Common Questions and Answers about Singulair rhinitis

singulair

Avatar f tn t have an appointmet with my doctor for two weeks. I had been taking singulair and zyrtec but I stopped until I can clear it with my doctor. Are these medicines safe and if not is there a safe one out there?
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum, the loss of taste and smell is commonly encountered with allergic rhinitis, nonallergic rhinitis, rhinosinusitis, and nasal polyposis with certain drugs or zinc deficiency. It requires relief of the obstruction and treatment of the accompanying infection, if present. You need to undergo the test for Flavor discrimination test and Somatosensory testing to know the extent of involvement.
Avatar f tn Family history: My sister & dad have rhinitis. My mom has chronic cough and her PCP said it’s allergic (don't have detail check-up). I had strong allergic reaction to Erythromycin (whole body & face swollen & covered by hives/rash) when I was a kid Since 2010, I started feeling congested at night (bedtime & early morning) and okay in daytime. Occasionally took Claritin because of tickle in throat but nothing serious. Normal daily life & sleeping is fine.
Avatar m tn what can i do to make this better ,it is making me weak at times where i cant seem to function right., ive been taking singulair for allergies but nothing works ...
Avatar m tn If nothing natural works or otc meds, you may want to ask your Dr about Singulair or using a steroid nasal spray for awhile .. there are some that are more mild than others and approved for use in kids .. so maybe something like that is a thought. Keep us posted -- so sorry this is going on. You think weeds maybe?
Avatar m tn I am using the same thing and I am using one respule per bottle and rinsing twice a day. I'm also on singulair, zyrtec, patanase, and a steroid nose inhaler. I wonder if I used more of the pulmicort if I could cut down on some of the other meds?? Is anyone else taking all of these meds??
Avatar n tn The pulsing pupils could be linked to the advair dosage.Does he have asthma also?Does he suffer from allergic rhinitis? Are there any recurrent episodes of flu?Consult your physician for appropriate modulation of drug dosage including advair .
Avatar n tn The ER doctor looked in my nose and said that it was incredibly swollen and my turbinates were almost touching each other. He said that it could be allergic rhinitis AND non allergic rhinitis from a vasomotor response. I told the doctor that when I come inside from cold weather my nose will feel warm, swollen and red. The doctor said that can be a vasomotor response from the change of weather and/or allergies. It also happens at night when I am lying in bed.
Avatar f tn I currently take Xyzal and Nasacort for allergies and medication for asthma (Singulair and Symbicort). I'm also taking allergy shots for cat dander and grass pollens. When I go running by wooded areas I get a horrible runny nose. My runny nose goes away about 10-15 minutes after I get inside from my run. I'm wondering if it could be from allergies or if it could be from something else. Thanks.
Avatar f tn It is possible your husband has a non-allergic inflammation of the upper airways called vasomotor rhinitis. This can cause drainage and can be quite annoying to some. This gets worse with different temperatures, certain foods, increased activity or generally anything that increases blood flow to the area. One therapy that sometimes works for this condition is a nasal inhaled steroid which temporarily decreases the inflammation, but does not cure anything.
Avatar f tn I had asthma as a child and the doctor has put me on two inhalers, a corticosteroid and albuterol, and Singulair. It hasn't helped. Now, to add to the coughing spasms, I have begun burping with them. I never burp anything up, there is no sore throat or burning, and their is no productivity to my cough. Sometimes I feel like there is "something down there" but nothing comes up. I had a CT of my chest a couple of days ago and am waiting to hear the results.
460830 tn?1347219306 What was the problem with Singulair a while back? I heard something about it, but I never heard what the problem was with it.
Avatar m tn i just wanted to post a warning to other parents. my son was on singulair for over 3 years. he was taking the drug for treatment of mild asthma and allergies. he suffered from undetected side effects for 3 years. the side effects were sneaky and subtle and i did not pick up on the cause. at the age of 7, his physician increased his dosage to 5mg due to his age. after that increase, his side effects became loud and clear.
Avatar f tn My Dr has recommended I try singualr along with Allegra and flonase. He had told me the SIngulair will not make me feel funny, cause anxiety or heart palps etc...yet I see there are a lot of negative side effects. Does anyone have any experience on this medicine or just how safe it is?
Avatar m tn It causes asthma (Arizona Cypress, Mesquite and Palo Verde are the culprits.) Singulair has helped me very successfully in the past. However, I also take a very low dose blood pressure medication (Lisinopril 20mg). I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.
920032 tn?1550680156 lately my overnight breathing is causing me problems. i asked my gp for singulair but she prescribed atrovent. it does get mucus up but i am waking to cough it up. i have excersize induced asthma. it was on this site that i heard about singulair.
Avatar f tn Other causes of nocturnal cough should be investigated including, but not limited to, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), chronic rhinitis and sinusitis and cystic fibrosis (CF). He may need to be seen by a pediatric pulmonologist.
Avatar f tn I am considering stopping treatment due to no change. I am on Advair 5000, Singulair 10mg, Spiriva, Claritin, Albuterol (both by nebulizer and fast inhaler) prednisone every month, for the last 2 years and I don't feel any better. Coughing is my main symptom, in which I will hyperventilate to the point of passing out (almost).
1890554 tn?1322678048 Granted, Singulair (a leukotriene receptor antagonist) is often effective in the treatment of both asthma and allergic, seasonal or perennial rhinitis, it is not an antihistamine and the addition of a drug in this category might provide relief of at least some of your symptoms. Check with your doctor on this before adding such a drug to your regimen.
Avatar f tn I started taking my *Nasonex*, *Fexofenadine*(generic *Allegra*), and *Singulair* a couple of wks ago, again. I too was beginning to get all of my symptoms back: (i.e. itchy eyes, skin, scalp, palms, rashes, hives, headaches, nausea, dizziness, sore throat, dry throat, unquenching thirst, cramps, diarrhea, dry sinus and possible sinusitus. I am supposed start up on my allergy shots, again, but I was advised that I need to start all over again since I stopped going in in Dec/08.
Avatar m tn My girlfriend suffers from chronic asthma, which has resulted in nearly annual hospital stays. She found a specialist that seemed to have a temporary solution- daily Advair and Singulair medication (high dose) and Prednisone treatments every few months during recurring problems.
Avatar n tn 2 years ago he was put on Advair disk inhaler, Singulair, and Allegra D as his regimen. After about a month he started having a problem with his legs and groin itching. He took himself off the Singulair as that is what he decided was the problem. He has gotten by with just the Advair inhaler. In the past month he's really been struggling with breathing problems.
Avatar m tn s Triad, however I do not have any history of aspirin or NSAID sensitivity. My ENT says I have vasomotor rhinitis. I irrigate with pulmacort respules and take singulair, 2 different steroid inhalers (one through the nose), and 2400 mg. a day of mucinex. I even did a 2 month trial of methotrexate (low dose chemotherapy). Nothing works. I am having problems only on the right side. My last CT scan was clear, after 42 days of prednisone and 2 rounds of Levaquin.
Avatar f tn I have chronic allergic rhinitis. I have approx 30+ allergies and asthma. I take allegra, advair, flonase and singulair daily. In recent months I have started getting dry chunks of weird stuff coming from the base of my sinuses, I think. It usually happens when I clear my throat or brush my teeth. It is semi soft, grainy when squished, yellow and about the size of a large pea or even larger. Should I be concerned? I work at an envelope manufacturing plant with lots of paper dust.
Avatar n tn ve never read anything that linked seasonal symptoms to non-allergic rhinitis. So my question is, can things that would normally cause allergic-rhinitis like pollen, dust, and mold also cause non-allergic rhinitis?
