Singulair tics

Common Questions and Answers about Singulair tics

singulair

Avatar f tn I think you posted a long time ago about your son and Singulair. My six year old took Singulair for 2 weeks and develped facial tics, twitches and other odd things. He's now been off for 10 days and we are still seeing it. Neuro appt. this week- so worried. Is your son okay now?
Avatar n tn Turns out he is allergic to almost everything. When we started him on Singulair, his sniffing and throat clearing tics went awayfairly quickly. However, they pop up once in awhile; espceially if you talk about it w/him. THat just makes him rethink about those tics and then he starts sniffing and throat clearing again. Tics are tricky like that. Good luck.
1491064 tn?1288394052 my son is five years old and he has asthma, he is on Flovent and Prednisolone for his lungs,(his doctor just took him off singulair) but last year he got pretty sick and his doctor had him on Azithromycin, nasonex,Allegra,Albuterol sulfate,Singulair,Flovent, and Prednisolone. three days into taking all the medications and he started to studder and really bad. i mentioned it to his doctor and she said that studdering is common for boys his age, and to this day he is studdering and very badly.
Avatar f tn We also have a lof allergies, which caused many of his sniffing tics, so we also take singulair to reduce those tickles which lead to sniffing and clearing of the throat. I wish you luck and would be happy to talk to you more. This is tough. I keep praying to myself at night that these lessons my son is learning now will just make him a stronger less vulnerable person in highschool.......SIGH. We'll see. We are only in 4th grade now.
460830 tn?1347219306 What was the problem with Singulair a while back? I heard something about it, but I never heard what the problem was with it.
Avatar m tn i just wanted to post a warning to other parents. my son was on singulair for over 3 years. he was taking the drug for treatment of mild asthma and allergies. he suffered from undetected side effects for 3 years. the side effects were sneaky and subtle and i did not pick up on the cause. at the age of 7, his physician increased his dosage to 5mg due to his age. after that increase, his side effects became loud and clear.
Avatar f tn My Dr has recommended I try singualr along with Allegra and flonase. He had told me the SIngulair will not make me feel funny, cause anxiety or heart palps etc...yet I see there are a lot of negative side effects. Does anyone have any experience on this medicine or just how safe it is?
Avatar m tn It causes asthma (Arizona Cypress, Mesquite and Palo Verde are the culprits.) Singulair has helped me very successfully in the past. However, I also take a very low dose blood pressure medication (Lisinopril 20mg). I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.
920032 tn?1550680156 lately my overnight breathing is causing me problems. i asked my gp for singulair but she prescribed atrovent. it does get mucus up but i am waking to cough it up. i have excersize induced asthma. it was on this site that i heard about singulair.
Avatar n tn 2 years ago he was put on Advair disk inhaler, Singulair, and Allegra D as his regimen. After about a month he started having a problem with his legs and groin itching. He took himself off the Singulair as that is what he decided was the problem. He has gotten by with just the Advair inhaler. In the past month he's really been struggling with breathing problems.
Avatar m tn Hello, Childhood tics are not uncommon. The majority of children simply outgrow them. There are prescription medications that can help reduce the frequency and severity of tics, but they generally come with negative side effects. Most patients with tics or Tourette's do not require medication and simply learn to cope with their tics. The vast majority of Tourette's cases are in children and adolescents, and rarely does it continue into adulthood.
969557 tn?1314370614 After 1 year I quit because I developed tics in my neck wich became very painful and the doctors thought it was a sideeffect. It has never stopped since. I was using Orap for a while, which worked, but I became very tired of it and was sleeping all the time. Stopped using it when I got diagnosed with hep c, not to cause damage at my liver. Now I get 4 injections of Botox in my nech every three months, but are a bit worried about eventually loosing the strength in my neck.
Avatar n tn They can be simple motor tics, such as blinking of the eyes or shrugging of the shoulders, or they can be complex motor tics, resembling a purposeful movement. Tics can also be vocal, such as grunting or verbalizing. Tics can occur in isolation or they may occur as part of Tourette's syndrome. In order for Tourette's to be diagnosed, there must be both motor and vocal tics that occur for over 1 year and start before the age of 18, and are not attributable to other causes.

370736 tn?1247242917 I have asthma and use inhaler (long acting and short acting) and Singulair. My pulmonary doc and OB said they're fine to use in pregnancy. I have been using my inhaler a lot more during pregnancy and I'm pretty sure it's because we are now breathing for 2 and our blood flow (which carries oxygen) is going for 2.
Avatar n tn I also have three children, the oldest and youngest affected by tics, and the middle (son) not. My oldest was put on Ritalin for elementary school. He had tics, and they stopped when he was taken off Ritalin. My youngest son never was put on any medication, he has tics that come and go. My middle child (a son) has no tics, and no ADHD. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn I have been taking singulair for a couple of years now and have all of a sudden developed a head tremor.
Avatar f tn is there another medicine similar to singulair that doesn't have the bad side effects
Avatar f tn Most kids are diagnosed between 3rd and 4th grade, but they would have to have both vocal tics and motor tics for at least one year prior. My kids are now 14 yrs, 10 yrs, 7yrs, and 19 months old. All three older girls have been diagnosed. My third daughter was diagnosed at 3 1/2 yrs old, my oldest at 8 yrs old, and my middle daughter at 9 yrs old. My son has not been diagnosed yet. He doesn't seem to have motor tics yet, but it sounds like he has had a few vocal tics already.
Avatar n tn My 3 yr old son is currently being put through a whole set of tests to rule out seizures, vision problems, etc. He has developed rapid eye blinking which is increasing in episodes. We also noticed during some of these episodes that he rolls his top lip under or seems to be biting it. His pediatrician suspects he has developed "Tics" but a confirmed diagnosis has not been given.
Avatar f tn My son is 8 years old now and we noticed his tics when he was about 6. Initially, his tics included opening his mouth wide, rolling and bobbing his head, stretching his neck and moving his wrists. Eventually, he started hopping a bit, extending his arms and having vocal tics. When he was 7, I noticed that his tics were significantly reduced five days into a trip to the Caribbean. The following summer which happened to be very sunny, it seemed that again the severity of his tics was reduced.
Avatar n tn However, within the past year she has started displaying frequent motor tics and recently vocal tics. Her motor tics started with blinking/rolling her eyes. They have progressed to neck shrugs and hand twists. Lately, she makes a "un" gutteral sound. The vocal tics are occuring as often as 1-2 times a minute. Is there any connection between her early seizures and tics?
Avatar n tn My daughter (12 years old) has been diagnosed with TS since 5 years of age. Her tics usually last about 3 to 4 months before changing to a different tic. Some we have seen come back and some she has only had once. Example, eye blinking was her first tic at age 5. It came back at age 8 and has not come back since (not to say it won't). She just recently went through a very ruff tic where she would thrust her head out at an odd angle.
Avatar n tn Are there any other problems in addition to the ADHD and tic disorder? Does he display any voacl tics in addition to the motor tics? You'll want to rule out Tourette's Disorder. Since you are close to Chicago, it would be worthwhile to have him undergo a thorough evaluation in both neurology and child psychiatry at Comer Children's Hospital at the University of Chicago. You will not likely find much, if any, benefit from alterations of his diet.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with ocd ever since I was a child. 6 years ago I found out I have Tourette's syndrome. I've seen a couple of good doctors but refuse to take any medication. My tics are being worse both vocal and motor tics and my Obssesvie thoughts won't stop. i can hear voice in my head saying and wishing that someone I love will get hurt, and then just to prevent this from happening I do the weirdest tics vocally and phiscially.
Avatar f tn s about 7months that I developed cervical tics (tics in my neck) - it occurs once per 2-3 minutes and I hearI hear a crackling sound simultaneously.I don't know whether it's a complication of MS or interferon?- does any body else have the same problem?is there any cure for such tics?
Avatar m tn Yes, one tic may disappear only to be followed by another. Be alert for any vocal tics - it is possible, but by no means probable, that the tics are signalling the onset of Tourette's Disorder (multiple motor tcs and at least one vocal tic).
