907968 tn?1292622204 With salmon, though, to the best on my knowledge - farm raised salmon is depleted of the benefits that really make salmon a great health choice. Salmon from the sea is the way to go for the Omega 3 oils and other nutrients that come from life in the sea. There are limits to how much you should eat per week due to mercury in the fish. You can research this on the web. I had a quintuple bypass 2 years ago at age 49. No more fried or buttery food for me. Plus lots of veggies and fruit.
862235 tn?1336060295 The only thing I have read about the type of salmon that is the most healthy -- and I believe it -- is to eat wild salmon and not farmed salmon. Farmed salmon are raised on a grain-based diet, and as a result, their bodies don't contain the high levels of Omega 3 fatty acids that plankton-eating wild salmon do. In addition, farmed salmon flesh has been found to contain unhealthy levels of toxic PCBs. So eat wild-caught salmon.
Avatar n tn For a six-pack to show, you must reduce body fat. The body fat percentage necessary to reveal a cut torso varies according to your genes and body type, but for most men, a percentage of 6 to 8 percent will reveal abs, while for women require a percentage of about 11 to 13 percent. To reduce body fat, reduce calories below what you burn daily, which can be determined by finding your basal metabolic rate. A 250- to 500- deficit daily will lead to a 1/2- to 1-pound weight loss in a week.
Avatar n tn We all know that no amount of sit-ups or crunches will give you a six- pack! A six-pack is the result of a clean diet as stated above, low body fat and hard, hard training. Crunches are what I consider a good "finisher" at the end of your core training, poor form often results in not much else than a sore neck. Instead, work your core with dynamic stabilizing moves.
518117 tn?1429276273 I also have purchased Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil. I just add the salmon oil to the wet food. I know I am very lucky that Hissie is liking this diet change. I thought maybe there would be problems switching her food. But, I underestimated my old girl. Hissie is pooping like clockwork now. Vet did say it was Hissie's diet, that had caused this recent constipation and hospitalization. I already knew that, as you good people educated me on Hissie's nutrition.
Avatar n tn High protein diets are a current fad, and some of them might one day prove out -- we just have to see what happens when we have a lot of years of people eating this way and see what happens to them. The main diet since the invention of agriculture, which made modern economies and the corresponding advances that ultimately came with clean water and abundant food that increased our lifespans, is grains, legumes, and fruits and veggies.

462827 tn?1333168952 I have my Westie back on 4 Health Salmon and White Fish Gibbles and Salmon canned. So far, about two months, no more problems with Yeast or at least no eating the fur off his legs. I'd like to have a supply of Ketoconozole tables, but my vet will not give me a prescription beyond what is needed for the period she specifies.
Avatar n tn High levels of meat consumption and seafood can cause more flare-ups of gout. Foods such as beef, pork, lamb, sardines, bacon, liver, salmon, and turkey should be eaten in smaller quantities. (That;s why many have gout flares around Thanksgiving! Lots of turkey and ham!) People who have gout attacks should definitely avoid alcohol, especially beer. A recent study discussed the effects vitamin C may have on reducing gout attacks. Here's a little link: http://health.usnews.
Avatar n tn 30pm my face starts flushing and vision blurs. It continues to get worse as time goes on and sometimes i get hive look rashes on my forearms. 12832842 tn?1448728801 Astaxanthin is from my understanding the natural colour pigment that occurs in wild salmon and due to their natural diet of krill and shrimp but please keep in mind that 'natural' ain't always 'natural', the farm bred salmon (mass market products ie supermarket salmon) actually isn't high in Astaxanthin as it has a natural grey pigment, farm bred salmon have chemical additives, so it's usually artificially coloured to get the same salmon pink colour as wild salmon
Avatar f tn m not woken in the middle of the night with the need to use the bathroom, it seems to be limited to the mornings. No weight loss (have actually inexplicably gained nearly 30 pounds in the last six months), no fever, itching, nausea or vomiting. Some background: I am a 30yr old female, no children. Formerly a heavy smoker but down to less than a pack a week, hoping to completely quit soon. Rarely drink alcohol, at the most maybe two or three beers in a week.
Avatar f tn My husband has always loved sushi and before he started treatment, he'd eat it about once a week or every 2 weeks. During treatment, shouldn't he stop eating it completely or am I being overly cautious? For the most part, he doesn't touch red meat, eats cooked fish (salmon, halibut, monk, etc.) about once a week, lots of raw veggies and lots of fruit.
Avatar f tn but I want them to be healthy fats. An example meal would be 6 oz of salmon with lemon and a bowl full of veggies with butter on top. I do have a problem over salting...and I eat more protein than anything. My liver has no fibrosis or cirrhosis. Do you think this is an okay meal plan? I would be 4 times a day like this and one snack of v8 with a string cheese or granola or wheat toast. I can't button my pants or afford a new wardrobe! I want my body back!!
Avatar f tn I normally eat salmon, flake, tuna, barramundi, fish fingers and fish cakes.. and most of those are high level. :( im struggling with meat it makes me gag !

Avatar n tn Hi Everyone, I have been trying these for months and months but it doesn’t help me anymore. I am talking about six pack abs that I am trying to get. I joined a gym for this and the trainer told me that I would get them…but NOOOO!! That did not help me and later on I have tried a few tips that I have been suggested by my friends but that also was of no use (the whole thing helped the abs a little…but not as I wanted).
671251 tn?1236116671 Eggs and certain kinds of fish are good sources. I bought some canned salmon which is an excellent source. It said not to eat salmon more than once a week though because it may have traces of mercury in it. My friend Mary who is a dietitian said to buy the Alaskan Salmon because it is less likely to have mercury. It was very cheap and I made salmon cakes which were very good and quick to make.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately there is no perfect diet and there no perfect diet for diabetes. But avoiding simple carbs is good for everyone. A BG meter is a good tool to use. Check out everything. Even beans. Yes some people have a very large and long lasting spike on beans, even though books suggest it as a good choice. Supplements can help some people. If you want to go in that direction consider things like chromium, they help some people control BG.
Avatar f tn I eat my 3 main meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) with a protein, veggie, and/or grain.. brown rice, chicken breast, salmon, broccoli, quinoa (I buy steamable bags of rice and vegetables, cuts prep time down so much)... things like that! 3 other small meals in between (celery with peanut butter and a glass of green tea, grapefruit with a cup of yogurt, crackers and almond butter, chopped up mixed fruit.) I cook, a lot.
Avatar f tn 11 so yea I look a little piggy right now lol I will turn 22 weeks this week is it bad to go on a diet ?
193137 tn?1367880063 I moved to a higher rated Salmon and Sweet Potato None Grain, Limited Ingredients. Note the Salmon comes first, not the SP, that means Salmon is the main ingredients, and the specifics following claim no artificial colors/flavors/etc, and no grain is just that. Science Diet is silent on such important items.
Avatar n tn Wild-caught salmon from Alaska is a yes, farmed salmon from the Atlantic is a no.) There are a lot of pregnancy and diet websites, check them out. Please see a doctor. Prenatal care is very important to produce a healthy baby.
Avatar f tn I eat sushi all the time and a few weeks ago had raw salmon and all is good. Pregnant ladies in Japan do it all the time.
