My girlfriend suffers from chronic asthma, which has resulted in nearly annual hospital stays. She found a specialist that seemed to have a temporary solution- daily Advair and Singulair medication (high dose) and Prednisone treatments every few months during recurring problems.
Take 20mg of prilosec on an empty stomach in morning with a glass of water , don't eat anything for at least half an hour and as Beachwalker suggested ask your doctor for a sample pack of singulair and try it for 7 days . It works great even for people who have reflux induced asthma . I have done quite a lot of experiments on me . I will try to find out some natural stuff for you .

Polyps are very difficult to treat. I typically give my patients steroid nasal spray, oral steroids, Singulair, and saline sinus irrigations. It's also reasonable to be on an allergy medication like Claritin and to have allergy testing done. Surgery is usually required eventually. BTW, the "holes" are not visible. They are referring to opening the natural sinus ostia (holes) that get blocked by the polyps or scarring from chronic infections.
Instead I use 1000 mg. vitamin B5 (anti-inflammatory and mucolytic), mullein extract and MSM (both natural anti-inflammatories). There are absolutely not side effects to these natural supplements. So the pulmonary doc increased my dosage of Advair from 100/50 to 250/50 and gave me Singulair, and Xopenex in my nebulizer. Nothing made any difference.......still coughing like crazy...........so I called and asked for cough syrup and that's when he perscribed the prednisone to reduce the imflammation. I've been on that now for 5 days but still coughing. My brother also has very severe asthma and he says that the doc needs to find out WHY I have the asthma in the first place.
Colloidal silver is quack medicine. Stuff kills some bacteria in a petri-dish and sucks money from people. Exercise, esp. aerobic exercise, good nutrition, no caffiene, reduced sugar intake, and staying well hydrated is the best non-drug "therapy" around (yes, read article about caffiene and AST levels).
it is EXTREMELY uncomfortable.. extremely! I have read about Quercetin, a natural antihistamine. Has anyone tried this at all and has helped relieve there hives? I have also read Mint helps and also Sandalwood oil helps too. I prefer natural remedies personally but I will do whatever for them to go away for good. Has anyone had relief from doing a Total Detoxification program at all? A remember reading a gentleman's log and he had gone to India for AYURVEDA treatment..
No water got into my ears, which is always a concern, and although I no longer get sinus infections, a lot of clear phlegm got flushed out this way. Because I have been to so many doctors and their treatments don't help me, they start looking for other alternative answers such as panic attacks. My question always is - explain the mucus then! Why does the mucus change when I get into these attacks? Why does the mucus change again and start to move again when the breathing attacks start to cease? There does't seem to be a pattern either. I get these attacks at any time of year.
I've been searching for answers for so long and have seen so many doctors, tried so many medicines, and alternative treatments etc. Everything just kept on progressing until I got to the point where I could hardly function. The most headway I've made has been somewhat recent. I've had some diagnosis that have been totally wrong, but the ones that seem to be correct are IBS, Fibromyalgia, Gastroparesis.
I saw him last week to talk to him about other alternative drugs because nothing is working. He put me on Xyzal. I was told that it's new here but they've been using it in Europe for some time. I've been taking it for four days now. It hasn't stopped the hives completely but I'm giving it some time and praying every time I put one in my mouth.
I broke down and took two rounds of antibiotics for a recent bout of sinus pain and congestion, and sicker since, unable to work, fatigued with head pressure, had swollen nodes in the back of my neck/head that were sore. Never had that in my life. I went to a natural doctor who has put me on a detoxifying shake with many nutrients that clear the system out. Also homeopathic drops to put in water to build my resistence up to allergens. She also mentioned removing any mercury tooth fillings.
I would be eliminated because I am unable to refrain from using antihistamines, Prednisone and Singulair for the month proceeding the injection. Really, if one has a bad case of hives, how on earth can you stop using medication? I finally found a doctor who is willing to try Xolair. but I'm like you, why now all of a sudden would it bother me like this. I don't think I'll go for the shots. I think I will use the saline rinse, Singulair and NasaCort and see how I do this summer. If I get really bad again I guess I'll have to try the shots. I do not sneeze or cough. Guess we just have to wait it out or cure ourselves. I hold down my couch most of the time, also. Just try to get to work and home. What a life.
I am trying to find an alternative. Besides the regular red bumpy hives I have been getting weird splotches in random spots on my hands and arms. Its bizarre and itchy. It makes no sense. They are in no real pattern. Its beyond baffling. I can't help but wonder if there isn't something else to this. I too am athletic but I am not a runner. I just work out alot. There is so little research out there on this, according to my phd./md allergy doc.

Best wishes.
But it has continued, despite taking benedryl, claratin, zyrtec, moving to a different part of the country, and having multiple food and airo-allergen tests. Well about month ago, I started drinking this all natural fruit juice supplement which boasts that it is a very effective anti-inflammatory. With an a month and half I noticed that I had not had an swelling, which usually occurred twice a month. I kept drinking it just to make sure.
I feel like I'm drowning. I take Singulair, albuterol inhalers, AND albuterol solution in a nebulizer. The nebulizer helps a teeny tiny bit but not much and I have to do the whole treatment and it makes my heart feel like I've just ran a race. It more than doubles my heart rate and the beating is so HARD. I hate it. I feel hopeless. I'm going to make another Dr. Appointment and ask about the Nexium. Thanks. p.s. I wonder if MY problem has anything to do with ragweed.
