Skelaxin and darvocet

Common Questions and Answers about Skelaxin and darvocet

skelaxin

My family physician has been treating me for the severe back and leg pain with 4/Darvocet a day, 300mg Celebrex a day, 900 mg Neurontin, and Fexeril 3-10mg/day for about 15 months. My Neurosurgeon has deemed me perm. disabled and I have begun receiving Social Security Disability. The medication my family Dr. has prescribed does not do much for pain control. He recommended seeing a Pain Center Mgmt in my area.
i read about a condition know as cervical spondyilosis. i think i spelled it right. it sounds more like my symptoms. i have tried skelaxin, darvocet, flexeril, and every drug under the counter.
I have had an ABG, chest xray, Echo, EKG, MRI and MRA of the brain and cervical-vessels, and Pulmonary function testing. Everything negative. Should I have some additional testing done in your opinion..such as an MRA study or CT scan of my chest? Do you have ANY ideas about what this might be because it's ruining me and my families life? I am a 28 year old male, non smoker.
I was prescribed Darvocet but it does nothing for my pain. Skelaxin does nothing either. I was just started on Lyrica and have noticed a slight decrease in pain but I still have flares that are unbearable. I wish I could offer you suggestions but so far, I'm in the same boat as you.
I have talked to the neurosurgeon who did the surgery and he shrugged his shoulders and said I have no idea and sent me back to my neurologist. He gave me a series of injections in both shoulders and the pain stopped for a couple days but then came right back. Then we tried message therapy, it helps but only for a short period. And I have tried changing my pillows on my bed and sleeping in different positions and nothing seems to help for long term. What can I do?
Ultram is considered a non-narcotic but it acts on the opiate receptors in the brain like it is, so it also has it's abuse and dependence problems that goes with narcotics. I started on Darvocet (Propoxyphene-generic name) and it worked okay for me until I built a tolerance for it. You only go up from there if you have chronic pain. I wish the best for you and I hope you have or find a GREAT doctor who will really listen to you. That is half the battle.
They dont believe me that Im in chronic pain and I cannot perform daily duties aroudn the house. Ive tried Ultram, Darvocet, Fiorect (have chronic painful headaches) Flexeril, Skelaxin and tons of other non-narcotics but never given anything stronger. Anyway, my neck pain is killing me. Its the worse pain out of everything I have. I dont know what to do.
Pain down my legs, cramps in my legs, lower back pain - sharp and dull - boy I miserable. I almost broke down and took a Darvocet but lordy do I hate those things!
For the last eleven years, I have been prescribed various pain meds and muscle relaxers, from skelaxin and darvocet, to hydrocodone and flexeril. I had allergic reactions to some of them, and others don't help unless taken in large doses. I don't like to take pain medication, so the only time I do is when I can no longer hold my head up, or if it interferes with work. I have been going to physical therapy for approximately 2 1/5 months.
I have tried taking SKELAXIN but that doesn't do anything for my pain, and I am so afraid of becoming dependent on narcotics but they seem to be all that helps this terrible pain....I take Anaprox along with Darvocet and that eases the pain a bit (or makes me not care about it as much).....How do you fix a pinched nerve??? What are the best meds to deal with the pain???? Thanks much in advance!!!!

He has prescribed cataflam, skelaxin and darvocet. What I would like to know is if this is a permanent condition or is there a cure for it? Also I read online where it is really easy to misdiagnose Horner's Syndrome and could very well be Raeder's Syndrome. Is this possible that this could have happened?
Can you give me some tips on what I may have? I have also tried Medrol-DosePak, Indomethacin, Daypro, Flexaril, Darvocet, Skelaxin, and Robaxin. They had no effect on my condition or pain.
I have gone to my GP and he has referred to a neurologist but I cannot see him until May 7. He has prescribed cataflam, skelaxin and darvocet. I have an on and off burning pain in my elbow along with arthritic type pains in my wrist and hand. I know that my high levels of stress and anxiety will worsen the pain and very regularly trigger the pain if it is not currently bothering me. I have seen numerous types of doctors or medical professionals major and alternative. My regular physician has seen me since before the pain started and is familiar with my problem as the first person i went to for help.
Hi Friends, Welcome! Please make yourself at home ... snuggle down by the fire and hang on. It's a bumpy ride.
I have RA and was also prescribed darvocet, initially, before the horrible tramadol made it's appearance. And I can not tell you how much better I feel without any opiate help. I will take aleve in the a.m. to help with the joint pain and an excedrin, if need be, for any additional pain. I also thought there was no way I was going to be able to manage the pain without narcotics. I could not have been more wrong. Congrats on getting here!
during social security revies they wanted me to go to a pscyciatrist....she put me on lithium and zoloft and ambilify and then she prescribed clonapin. During this time my pain was still bothering me in my back, so I went to all three doctors..as soon as I know it my subutex doctor started prescribing clonapin...Then came another rocky relationship and me and my new huband were going to get divorced , in fact I was just linig with him while I awaited my social.
I have tried many medications from my doctor including Cymbalta, Skelaxin, Vicodine, Percocet, Darvocet, ect. Nothing seems to work or I am allergic to it (vicodine, percocet). Then on top of that I have chronic fatigue. I have tried Provigil, Amentidine, & even Ritalin (tablet & capsul). Neither of these worked either. I am loseing sleep because of the nerve pain & causes me to be more fatigued. My thyroid have been checked & is normal. I have even tried yoga & ta chi.
I have also tried Medrol-DosePak, Indomethacin, Daypro, Flexaril, Darvocet, Skelaxin, and Robaxin. They had no effect on my condition or pain. Thanks, Brian = Your situation is quite complex. It sounds like your doctors were looking for the right things: arthritis in the hips, compression of nerve roots in the lumbar spine, etc. My experience is often that a large amount of pain can accompany minimal lesions.
I also have degenerative disc disease but alot of people my age I know (62) have it as well. I have neck pain, some back but Darvocet and muscle relaxers (Skelaxin) helps quite a bit. But, so I could get around & do things, I found a couple of wheelchairs. One I usually take with me. Walking, like you, is a problem so I sit in a chair and scoot or wheel around so I get exercise and feel like a human being rather than having to lay flat for hrs on end.
I read somewhere on one of these boards that Darvocet is milder than the Vicodin and Norco. Is this true? Today is day 5 and I have 1 Darvocet left. What I have been taking these last few days is considreably less than what I have been taking for about the last year...about 10 or more Norco a day. Could this be considered "Tappering"? (Albeit...involuntarily!) So where am I in the withdrawl process? The medication I received has lessened the withdrawl symptoms, but I'm worried...
Pain *****. Please be careful with Darvocet - and any other narcotics! - weak or not. They are so addicting, and before you know it you need them just because you need them - not necessarily for the pain. Best of luck to you.
(11 to be exact) I saw my doctor again about 10 days ago, and he says that the bone plug is in place but there is still a lot of movement and my neck is not healing at all! I am now on Neurontin (twice daily), Anexia (3 times daily) and Skelaxin (3 times daily and when I'm not drugged to the max, I feel like someone has hit me in the back of the neck with a ball bat. My arms a extremely weak, numbness in both arms and hands. I have never had so much pain in simply washing my hair.
5mg), Amitriptaline and Skelaxin and NONE of it is working. I need stronger NARCOTICS and I don't know how to present this to the doctor without sounding like an idiot or drug seeker. I have never been in SOOO much pain in my life. My entire left side (leg, back, buttock) is in weird bouts of numbness, extreme pain, tingling, falling alseep feeling....it's horrible. I can't stand for more than one minute. How do I get it across to my doctor?
At 2weeks for me i was hurting so bad i thought i had messed up my fusion. So i went to see my my doc and had an xray and was told it was fine. He gave me a RX and said it was my last one. So i have had nothing for pain since 3 weeks after surgery.
