Common Questions and Answers about Singulair side effects in babies

singulair

Avatar m tn he suffered from undetected side effects for 3 years. the side effects were sneaky and subtle and i did not pick up on the cause. at the age of 7, his physician increased his dosage to 5mg due to his age. after that increase, his side effects became loud and clear. in general he suffered from nightmares, leg pain, irritability, fear, out-of-nowhere vomiting, sadness, anxiety, self-doubt, impulsiveness, dificulty focusing / concentrating and restlessness.
Avatar f tn He had told me the SIngulair will not make me feel funny, cause anxiety or heart palps etc...yet I see there are a lot of negative side effects. Does anyone have any experience on this medicine or just how safe it is?
Avatar f tn She now has a feeling of pins and needles and numbness in her hands and feet, calves and thighs and her feet feel very cold. UNDER SINGULAIR SIDE EFFECTS THAT YOU MUST TELL YOUR DOCTOR ABOUT RIGHT AWAY IT SAYS: A FEELING OF PINS AND NEEDLES OR NUMBNESS IN ARMS OR LEGS!!! She called her doctor, told him this was happening and he said "OK". That was it, nothing more!!!
Avatar f tn Now these same side effects come in waves. Chest tightness stopped for several days as did insomnia. Now having anxiety and fearful thoughts. It was I Sonia last week. How long do these kind of side effects last and would taking an over the counter antihistimines help? I see a new allergist in 10 days. I am not having caffeine or alcohol. I am eating clean and limiting sugar. Help please!!
Avatar n tn I have looked up the side effects of both Singulair and Advair. It seems that both can cause skin issues. I just know that he's been using the Advair all along with no problems but once he started the Singulair the itching returned. Now I will have to say that the past two days have been better. Maybe his body needed to adjust? Dunno.
Avatar f tn I was having the same side effects, switched to dulera and have very few side effects, only stomach acid which is treatable. Glad you're feeling better.
Avatar n tn I see many folks are experiencing side effects from Singulair. So am I ... I think. I was taking Singulair for just 5 days for and upper respiratory cold and began having tingling and numbness in my extremities. I stopped immediately. My question is, after eliminating all other possible causes (through a number of tests including MRIs, blood work, metals testing) with my doctor, I still have numbness, tingling and burning taking place in my legs and arms for 3 months now.
Avatar f tn com and askapatient.com. Singulair is linked to suicide in teens. For some people, it has horrible side effects such as my son experienced. Good luck to you and your family.
Avatar m tn my son suffered side effects from singulair which is used for allergies. the side effects can be severe. if he is on singulair, pleae visit medications.com and parentsforsafety.org for more information.
Avatar f tn is there another medicine similar to singulair that doesn't have the bad side effects
Avatar f tn I have taken prednisone many other times, with no adverse side effects. I went to the doctor yesterday with the following symptomps; even though I knew that I was getting enough air, I felt that I could not get a good breath and my throat felt very tight and jaw just clenched open while I was gasping for breath. I also felt very anxious. I never experienced this before. Boy it was scary.
Avatar m tn Call your doctor ASAP to make adjustments in your treatment. I have never heard of twitching with Singulair, but it is a side effect of other asthma meds. Be sure to let your doctor know that you have stopped taking Singulair this week and watch for signs of uncontrolled asthma - increased use of inhaler, coughing, sighing... There are a lot of subtle signs that people miss. You do need to be off the med, but be careful. Take care and I am glad you are feeling better.
Avatar f tn Also, remember any medication you take will have a list of side effects a mile long. If you search the side effects of any pill on the internet of course it will scare the you know what out of you. For example, if I looked up the potential side effects of the Motrin I took yesterday, I would probably never take it again. Of course there are risks to anything we put into our body, but your doctor compares the risks vs. benefits of the drug when prescribing it to you.
1154802 tn?1266485720 I have been prescribed prednisone to help keep my asthma under control twice in the past three months. I've noticed there are a lot of bad side effects (as there is with any drug I suppose) and I know most of them are from long-term use and ten days isn't really long term use, but they still worry me! I'm on a preventer (symbicort), two puffs morning and night. But I still find I'm using my Ventolin at least 5 times a day (bad, I know!!
Avatar n tn i tried quite a few but they make my vision blurred and pain in the back of my head......the doc has prescribed me singulair but ive read about the sideeffects,i am already on antidepressants.......
Avatar f tn It was then that I researched the side effects of my prescribed drugs and determined that I should stop taking the Singulair. My doctor prescribed a replacement for Singulair, and within a month the numbness went away. Over the past few months I have tried to get back into running. I used to run frequently, always training for a 5k, 10k, or half-marathon, so not sprinting. I have never had a problem with my heart rate or my blood pressure, but now I do.
Avatar n tn Did you look up side effects of your medication, as well asside effects if you are mixing certin ones, I suffer from an angziety disorder and here are certint hings I cannot eat and drink with my meds as well as other meds that cause complications with it. It's worth doing your reasurch, ever drug has their own offical website where you can get this information from but do soem side reasurch too because veryone reacts differently, good luck.
Avatar f tn Side effects and allergies to drugs would be very different. Side effects could improve over time or with improved inhaler techniques. Allergies would stop you from using the medication completely. Allergies to medications should be limitated to certain drugs or ones that work very similarly. There should be other inhaled steroids (same use as budesonide) that you should be able to safely use. Another possibility is singulair if the asthma is allergy based.
Avatar m tn And now two days later he has a full blown cold and I am doing albuterol around the clock. I hate all the meds and reading about the side effects makes me feel sick. I just don't see any way around them. I talked to his teacher about adjusting the temp on the air, but it feels like a losing battle. I don't want to have to pull him out of school, but there is no way I can put him in an environment that will make him sick.
Avatar f tn I know for a fact that Singulair can cause ear ache and chest infection as well as other annoying side effects because I have had them, I got off of the medication because I didn't see improvement, my friend stayed on it and loves what it does for her. My mother in law is on it and loves it. Oh I should also mention that it also takes about 1-2 months for some long term asthma medication to take full effect so don't take it for 2 weeks and say it isn't working, give it a chance!
312330 tn?1245176752 Are any of you taking theophylline for your asthma? If so, have you had a lot of side effects from it? My doc is considering trying this, just looking for people's experience.
Avatar n tn Singulair can cause severely aggressive behavior. Please visit www.parentsforsafety.
Avatar m tn So sorry to hear that. Is he being seen by a pulmonary specialist? Is he taking any sort of preventative medications apart from ventoIin? He obviously needs to have his asthma controlled. I do know that they don't like to over medicate children on steroid puffers. But I do believe they are allowed up to 400ug/day safely before any side effects become apparent, such as slowed growth. Does he have a lot of air born allergies?
