1510649 tn?1301575339 Hello. I recently got a phone call from my doctor's office regarding my liver enzymes being elevated. My ALT is 109 and my AST is 58. This same doctor's office ran a lipid profile on me about three months ago and those levels were normal then. Is there anything that could be causing these enzymes to be elevated now? My doctor's office is now checking my enzyme levels again, and they're also running a bunch of other tests, too (B12, HIV, hepatitis, herpes, syphilis, etc., etc.
Avatar n tn Thyroid hormones/antibodies are within range (other than 1 slightly elevated free T4), but right lobe of thyroid gland was found to be enlarged on ultrasound (endocrinologist does not believe that to be the cause). Liver enzymes originally checked in December and found to be on high end of normal. Retested in March '10 and found to be slightly elevated. Retested again in April '10 and found to be increasing slowly.
Avatar m tn what are some of the things that could cause liver enzymes to become elevated and keep elevating as time goes on? my son is on entocort, niferex ,singulair ,nexium and he was on imuran but he got taken of because they thought thats what was causing the elivated liver enzymes but so far instead of going down the are going up. he also suffers from celiac and that is well maneged.
Avatar f tn the only results i got back that were abnormal were my liver enzymes, which were all elevated for about a period of 3 months in the winter (don't drink, no meds) and an elevated level of CPK. this is unfortunately effecting the quality of my life in a very dramatic way, and i am desperate to find out what's going on. please help, if you can.
Avatar f tn But it must be emphasized that higher-than-normal levels of these liver enzymes should not be automatically equated with liver disease. They may mean liver problems or they may not. The interpretation of elevated AST and ALT levels depends upon the whole clinical picture and so it is best done by doctors experienced in evaluating liver disease. The precise levels of these enzymes do not correlate well with the extent of liver damage or the prognosis (outlook).
Avatar n tn Elevated Liver Enzymes can be the result of damaging liver disease, acute or prolonged use of medications or alcohol, or harmful exposure to a wide variety of environmental toxins (many of which you are probably exposed to every day). Livergenex is your safe, natural choice for lowering elevated liver enzymes and putting you on the path to a healthier more energetic life. Elevated liver enzymes indicate inflammation or damage to cells in your liver.
Avatar f tn I am having major issues with bile duct blockage. Had an ERCP 6 weeks ago, liver enzymes were OK now had blood work done and all were very high especially ALP. Wondering if this has happened to anyone else. I am scheduled for another MRI and possibly another ERCP. He is also testing me for primary billary cirrhosis , which is new because of the high ALP. I am scared to death, I need to stay off the Internet because most has been doom and gloom.
Avatar n tn My son had liver enzymes alt and ast that were at over 300 and then over 2000 4 weeks later. He develped a bleed and died. Could he have had liver failure in that short of time. He had been on a TPN feeding for 8 weeks. Just curious.
184420 tn?1326739808 I feel liver biopsy may not be done earlier than 2-3 yearly. Enzymes are neccessary to see liver inflammation. and viral load should be kept minimum. Not taking any treatment is not advisable. We are only talking to ourselves. Can we get some doctor to discuss the things ? some other web site anybody?
Avatar f tn i went from 1447 to 700 in 2 weeks after detoxing liver enzymes still high but should i still be worried?
Avatar f tn If you usually have normal levels of liver enzymes,it can take up to 2 weeks to get back to those levels.
Avatar f tn My husband is 35 with no history of poor health. For the last 5 days his stool has been white-ish in color. He felt crummy last week for a couple days, so he went to bed. He rarely takes any kind of medicines, but he's had a headache so he took some tylenol for a couple days. He went to the dr on Monday 4-23 and his blood work came back today saying his cholesterol was low (they didn't specify which one-LDL or HDL) but his liver enzymes were high.
Avatar f tn Elevated liver enzymes as a result of statin use does not necessarily mean there is liver damage. Stopping the drug frequently results in normalization of liver enzymes. And occasionally changing to a different statin solves the problem of elevated liver enzymes while maintaining an improved cholesterol level.
Avatar m tn s 2 drinks/day for a guy), you might just be OK (assuming the alcohol is the cause - other diseases and conditions can also cause elevated liver enzymes). If you have a hard time sticking to those guidelines, it might be that you have an alcohol problem and there are many resources to help you with that. If you want to see something I wish I would have seen when I was your age as it relates to alcohol, find the BBC documentary "Rain in my Heart" on youtube.
Avatar n tn My (ALT) liver enzymes was at 54 two years ago. That Dr. said it was a fatty liver. I had not been to a Dr. since, until this month. This Dr. did a blood draw and my (ALT) is now at a 91. I am over weight by about 65lbs , 38yrs, 5'2". I was drinking once a week or so with family and friends in the last 6yrs and of course eat bad food. Before 32yrs. I didn't drink. What could cause this? My Dr. now has scheduled me for CT scan.
1098161 tn?1257447833 No, those are antihistamines and won't damage the liver. There are a couple of websites that show drug label info, like rxlist.com and drugs.com. I comb through those if I am considering using something new, looking for any liver side effects of drugs. There are 2 liver enzymes, AST and ALT. ALT is made in the liver and it's leakage into the bloodstream indicates cell damage to the liver. AST, however, can also come from damaged muscle and heart.
1213752 tn?1266507249 I have inflammation and cirrhosis of the liver, but nothing predominant...The GI doc said that the toxin levels in my liver were very high and he thinks that is why I am having trouble with my liver. Today they have gone down to ALT- 626 and AST-415. I have been experiencing new symptoms since the levels have dropped. I am now getting pain in my liver, where I was not before. I also get headaches every time I eat or if I eat gluten products and every time I do something slightly active...
Avatar m tn the blood test showed that levels of calcium, magnisium, sodium, and putasium are normal but liver enzymes are elevated - VERY HIGH - i have done ultrasound check and it showed that i have a fatty liver. The doctor's diagnosis was that i have shortage in Vitamin D caused by high liver enzymes which leads to these involuntary movements in my muscles. The question is .. do high liver enzymes affect muscles? and does it really affect levels of vitamin D ?
586653 tn?1282046650 my 10 month old had a blood test coz she was anemic, thats when they told me about her liver enzymes. i didnt know what that was but i knew it wasnt good. they did blood test on her twice and its still the same. shes got another appointment which is for nxt month. shes been poorly in the past but otherwise eats fine and is a happy child.im so scared as iv done internet search and have not found anything good.
Avatar f tn Did anyone out there have their liver enzymes checked sometime after they quit hydros/percs? I'm on Day 8 and yesterday I had mine checked and they were elevated. Not dangerously, but enought to get my attention. I was taking 8-10 Lortab 10/500's a day a few days before I quit. Any thoughts or experiences to share, so I can stop worrying about it? Thanks!
Avatar f tn Can zantac alone, or in combination with any of the prescription drugs cause liver enzymes to increase? Been taking the Zantac almost, but not every day for over a year. Thanks much for you response. P.S. I also take one Omeprazole 20 mg every morning.
Avatar n tn hiya my daughter is 2 years old and for nearly a year shes had slightly abnormal enzymes in her liver, im SO scared this is gonna be something serious for her. is there any chance it could be? ive had no real explination from my doctor. i admit she has had a poor diet but im gonna really try now. is there any advice you can give me i would be SO greatful. should i be worried about my baby girl?
Avatar f tn I was on symbicort but that made me to anxious. Singulair made me too anxious too. My daughter takes singulair every night and still has asthma and allergies flare ups. Veramyst nasal spray works best for me and nasonex is ok. I don't know which antihistamine medicine works best, I've tried them all too and they all have a side effect,.
Avatar f tn No, I have never had pain there. The only pain I ever get from the AIH is upper shoulder pain like arthritis which is caused by the aih I believe. But I never suffer from caffeine nor my meds, I don't touch alcohol though because it would be very bad for me.
Avatar n tn m assuming you mean liver enzymes. Has she been diagnosed with Hepatitis C? Is she on any new medications, either OTC, Rx or supplements? Hopefully her Dr. is followong up on this...........
