Avatar m tn Over-use of computers can cause headaches because of poor posture (tension headaches) or because of looking at the computer screen for too long (eye-strain headaches or migraine headaches). Also, changes in sleep schedule can trigger migraine headaches. I would really go to the doctor because if it is a migraine headache, you will need a prescription medication and only doctors can prescribe prescription medication... you cannot buy it without a doctor's prescription.
Avatar n tn A sinus infection due to a tooth infection is usually in the maxillary sinues, so a Neilmed Sinus Rinse is probably best for you--available at drugstores for about $13
Avatar n tn who said this was a sinus infection. I searched online and did not find anything suggesting a sinus infection can be caused by a tooth extraction. I read Sinus Infection on Mayo Clinic 's website and it describe more serious immune system problems can cause it , now i am really freaking out. It has been about 7 days now , anyone got any opinions or advise ? I never had this before and if anyone has any opinions , please help.
Avatar m tn All the tests came back normal. The doctor said that it could be a sinus infection, and all he could do is prescribe an anti-biotic. Can anyone shine any light on my problem ?.
Avatar n tn Your issue may be a fungal infection in your sinus which is what I have. The Mayo clinic have already studied and identified it. The steriod sprays will not do much good because they end up encouraging fungal growth. It didn't help me at all. You also have to be carefull about antibiotics because it will kill the underlying bacterial infection which often goes hand in hand with fungal, but will also make the fungus grow.
Avatar n tn I totally relate. I have the same sinus infection problem. I don't know what it is, exactly, but as soon as I get off the antibiotics I get sick again. And it's not good to be on antibiotics all the time. Twelve years ago I had sinus surgery to clean out my sinuses and fix the deviated septum, and I was good for a while, but now I get sinus infections again. I may have to have it again, I don't know. I have to make an appointment with the specialist.
485536 tn?1209178017 Within a week post-op, I had the worst sinus infection of my life. After about every antibiotic on the market, it is April, and I still have it. My ENT is stunned and no one can tell me why I am always sick. Along with my sinus issues, I have many others. From age five, until eight, I had constant strep throat. I had my tonsils and adenoids removed. I have social anxiety disorder. I have been recently diagnosed with a thyroid auto-immune disease.
Avatar n tn Strep test came back negative, and I have already had mono before. Assuming it was a sinus infection, they prescribed amoxicillin, and that took care of the symptoms in under a week. About two weeks after being off of the amoxicillin, the symptoms began to return. I went back to the doctor and the prescribed some different antibiotic, which again, worked fine. Yet again, a few weeks after being done with that antibiotic, the symptoms returned.
Avatar f tn t much bloodflow to deliver the antibiotic to the infection site. Besides, sinus infection fits a different medical model, than say, an ear infection. My journal explains it. http://www.medhelp.org/user_journals/show/2322 The journal also has the Flip-Turn Sinus Flush, which removes almost any sinus infection, but it has its risks, so I won't recommend it until you have gone the full antibiotic route.
Avatar n tn s a possibility that you have a fungal infection, which is very common in seemingly incurable sinusitis, according to the Mayo Clinic. The lead doctor in the study, Dr. Jens Ponikau, patented the idea of a nasal anti-fungal spray, but he's still working on it. In the meantime, the Sinus Flush worked against a 5 year problem similar to yours, which included a fungus, and against every other sinus infection or cold i've had since, and I have a long Celtic head with godawful sinuses.
Avatar f tn mayo sinus fungus). It won't necessarily cause a blockage, often a constant irritation and allergic reaction, which may or may not show up on a scan. The principals of the Mayo study are still trying to find a way to get an anti-fungal spray that reaches into the upper sinuses, for which they have a method patent. Good luck to them, it would be a major breakthrough.
345124 tn?1234483278 are sinus rinses effective against mold in the sinuses? can mold even cause sinus inflammation and dizziness?
Avatar n tn HR from 58 to 145 all in same 24 hour period. Started in Nov and ruled out vision with eye doc, ruled out sinus infection, so then to general doc, referred to cardiologist. Ended up at Mayo Clinic in MN for 2 weeks of testing. Cardiac exams and tests all normal: included 24 hour BP monitor, 24 hr holter monitor EKG, standard EKG, both treadmill stress plus dobutamine stress test and two echocardiograms - all normal.
Avatar f tn Now, having explained everything, I would like to ask your educated opinion on what might the cause of this type of sinus infection and why I cannot be cured with the medicine I have been given? My personal hypothesis is that since my sugar levels are usually in the 180-200 mg/dl and I have an extremely big hepatic health problem, I am unable to heal. My other guesses are: 1) I may be immune to many antibiotics or I may have a virus and not an bacterial infection.

Avatar f tn Sorry but i been trying to ask a question for about a week , but never was able to ask. Hope you have time to answer my question and Sheidy sorry for posting on your thread as well. Question : Last Tuesday i had tooth # 2 removed ( Upper ) and next day i came down with a major Migraine and few days later my body started to hurt and nose got congested , i went to the Dr. who said this was a sinus infection.
Avatar m tn t worry, medical research done by the Mayo Clinic explains why it works. After clearing up my years-long chronic infection, it has worked on every acute infection since. I've had perfectly clear sinuses for the last 12 months. One other thing--my brother found out that he has a genetic immunodeficiency against the streptococcus pneumoniae microbe, of which there are many strains. His doctor said that this problem isn't rare, and gave him a new vaccine called "Pneumovax".
Avatar n tn A sinus infection is a symptom of HIV? I have a sinus infection... From what the doctors said, HIV doesn't cause sinus infections.
519035 tn?1348275773 I started with a bloody nose maybe in middle of Feburary. I felt a little congested but not bad. By the end of Feb I broke out with the worst sinus infection in my life! I was draining everywhere. Heres how it started the day before I got sick I was eating dinner and felt as tho I got something caught in my throat. I went to the doc the following day and she said ooh its something viral. The following day I had nothing but drainage from head to ears to nose.
Avatar f tn I have the worst sinus infection! Im 30 weeks and 3 days, its been with me for like a week now. Is there anything other than tylenol i can take?
Avatar f tn Your symptoms could be due to a post nasal drip, which can cause a chronic irritation in the throat. This could be due to a sinus infection, a cold or a chronic allergy. It could be sinusitis, if it is accompanied by nasal stuffiness and facial pain or pressure. Post nasal drip could also be due to allergens. These are substances like pollen, dust, animal dander, certain foods, insect venoms and certain medications.
Avatar n tn The mucous/phlegm is not coming from nasal passages when coughing.......seems to be in chest. My previous sinus infections symptoms always included nasal congestion which I am not experiencing at all. Debating a trip to dr. or popping sinus headache medicine.
Avatar m tn June 5th I came down with upper respiratory infection. A couple days later a nasty sinus infection (never had one before and this lasted a couple of weeks). During this time on June 13th I came down with a bad headache and general fogginess or mind fog (light/sound etc.) I went to my GP (who is not known for diagnosis, I live in an extreme rural area in Far Rural West Texas) and the ER after about 2 wks under his recommendation. It felt like my head was caving in.
