Avatar m tn he suffered from undetected side effects for 3 years. the side effects were sneaky and subtle and i did not pick up on the cause. at the age of 7, his physician increased his dosage to 5mg due to his age. after that increase, his side effects became loud and clear. in general he suffered from nightmares, leg pain, irritability, fear, out-of-nowhere vomiting, sadness, anxiety, self-doubt, impulsiveness, dificulty focusing / concentrating and restlessness.
Avatar n tn This stuff works better than Mercks ( montelukast sodium ) except it has no side effects and its quicker and cheaper. Then kiss your and your sons Asthma goodby. No more coughing at any time in the for eather of you. bill103 ....
Avatar n tn Head tremors could be also a side-effect, as it is consistent with the possible side effects presented with the use of Singulaire, however, not directly listed itself as one, but rather linked to one ( seizures, dizziness, headaches, etc). It should be reported to your prescribing Doctor immediately. Please offer more details such as reasons for taking it and other symptoms. There may be better options available. Take care.
Avatar m tn And now two days later he has a full blown cold and I am doing albuterol around the clock. I hate all the meds and reading about the side effects makes me feel sick. I just don't see any way around them. I talked to his teacher about adjusting the temp on the air, but it feels like a losing battle. I don't want to have to pull him out of school, but there is no way I can put him in an environment that will make him sick.
Avatar f tn He had told me the SIngulair will not make me feel funny, cause anxiety or heart palps etc...yet I see there are a lot of negative side effects. Does anyone have any experience on this medicine or just how safe it is?
Avatar f tn She now has a feeling of pins and needles and numbness in her hands and feet, calves and thighs and her feet feel very cold. UNDER SINGULAIR SIDE EFFECTS THAT YOU MUST TELL YOUR DOCTOR ABOUT RIGHT AWAY IT SAYS: A FEELING OF PINS AND NEEDLES OR NUMBNESS IN ARMS OR LEGS!!! She called her doctor, told him this was happening and he said "OK". That was it, nothing more!!!
460830 tn?1347219306 THANKS! GLAD MY SON JUST GAVE HIS TO ME...HE ALREADY HAS PROBLEMS WITH DEPRESSION; I'VE TAKEN IT BEFORE, WITH NO APPARENT SIDE EFFECTS. I HAVE A MITRAL VALVE PROLAPSE, AND HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, SO I DO HAVE TO BE CAREFUL WHAT I TAKE.
1154802 tn?1266485720 I have been prescribed prednisone to help keep my asthma under control twice in the past three months. I've noticed there are a lot of bad side effects (as there is with any drug I suppose) and I know most of them are from long-term use and ten days isn't really long term use, but they still worry me! I'm on a preventer (symbicort), two puffs morning and night. But I still find I'm using my Ventolin at least 5 times a day (bad, I know!!
Avatar n tn I have looked up the side effects of both Singulair and Advair. It seems that both can cause skin issues. I just know that he's been using the Advair all along with no problems but once he started the Singulair the itching returned. Now I will have to say that the past two days have been better. Maybe his body needed to adjust? Dunno.
Avatar f tn I was having the same side effects, switched to dulera and have very few side effects, only stomach acid which is treatable. Glad you're feeling better.
Avatar n tn I see many folks are experiencing side effects from Singulair. So am I ... I think. I was taking Singulair for just 5 days for and upper respiratory cold and began having tingling and numbness in my extremities. I stopped immediately. My question is, after eliminating all other possible causes (through a number of tests including MRIs, blood work, metals testing) with my doctor, I still have numbness, tingling and burning taking place in my legs and arms for 3 months now.
Avatar f tn At that point, it became very clear he was suffering side effects. All of the side effects I mentioned above were multipled x 10. He also began to have hallucinations, facial tics and night terrors. He awoke one morning and his pupils were nearly completely dialated. That got my attention fast and I started researching Singulair. He never took another Singulair after that day. It took approximately 3 weeks for my son's side effects to completely disappear.
Avatar f tn Treating him for acid reflux, allergies, asthma, pulmonary dysfunction, and I haven't heard of giving a 5 year old HgH before though I'm sure there's a good reason. It sounds like there's a lot going on for him, what's his condition? My money is on the HgH for the enlarged heart, though I'm just guessing. An enlarged heart is a side effect of the HgH. An enlarged heart will remodel itself, often causing arrhythmias (ex, PVCs and brady).
Avatar f tn is there another medicine similar to singulair that doesn't have the bad side effects
Avatar f tn The most common side effects include: stomach pain, heartburn, stuffy nose, flu, dizziness, headache or rash. (ref:http://www.singulair.com/montelukast_sodium/singulair/consumer/allergies/for_parents/product_information/ppi/what_is_singulair.jsp) Your rash may be a side effect of the medications you are taking. Did the rash appear after being prescribed with these drugs?
Avatar f tn I have taken prednisone many other times, with no adverse side effects. I went to the doctor yesterday with the following symptomps; even though I knew that I was getting enough air, I felt that I could not get a good breath and my throat felt very tight and jaw just clenched open while I was gasping for breath. I also felt very anxious. I never experienced this before. Boy it was scary.
587778 tn?1261397118 I also had a serious reaction to steroids (the side effects almost killed me). So now I use natural anti-inflammatories. She could try 500 mg of viitamin C, 2 droppersful of mullein extract, 500 mg of vitamin B5, and NAC (n-acetyl-cisteine.). Sometimes I add a small quantity (about 1/2 tsp.) of MSM. There are no side effects. The most helpful of all for me is the B5. I also find that this regimen is more effective than the steroid poison. Be grateful she doesn't take it.
Avatar m tn Depression is a side effect of singulair. Sounds like you are really suffering with it. Call your doctor ASAP to make adjustments in your treatment. I have never heard of twitching with Singulair, but it is a side effect of other asthma meds. Be sure to let your doctor know that you have stopped taking Singulair this week and watch for signs of uncontrolled asthma - increased use of inhaler, coughing, sighing... There are a lot of subtle signs that people miss.
Avatar f tn Also, remember any medication you take will have a list of side effects a mile long. If you search the side effects of any pill on the internet of course it will scare the you know what out of you. For example, if I looked up the potential side effects of the Motrin I took yesterday, I would probably never take it again. Of course there are risks to anything we put into our body, but your doctor compares the risks vs. benefits of the drug when prescribing it to you.
Avatar n tn I went from being depressed to feeling like a zombie and had to get of the medication. Prozac can cause many bad side effects in children. Please insist this child at least see another doctor to get a second opinion.
Avatar m tn I've heard of side effects and problems with certain patients, but can't remember where I saw it. Every person reacts differently to certain treatments, so you just have to be careful. Make sure you really trust who is doing the treatment on your child.

Avatar n tn it seems like advair is making alot of peoples asthma worse and singulair has a whole list of crazy side effects like people acting aggresive, suicide, cant sleep, nightmares, depression. someone please tell me that there are some drugs to help asthma without all these side affects.
Avatar f tn It was then that I researched the side effects of my prescribed drugs and determined that I should stop taking the Singulair. My doctor prescribed a replacement for Singulair, and within a month the numbness went away. Over the past few months I have tried to get back into running. I used to run frequently, always training for a 5k, 10k, or half-marathon, so not sprinting. I have never had a problem with my heart rate or my blood pressure, but now I do.
Avatar n tn The gastrointestinal side effects reported with singulair are diarrhea, dyspepsia, nausea, and vomiting. Besides it can cause liver injury and an increase in liver enzyme levels, this is more so in patients who have a preexisting liver disorder and in those who consume alcohol. But these effects should revert with stoppage of the medication. For a follow up on this you can have your liver function tests done. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance.
