Skelaxin and naproxen

Common Questions and Answers about Skelaxin and naproxen

skelaxin

So he just said take the hydro because your not taking that many (only 3 a day 7.5) and try this Skelaxin and let me know in 3 months how your doing. I have really tried to cut back on the hydro but my back hurts so bad it wakes me up (when I can sleep). Please let me know if any of you have had any experence with this for back spasms. Thanks.
I took it and had no relief. i returned to the doctor and was prescribed naproxen 500mg twice a day and skelaxin 3 times a day I was also given tramadol for the pain. I had to stop taking the tramadol due to nausea. The doctor gave me a shot of toradol in the office to help with the spasms I was having in my middle back. I again returned to the doctor because about two weeks after the initial injury, began to have numbness in my left foot and left hand.
This did not give me much relief so I called into the doctor's office again and he gave me 10mg diazepam twice a day and I have been using Naproxen Sodium with it for a muscle relaxant. Skelaxin and Diazepam produce a very uncomfortable sensation in me. I'm getting some relief from the 10mg diazepam. The next thing my doctor is going to do is to give me botox to try and get rid of my migraines and other headaches. What is going on with my head, neck, and back????????
Lyrica, Soma, Vicoden, Flexirol, Tegretol, Cymbalta, Skelaxin, Naproxen, Amitriptline, Birth Control, Topamax, Steroid Packs, Norco, etc.. No Relief! I have never been thru anything like this so it’s hard for me to believe that I just make it up in my head. I apologize for my novel but I’m left with another dead end. The pain is unbearable, it’s sharp and constant, and I would go to the ER everyday if I could afford it.
I take the muscle relaxer Skelaxin, but it doesn't seem to help. I also take Naproxen to aid with inflammation and pain; however thise medicine only upset my stomach and causes acid reflux.
Prescribed anti-inflammatory (Naproxen) and muscle relaxer (Skelaxin). Told me to take as needed (didn’t have to take the full bottle). Took prescriptions for 4 days, Skelaxin caused stomach cramping even when taken as directed. Urine test came back cloudy with high white blood cell count. Concluded was very dehydrated and sent off for tests to determine if infection was present. Also had me go in for blood tests. All came back normal except Vitamin D.
I have tried all the antidepresants and tricyclic antidepressants and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and anticonvulsants and ibuprofen and naproxen and tramadol and all combos and I am feeling lost can't hardly move some days...please help with any suggestions.
We have been with the pain management doctor for just over a year now, but we are constantly fighting my husband's tolerance. My husband is a big guy and he has always been able to drink and take the strongest medication with no effect on his body what so ever.
Hey there, Before you headed out to the ER after all that****Drama, I replyed on 2 of your posts (3 pages back), and have been praying for you since. When you get this, KEEP US UP TO DATE! Our heart and prayers are with you. I think was ausome, you didn't have to take a shot of the Vic.!!!! the first night! I say one thing to that...AMEN!
I think it's getting to the point where I have to ask my family doc to prescribe me something stronger for pain control, because the pain is getting more and more frequent. I'v e tried regular otc meds like tylenol and Ibruprofen and in the past nsaids like Toradol and Naproxen. But they just dont seem to relieve the pain. Would you have any suggestions Dr J?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I currently take 800mg 3xday of Skelaxin and there are no dependence issues at all, so I think you would be fairly safe not relapsing. I have read posts on here regarding soma which is a muscle relaxer and apparently it is addicting. You can also take upto 800mgs of IBprofen 3xday which really helps with muscle and joint pain. I'm not telling you to do this, just a recommendation, check with your doctor first.
I have talked to the neurosurgeon who did the surgery and he shrugged his shoulders and said I have no idea and sent me back to my neurologist. He gave me a series of injections in both shoulders and the pain stopped for a couple days but then came right back. Then we tried message therapy, it helps but only for a short period. And I have tried changing my pillows on my bed and sleeping in different positions and nothing seems to help for long term. What can I do?
physical therapy, seen a chiropractor, taken 4 differed muscle relaxers (flexaril 5 and 10mg, skelaxin, robaxin, and one other that I can't remember), taken 3 different NSAIDS (ibuprofen, naproxen, and mobic), a steroid injection, and taken more percocets than I can count. The pain only occurs after I put weight on my spine, when I wake up in the morning I feel fantastic, no pain at all. But once I stand up and put weight on my spine, the pain starts.
lol I hope it is better soon and that the muscle relaxer helps. That just reminded me that I have two skelaxin sitting on the shelf. I've felt weird about taking them this week since I've quit so I haven't. It seems like I'm worried about EVERY drug now! But I've never really abused muscle relaxers (unless I took Soma with a huge dose of vicodin to "add to it") so I guess taking one skelaxin just to help with the pain would be different if I had to do that.
I have a pinch nerve on my left shoulder (going to get it Xray to see what it really is), which only gets aggravated when I'm stress or overwork it in the gym. My Dr has tried Flexeril, Skelaxin, 500 mg of naproxen and it hasn't work. Now she prescribe tramadol. I have read bad things about it and its side effects. Everything is dated from a few years ago, so I would like update from anyone that is taking it. I was prescribed 50mg/4 times a day as needed.
and he wants to treat with Skelaxin, Naproxen and a pack of Medrol before we rush into an MRI and explore additional surgery. Any thoughts?

I've tried cold and hot pads, pain relief gels, tylenol, naproxen, the tramadol they prescribed and none of it works. Three pills helps some though. I read online that you can take up to 300 mg in a day. I just want to be careful with my medication and don't want to have a nasty withdrawal when my pulled muscles are better and go off it. I already had a ultrasound, CT, and MRI done. 12 doctor appointments, 2 ER visits in the past 4 weeks and was misdiagnosed many times.
He did a general in office check for an aneursm. No CT, No MRI. He gave me Naproxen and skelaxin. Neither helped. My neck, shoulder, and arm pain worsened. I went back 4 days later. He found loss of grip in my right hand, numbness in my entire right arm, he then gave me prednizone, kept me on the skelaxin (as i have traveling muscle spasms for no known reason) and he is sending me to physical theropy.
And if my back gets bad and really tight which it does fairly often right now cause I had spinal surgery 5 months ago two bone fusions and two screws but neway back to what u was sayin when it gets tight I also take baclofen which is a muscle relaxent and between those two I have no problems and I prefer baclofen over flexeril cause flexiril knocks me out and also skelaxin is also another good muscle relaxer to that my doc said tell ppl bout causeost docs will give u handful of samples of and i

4 years ago, at my second job at a plant where we produced lawn mower motors, I crushed my finger, when a motor came hurdling down the assembly line and pinned my finger, I was diagnosed with Osteopenia and told that I needed to come back and have a Dexa Scan done, to determine the extent of this problem. I was prescribed 1500 mg of Calcium and Vitamin D daily. Needless to say seven months later my current symptoms appeared and yet to ease off.
I have been told by a doctor that I do indeed have a pinched nerve and was prescribed Skelaxin 800mgs to be taken twice a day and Naproxen 500 mgs to be taken 3 times a day. I started taking the meds a day and one half ago and have no relief. How long does it take this medicine to start working? What can I do to help it?

As of now I've sought no treatment (still waiting for insurance to kick in; hopefully in the next couple of weeks). I've taken skelaxin to try and relieve the tension in my neck, and all the different over the counter meds. I've taken vicoden which will normally kick any pain that I may have after taking it just once but it only works for a couple of hours so I just didn't take any more. I tried Sinol the capsaicin spray, and it kind-of worked.
again no change in the constant fellings as earlier described. i have been perscribed, (and this is just out of memory) skelaxin, naproxen, flexarel, bubitual (forvicet something like that). i have been told that my c4-5 c5-6 & c6-7 are herniated. i seem to seem to be able to understand that i believe that my symptoms are directly related with my neck discomfort, yet every dr. i have seen seems baffled by my condition or tells me i am suffering from anxiety attacks.
800 IB or 550mg of Naproxen 2 to 2 x daily (RX Perscription) (Good Vitamin Shop) Bottled (refrigerated Fish Oil, and Pressed Flaxseed Oil) they are all you essential fatty acids along with GLA which helps produce the good fatty tissues and fluid in your muscles and joints and... 1500mg Glucosamine / 1200 Chondroitin / 500-1000mg MSM My knees were so bad, that not even the 7.5 Hydro's would take any of the pain away.

These last two incidents may have been caused by taking Doans (I had avoided ANY NSAID's for the last year since the bleed) and then Skelaxin and Lortabs (3 and 4 skelaxin daily for a couple of weeks). Now my GP wants to do a hemoccult, and send me back through the mill again.
Medicine such as ibuprophen (Advil, Motrin) and naproxen (Advil) can be quite useful to reduce swelling and local pain. Good luck.
