Avatar n tn I have a 4 1/2 year old son who has been displaying aggressive behavior at school - rarely does he do it at home. A little background on him...he has a neuro-sensory hearing loss in his left ear, and wears an aid. Since we discovered the loss - and got the aid - just over a year ago, his behavior and speech have improved. He also has allergy induced asthma. He takes Singulair daily and takes Pulmicort and Xopenex as needed via nebulizer when he starts to show signs of coughing.
Avatar m tn If that is Singulair you are asking about, I see no info suggesting that as a side effect. If you are taking thyroid med, I suspect that the effects of hypothyroidism or related low ferritin are the most likely causes for hair loss. If you will please tell us about any other symptoms you have, and also post your thyroid related test results and reference ranges shown on the lab report, we will be better able to assess your situation.
460830 tn?1347219306 What was the problem with Singulair a while back? I heard something about it, but I never heard what the problem was with it.
Avatar m tn i just wanted to post a warning to other parents. my son was on singulair for over 3 years. he was taking the drug for treatment of mild asthma and allergies. he suffered from undetected side effects for 3 years. the side effects were sneaky and subtle and i did not pick up on the cause. at the age of 7, his physician increased his dosage to 5mg due to his age. after that increase, his side effects became loud and clear.
Avatar f tn My Dr has recommended I try singualr along with Allegra and flonase. He had told me the SIngulair will not make me feel funny, cause anxiety or heart palps etc...yet I see there are a lot of negative side effects. Does anyone have any experience on this medicine or just how safe it is?
Avatar m tn It causes asthma (Arizona Cypress, Mesquite and Palo Verde are the culprits.) Singulair has helped me very successfully in the past. However, I also take a very low dose blood pressure medication (Lisinopril 20mg). I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.
920032 tn?1550680156 lately my overnight breathing is causing me problems. i asked my gp for singulair but she prescribed atrovent. it does get mucus up but i am waking to cough it up. i have excersize induced asthma. it was on this site that i heard about singulair.
1154802 tn?1266485720 I do not think alot of doctors keep patients on this-your steroid inhaler and maybe using Singulair should help.. I would ask about Singulair. You also need to see an actual asthma doctor (pulmonary doctor) if you're not already.

Avatar f tn heat intolerance, (excessive sweating, dizziness, heart palpatations), exercise intolerance (i swell up like a balloon even from walking and experience heart palpatations), fatigue, gastric reflux, bloating, weight gain, muscle weakness and loss. Have had nearly every test imaginable done re: hormones, viruses, electrolyte or vitamin imbalances--nothing.
Avatar n tn 2 years ago he was put on Advair disk inhaler, Singulair, and Allegra D as his regimen. After about a month he started having a problem with his legs and groin itching. He took himself off the Singulair as that is what he decided was the problem. He has gotten by with just the Advair inhaler. In the past month he's really been struggling with breathing problems.

370736 tn?1247242917 I have asthma and use inhaler (long acting and short acting) and Singulair. My pulmonary doc and OB said they're fine to use in pregnancy. I have been using my inhaler a lot more during pregnancy and I'm pretty sure it's because we are now breathing for 2 and our blood flow (which carries oxygen) is going for 2.
Avatar n tn I have been taking singulair for a couple of years now and have all of a sudden developed a head tremor.

377493 tn?1356502149 I took Ryder to the Pediatrician today to have him checked for mild weight loss and a non stop runny nose. She believes he has allergies. He is seeing an allergist on the 22nd, but in the meantime she prescribed him singular (here in Canada it is by prescription only). She thinks the allergies are causing the constant runny nose, and that is what is making it harder for him to eat, thus the weight loss. Makes sense..we have suspected mild allergies for a while now.
Avatar m tn Delayed recognition may also occur when atypical symptoms such as headache, weight loss, periodic paralysis, or nausea and vomiting dominate the clinical picture. Elderly patients may present with apathetic thyrotoxicosis typified by weight loss and the absence of sympathomimetic symptoms and signs.
Avatar m tn I was given Advair and Singulair for an allergy problem that was causing asthma symptoms. I had used Advair in the past with no side effects. I lost my sense of smell and taste almost immediately. I could only taste sweet and salty, and could not smell at all. I stopped taking both of the new drugs and got on the internet to find answers. When I saw that others had lost smell and taste with Advair I contacted my doctor and pharmacist.
Avatar n tn I see many folks are experiencing side effects from Singulair. So am I ... I think. I was taking Singulair for just 5 days for and upper respiratory cold and began having tingling and numbness in my extremities. I stopped immediately. My question is, after eliminating all other possible causes (through a number of tests including MRIs, blood work, metals testing) with my doctor, I still have numbness, tingling and burning taking place in my legs and arms for 3 months now.
Avatar m tn My son started taking Singulair in Oct.2012, and then he started complaining about his leg, some kind of weird sensation. He called itchy feeling, but it was something he could not scratch away, something underneath the skin. He kept asking me to punch his leg with a 5-pound dumbbell. He wakes up twice or three times per night. He puts some hard things under his leg, and put press on it. He does it almost every night. He can't get enough sleep.
Avatar f tn I have alot to say about Singulair but none of it is good, unfortunately. My son was on Singulair for 3 yrs. I finally recognized the side effects he was having and discontinued. He suffered from leg pain, stomach pain, irritability, anxiety, quick to tears, easily frustrated and excessively fearful. At the age of 7, his dosage was increased to 5mg. At that point, it became very clear he was suffering side effects. All of the side effects I mentioned above were multipled x 10.
