L-2 - L-3 retrolisthesis is noted. There is moderate L-5 - S-1 and severe L-4 -5 disk degeneration. L-1 - 2, no canal or foraminal stenosis.

Hi and Welcome Tramadol Warriors, Please come on in and make yourself comfy. All are welcome.
Xrays are not the best diagnostic tools - best bet is to get an MRI. My med solution that works best at night is skelaxin (muscle relaxer) to relieve the spasms and if that is not enough I take an oxycodone. Even with the pain meds - my neck and/or lower back end up waking me up every two to three hours. It was bad enough that I only had one sleeping position at night because of ny neck - now I don't even have that because of my lower back.
but in my expeirence on the suboxone for 9 months was the same w/d's as oxycodone. I am ct now for 8 days, and it is worth every hour I wait for the next. I'd talk to your pysc and see what he says about cutting that 6 months to say 3 months, there are plenty more here just like us so please keep posting and stay clean.
If I knew that there was a 100% chance of dying with downing 210mg of morphine, 2400mg of sertraline, 600mg of topamax, 1600mg of Skelaxin, and 10mg oxycodone I would. But, y'know, I'd want to do something right the first time. And those are all I have immideate access to. I'm being stupid right now. It's out of character. I hate this.
buprenorphinum and Loramet to sleep..... and, I think that loramet is nasty for my situation but, don't know what to take to sleep.....;since, I am also becoming tolerant to it. Need so badly help....please help me.....
The Doctor took me off of the Morphine and back on the oxycodone. He increased the oxy's to 15mg. so that should help. He also gave me a script for an anti-depressant. One to take during the day and one to take at bed time. I'm confident that this combination will work for me. By the way..do you have health insurance?
The most recent Xray ( first Xray / MRI was done on my lower back ) was taken of the middle of my back and showed disc compression at T8 T9 T10 AND T11 and my doctor said it was probably pushing on my spinal cord.
Muscle tightness/knots/pain areas can easily be identified by anyone feeling my calves. Massaging and Stretching for any length of time does not relieve any of the tightness. At age 29, I tore my right ACL while playing soccer -- had surgery to fix it, though while undergoing PT, almost all my pain was in my calf (not so much the knee) At age 31, I tore my left ACL while playing soccer -- had surgery to fix it. Again, almost all my pain was located in the calf.
I have about 8 to 9 migraines still a month and every CT and MRI still comes back normal. Has anyone else has any like this or does anyone have any suggestions? I also have a thyroid problem, and had my colon removed two years ago in January but have had minor complication with both, to say the least compared to other stories I've heard. Thanks for any help given!
Things had been going well but suddenly I developed a bony protrusion and several muscle knots in my neck above the surgery site and lost the 20 or so degrees I had gained in my range of motion and am back to being in significant pain in a matter of just 3 or 4 days. Muscle relaxers (Flexeril, Soma and Skelaxin) haven't dented the muscle spasms and only 15mg of oxycodone dents the pain when it gets bad.
Please come in and make yourself Comfy!
