Singulair onset of action

Common Questions and Answers about Singulair onset of action

singulair

Avatar f tn In addition, if I understand your time-line of this illness, the chest X-ray was taken about a month after the onset of symptoms, sometime in July 2010? If that is the case, it would be wise to have a repeat chest X-ray at this time. Also, if you have not had pulmonary function tests performed, with measurement of what is called flow-volume loops (inspiratory and expiratory), such testing could also be helpful.
Avatar m tn Singulair is one type of a class of drug called anti-leukotrienes or leukotriene inhibitors. It blocks the activity of undesirable leukotrienes , produced by the body, that cause the symptoms you describe. It is often helpful for the treatment of nasal allergies, its biologic action different than that of antihistamines and inhaled nasal steroids but its actions often complementary to these drugs. It is often effective for the symptoms you describe.
Avatar m tn Had sudden onset of acute nasal congestion 2 years ago and has been chronic ever since. I originally thought it my be my cats who moved in three months prior but had allergy test which results have been negative. Have seen ENT who looked through scope and found nothing other than inflamation of right turbinate, preformed CT scan of sinus with no sign of infection.
Avatar n tn Especially if the “trouble breathing” is of recent onset, it will be most important that you and your doctors conduct all tests necessary to establish the cause. This investigation might require your requesting a 2nd opinion with a lung specialist, (pulmonologist). You should not have to suffer “trouble breathing” indefinitely. Doctors should be able to diagnose and treat the cause.
1135961 tn?1279145314 I have seen two doctors and im on a combination of meds. They are, Advair500, Atrovent, Alvesco, Prednizone, Singulair, and ventolin. All these meds dont seem to work.Ive been to the e.r three times in the last two months. And during my last visit I was put on bypass. Its seems like every day my chest is tight, and I wease a little. Sure there are some good days, but overall my asthma is still out of control. I feel so frustrated , and dont want to end up in the er again. What do I do?
Avatar n tn t take the Zyflo CR, because these meds effect some peoples emotions incl. me apparently.... but taking the higher dose of Singulair has brought some relief.... I'm not a doc but I've been to many trying to get mystery burning of the skin and rashes figured out incl. a dbl ear infection and EVERY doc that the dbl. Singulair and Zyflo was a Brilliant idea.... God bless, keep the faith...
Avatar m tn Whoa, Nelly. Regardless of whethr or not you use Singulair you absolutely positively MUST always carry around an emergency albuterol sulfate inhaler. MUST. Do not pass go. Do not collect two hundred dollars. While these cost as much as sixty dollars each in the United States Wal-Mart had a generic brand for sale (in store only) for less than ten dollars. I also question the use of a blood pressure medication for anyone suffering asthmatic attacks unless absolutely positively necessary.
Avatar m tn i just wanted to post a warning to other parents. my son was on singulair for over 3 years. he was taking the drug for treatment of mild asthma and allergies. he suffered from undetected side effects for 3 years. the side effects were sneaky and subtle and i did not pick up on the cause. at the age of 7, his physician increased his dosage to 5mg due to his age. after that increase, his side effects became loud and clear.
460830 tn?1347219306 What was the problem with Singulair a while back? I heard something about it, but I never heard what the problem was with it.
920032 tn?1550680156 lately my overnight breathing is causing me problems. i asked my gp for singulair but she prescribed atrovent. it does get mucus up but i am waking to cough it up. i have excersize induced asthma. it was on this site that i heard about singulair.
Avatar f tn My Dr has recommended I try singualr along with Allegra and flonase. He had told me the SIngulair will not make me feel funny, cause anxiety or heart palps etc...yet I see there are a lot of negative side effects. Does anyone have any experience on this medicine or just how safe it is?
Avatar n tn They also looked in my ears and said they looked fine and could only see signs of a couple minor droplets of fluid. They did say I should try a decongestant and antihistamine to see if that helped. I have never taking allergy medication before since I didn't think I had allergies(at least not significantly) but was starting to question if this was an adult onset allergy(since allergies run rampant in the family). I mentioned it to my doctor but he didn't want to do allergy tests...
Avatar f tn 5 hours, 50% of the amount of Singulair in your body will be eliminated. If you took a 5mg dose of Singulair, within the time frames they gave, you will only have 2.5mg left in your body. 2.7-5.5 hours later, you will have 50% of THAT amount left in your body. This 50% reduction will continue until all of the medication is out of your system. I totally suck at math but maybe YOU'RE an Einstein and can figure out, from this equation, exactly when the last of the Singulair will leave your body.
Avatar m tn m interested in hearing from anybody who has had similar symptoms, or a similar course of action before getting a diagnosis. I have never really heard of tinnitis or vertigo being symptoms of MS, and those are the main reasons I even started pursuing medical help to begin with. The doctors have ruled out some explanations (like the acoustic neuroma), but there are still other possibilities on the table (Meniere's disease, or even high blood pressure for example).
Avatar n tn It kind of sounds like a form of Action tremors, but I have to agree with mkh9.
Avatar f tn It's nice to say "I'm not giving up diving", but you may have to choose between diving and death. In death, for the next billion years you can dream about diving. The bright side is, I am not convinced you have to make that choice. Let's forget about terms such as "asthma", for a moment. You are experiencing sudden onset shortness of breath, which grows worse (you haven't experienced where it may go) and it is relieved by albuterol sulfate.
Avatar n tn I have looked up the side effects of both Singulair and Advair. It seems that both can cause skin issues. I just know that he's been using the Advair all along with no problems but once he started the Singulair the itching returned. Now I will have to say that the past two days have been better. Maybe his body needed to adjust? Dunno.
Avatar f tn It was then that I researched the side effects of my prescribed drugs and determined that I should stop taking the Singulair. My doctor prescribed a replacement for Singulair, and within a month the numbness went away. Over the past few months I have tried to get back into running. I used to run frequently, always training for a 5k, 10k, or half-marathon, so not sprinting. I have never had a problem with my heart rate or my blood pressure, but now I do.
Avatar m tn Call your doctor ASAP to make adjustments in your treatment. I have never heard of twitching with Singulair, but it is a side effect of other asthma meds. Be sure to let your doctor know that you have stopped taking Singulair this week and watch for signs of uncontrolled asthma - increased use of inhaler, coughing, sighing... There are a lot of subtle signs that people miss. You do need to be off the med, but be careful. Take care and I am glad you are feeling better.
Avatar f tn I am a mother of a 26 year daughter who recently pulled the plug on taking a daily dose of Singulair (it was generic) after over a year. It was used as a maintenance treatment for chronic allergies and sinus infections. Seemed to work ok, however in the 6 months there had been a couple times she rushed herself to the doctor for symptoms that no one even thought to suspect the allergy medication. First there was numbing and tingling in her arms.

Avatar f tn He said that the side effect was kind of rare, but possible. Of course we took him off of the singulair, but it hasn't taken the pins and needles away. I hope that he will have some relief at some point. We are planning of giving him the neruontin before the beginning of the school year to take away some of the discomfort. How are you doing now? Have you had any changes?
370736 tn?1247242917 Hi everyone! Does anyone else out there have asthma? This is my first pregnancy with asthma and the whole thing is putting me on edge. I just got over a bad cold and had to use inhalers etc. Even when I didn't have the cold I already felt breathless at times. I think it is part of the whole hormonal thing but just double checking to see if anyone else has had similar symptoms. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I have been taking singulair for a couple of years now and have all of a sudden developed a head tremor.
Avatar n tn m on Advair 500/50, Singulair, Allegra, Mucinex and have been stable for over a year. I also have a history of seasonal allergies (life long) and adult onset asthma. Two weeks ago some respiriatory infection set in: don't know if it was a virus intially--it felt that way--scratchy throat, tender glands, ears plugged. That all persists, after two courses of antibiotics and prednisone. I am also nebulizing with albuterol every 4-6 hours.
Avatar f tn is there another medicine similar to singulair that doesn't have the bad side effects
