Avatar f tn I had a similar experience taking prednisone-becoming so depressed and fearful. This experience with singulair mimics that of the prednisone issues. As of tonight, I have stopped taking singulair and plan to follow up with my PCP this week. I have only been on it for 2-3 weeks and I have had enough of this feeling. I want my life back.
Avatar f tn My Dr has recommended I try singualr along with Allegra and flonase. He had told me the SIngulair will not make me feel funny, cause anxiety or heart palps etc...yet I see there are a lot of negative side effects. Does anyone have any experience on this medicine or just how safe it is?
460830 tn?1347219306 What was the problem with Singulair a while back? I heard something about it, but I never heard what the problem was with it.
Avatar m tn It causes asthma (Arizona Cypress, Mesquite and Palo Verde are the culprits.) Singulair has helped me very successfully in the past. However, I also take a very low dose blood pressure medication (Lisinopril 20mg). I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.
Avatar m tn i just wanted to post a warning to other parents. my son was on singulair for over 3 years. he was taking the drug for treatment of mild asthma and allergies. he suffered from undetected side effects for 3 years. the side effects were sneaky and subtle and i did not pick up on the cause. at the age of 7, his physician increased his dosage to 5mg due to his age. after that increase, his side effects became loud and clear.
Avatar m tn My allergist - immunologist has attempted to block the leukotrienes, the things that get to the skin that causes the burning sensation with Singulair 4 xs a day with Zyflo CR, I can't take the Zyflo CR, because these meds effect some peoples emotions incl. me apparently.... but taking the higher dose of Singulair has brought some relief.... I'm not a doc but I've been to many trying to get mystery burning of the skin and rashes figured out incl.
Avatar m tn Burning skin... First, spend the money on CeraVe' Soap, it's at the drug store, for your hands and the shower... Also, a 24 hour antihistamine, Allegra is the best then Zyrtec then Clariton, take any of the 3 that you can tolerate. Also, stay out of the heat, bright light bulbs, cover your self with a light shirt and pants.... a hat but you do not need to get heated like sweating....
Avatar n tn Since we discovered the loss - and got the aid - just over a year ago, his behavior and speech have improved. He also has allergy induced asthma. He takes Singulair daily and takes Pulmicort and Xopenex as needed via nebulizer when he starts to show signs of coughing. My husband and I went to his parent-teacher conference yesterday - for pre-school - and we were advised by his team (speech therapist, psychologist, etc.) that we should discuss his behavior with our pediatrician.
Avatar n tn Even Walmart has been injecting their meat with hydolyded proteins that I will itch with. So even whole food ingredients now have to be checked. I did have a sore throat for a year in high school and it was a goiter that had to be removed. About the 5th doc I saw finally recognized it. But since you also have itchy ears it is more likely, aspartame or some ingredient with glutamate in it. Hope you find out so to avoid it.
Avatar f tn I've been dealing with this the past year, and I see an allergist. She hasn't been able to determine anything. My problem started with swollen eyes. They weren't itchy, but I could feel my sinuses swell a bit along with my tear ducts swelling. I took an antihistamine, which I haven't taken in a long while. The antihistamine alone was okay, but combine it with using my contacts, and my eyes swell. I don't know if it's the saline or contact solution.
Avatar n tn After about a month he started having a problem with his legs and groin itching. He took himself off the Singulair as that is what he decided was the problem. He has gotten by with just the Advair inhaler. In the past month he's really been struggling with breathing problems.
Avatar m tn Thing is, when carrying out physical activities breath is faster, But can live with that. Good bye Singulair So be careful with singulair and use it at THE ONLY helpless situation This discussion is related to Side Effect of Singulair -- twitching.
1890554 tn?1322678048 Hi I been dealing with severe allergies and nothing seems to alleviate them. I was given a diprospan injection (Celestamine is Betamethasone, a corticosteroid used to treat allergic reactions and sometimes other conditions). about 3 weeks ago… Celestamine NS twice a dat…Omnaris spray twice a day… after all this I had a Ct Scan for my sinus and every thing way great! no fluid anywhere and I felt fine…. my ears are ringing like crazy and allergies makes it worse.
Avatar n tn Head tremors could be also a side-effect, as it is consistent with the possible side effects presented with the use of Singulaire, however, not directly listed itself as one, but rather linked to one ( seizures, dizziness, headaches, etc). It should be reported to your prescribing Doctor immediately. Please offer more details such as reasons for taking it and other symptoms. There may be better options available. Take care.
370736 tn?1247242917 Hi everyone! Does anyone else out there have asthma? This is my first pregnancy with asthma and the whole thing is putting me on edge. I just got over a bad cold and had to use inhalers etc. Even when I didn't have the cold I already felt breathless at times. I think it is part of the whole hormonal thing but just double checking to see if anyone else has had similar symptoms. Thanks.

Avatar n tn I have stopped (as of 2 days) with the Singulair with no change in food issue. He has lost 4 lbs in 4 days and he is avg size. Before a week ago he would eat veggies, fruits and meats - he enjoyed eating. He is otherwise a happy (a bit of a jokester), smart child with no other issues physically or mentally - goes to Kindergarten, plays soccer, has stable home with Mom and Dad present. Could this be a control issue? Any advice would be so appreciated.
Avatar f tn Given this recommendation, it would be wise for you to consult with either your primary care doctor or with a GI specialist, assuming you have been by one, for your hepatitis. It should be possible to find a dose of one of these drugs that will give you relief from your allergic symptoms.
Avatar n tn I see many folks are experiencing side effects from Singulair. So am I ... I think. I was taking Singulair for just 5 days for and upper respiratory cold and began having tingling and numbness in my extremities. I stopped immediately. My question is, after eliminating all other possible causes (through a number of tests including MRIs, blood work, metals testing) with my doctor, I still have numbness, tingling and burning taking place in my legs and arms for 3 months now.
Avatar n tn Has he actually been tested for food allergies, so you know what to stay away from? Do you have him on any kind of antihistamine? Since his episodes come and go he should also be tested for weed, tree, and grass pollens. It wouldn't hurt to have him see a dermatologist to rule out any other underlying skin problem.
Avatar n tn ve had chronic urticaria for 3 years now, pretty much every day, sometimes worse than others. Taking Xyzal, Singulair, Doxepin and supplementing with Benadryl when necessary. I took Prednisone for over a year and have sworn off that stuff. I have had allergy testing twice and the same results as you, mold, some trees and weeds. Been to 5 different docs who have all been baffled. I've even had endoscopy to check for some sort of stomach issue.
Avatar f tn is there another medicine similar to singulair that doesn't have the bad side effects
Avatar m tn My son started taking Singulair in Oct.2012, and then he started complaining about his leg, some kind of weird sensation. He called itchy feeling, but it was something he could not scratch away, something underneath the skin. He kept asking me to punch his leg with a 5-pound dumbbell. He wakes up twice or three times per night. He puts some hard things under his leg, and put press on it. He does it almost every night. He can't get enough sleep.
