i just wanted to post a warning to other parents. my son was on singulair for over 3 years. he was taking the drug for treatment of mild asthma and allergies. he suffered from undetected side effects for 3 years. the side effects were sneaky and subtle and i did not pick up on the cause. at the age of 7, his physician increased his dosage to 5mg due to his age. after that increase, his side effects became loud and clear.
My Dr has recommended I try singualr along with Allegra and flonase. He had told me the SIngulair will not make me feel funny, cause anxiety or heart palps etc...yet I see there are a lot of negative side effects. Does anyone have any experience on this medicine or just how safe it is?
It causes asthma (Arizona Cypress, Mesquite and Palo Verde are the culprits.) Singulair has helped me very successfully in the past. However, I also take a very low dose blood pressure medication (Lisinopril 20mg). I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.
My inhaler ran out about a month ago (and was expired anyway). I ran out of my Singulair and was too busy to refill my prescription for a couple of weeks. I finally refilled the Singulair 3 days ago, and the next day (after showing numerous homes) I felt like I was having a full-blown asthma attack. I could not get a deep breath, and realized I was beginning to hyperventilate. I called my doctor after hours and he called in a new prescription for an inhaler.

You've attached to an old thread and I'm not sure the original poster will see your comment, but it's nice to know there might be pharmacies out there that would have the medication at lower prices. The problem may be that some prescriptions have to be filled within the state in which they're written. I'm not sure how that might work. It would sure be worth checking into. Thank you very much.
2 years ago he was put on Advair disk inhaler, Singulair, and Allegra D as his regimen. After about a month he started having a problem with his legs and groin itching. He took himself off the Singulair as that is what he decided was the problem. He has gotten by with just the Advair inhaler. In the past month he's really been struggling with breathing problems.

hav been taking singulair for 3 years. Cramps in fingers, throat and leg occured common. Shoulders drooped. Standing and sitting posture gone really bad. Extreme tiredness 24X7. Always thirsty even after gulping bottles of water. Inactive physically and mentally. Become even more inferior in social gatherings and activities. Can't even meet minimum commitments and thus affects career and personal, family relationships.
After dropping Everything became normal after 8 - 10 days.
