Avatar m tn Of the total number of subjects [N=3884] in Phase II and III clinical studies of Sitagliptin, 725 patients were 65 years and over, while 61 patients were 75 years and older. No overall differences in safety or effectiveness were observed between subjects 65 years and over and younger subjects. While this and other clinical experience have not identified differences in responses between the elderly and younger patients, greater sensitivity of some older individuals cannot be ruled out.

1961140 tn?1450738712 Hello All, I completed a 12 week clinical trial of two meds in one pill from Merck. Grazoprevir is an improved pan genotypic protease inhibitor, and Elbasvir is a NS5A inhibitor. These Merck drugs should hit the market this Summer, I would think. The director of the clinical trial wrote me, and said the relapse rate of those in the clinical trials who achieved a SVR is 1%. It is worth noting that figure may change, as these meds are still so new.
Avatar f tn Several other European health authorities also required Merck to make these safety label updates, including the United Kingdom’s Medical and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency. However, Merck did not make the same safety label updates in the United States until the summer of 2011.

Avatar m tn Statin drugs are not well proven for women, and may contribute to the insulin resistance. Weight loss and very low carb diet may result in independent improvements in lipid profile.
Avatar m tn The products in question are Temodar (temozolomide) for brain cancer and hepatitis C and cancer drugs PegIntron (pegylated interferon alfa-2b) and Intron A (interferon alfa-2b), according to Merck's just-published quarterly report. All three of the drugs were acquired when Merck bought Schering-Plough in 2009.
720656 tn?1311040235 Do you think that these doctors are saying this for their own scheduling and monitoring of patients and not necessarily due to the availability of the medication? Seems like Merck would want to get as much out there as possible before the other drug is available and cuts into their profits. Just a thought.
Avatar f tn that is absolutely amazing well done you! Please keep us posted and i am so glad that you are feeling good most of the time.
233616 tn?1312787196 Yup, for a reading of the meeting with Merck Schering and their boceprevir drug check out the link. I haven't heard of anything on behalf of Vertex and telaprevir but I'm sure they're not wasting any time either as many ppl expect telaprevir to be approved first. In August Merck Schering said that they will be filing an NDA in 2011. Vertex has their Ambassador program intact and waiting in the wings to promote tx and whatever else comes down the pipeline.
Avatar f tn thanks for posting! The AASLD embargo is lifting (boce presentation schedule for tomorrow) so there will probably be a flood of re-analyses of the data presented. The full text of the boce prior-failures abstract is available from the aasld site as abstract 216. Comparing the data there with the Merck press-release points out a couple of details left out from the glossy, good news, press release.
4478309 tn?1356061667 Going through the diagnosis process.. MRI showed multiple lesions in brain and one in spine. LP results were high in 4 areas: CSF IGG/ALB Ratio. CSF IGG Index. IGG Synthesis Rate CSF. and Oligoclonal Bands, CSF. With these results my doctor has said it is RMMS. My sister worries this is not enough to give a positive diagnosis. I'm comfortable with my doctor and trust he is correct. Anyone think I need more testing, second opinion? Just based on your experience with getting diagnosed.

Avatar m tn The gun. Merck robs you without using a gun. Very clever, taking advantage of peoples' medical conditions.
1253246 tn?1332073310 We are thrilled to work with Merck and Gregg Allman to help educate and empower patients with chronic hepatitis C – this has been a focus of the American Liver Foundation for 35 years," said Newton Guerin, acting CEO and chief operating officer, ALF. "People don't often talk openly about their hepatitis C, which contributes to misinformation and isolation for those infected with the virus.
Avatar f tn I have recently been diagnosed with HPV (not shown in a pap, just via a HPV test) and even more recently found out that I have polyps on my cervix. Do the two have any relation? Can HPV cause polyps? I know the two have to do with the cervix. I am 24 years old and have not had any children/miscarriages. Thank you.
