460830 tn?1347219306 What was the problem with Singulair a while back? I heard something about it, but I never heard what the problem was with it.
Avatar f tn html) On the other hand, singulair is a medicine called a leukotriene receptor antagonist and prescribed for the treatment of asthma and allergic rhinitis:The most common side effects include: stomach pain, heartburn, stuffy nose, flu, dizziness, headache or rash. (ref:http://www.singulair.com/montelukast_sodium/singulair/consumer/allergies/for_parents/product_information/ppi/what_is_singulair.jsp) Your rash may be a side effect of the medications you are taking.
Avatar m tn Other medicines that can control your asthma, which should be a priority, and not cause tachycardia are inhaled steroids and a class of medicines called leukotriene inhibitors, such as Singulair® (montelukast sodium). You should discuss these with your doctor. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Your daughter should not take Singulair is she has developed these symptoms because they can be dangerous. She needs to get her medication switched from Singulair (Leukotriene Inhibitor) to another med (not a leukotriene inhibitor) depending on what she is using it for..whether it's asthma or allergies. There are plenty of meds out there, don't wait unitil it's too late.
Avatar n tn and another thing i forgot to ask. ive just been doing some research on singulair also and it seems like people are having alot of serious side effects including suicide. are there any drugs to help asthma that dont have these crazy side effects. i mean other than albuteral. it seems like advair is making alot of peoples asthma worse and singulair has a whole list of crazy side effects like people acting aggresive, suicide, cant sleep, nightmares, depression.
Avatar f tn Have a great time on your honeymoon and a blessed mariage. Feel free to use brand names. We do it all the time. You are on either Advair, Smybicort, or Dulera (the only combo meds on the market) and most likely Singulair (leukotrient modifier). Acolate and Zyflo are other leukotrient modifiers, but Singulair is the go to for beginners. It is actually good to talk about the brands and how they work for you. One brand may work better for some people than it does for others.
Avatar m tn ve been taking amplodipine / norvasc 10 mg (antihypertensive) for about a year and a half now and montelukast / singulair 10 mg (leukotriene modifier) for shorter periods (2 months, march - may 2008 and 2 months this year, started in early may and still on it). Last month, after having been on fluoxetine / prozac for about 1 year, I showed some deterioration (more depressive symptoms, more anxiety / panic attacks).
1890554 tn?1322678048 Granted, Singulair (a leukotriene receptor antagonist) is often effective in the treatment of both asthma and allergic, seasonal or perennial rhinitis, it is not an antihistamine and the addition of a drug in this category might provide relief of at least some of your symptoms. Check with your doctor on this before adding such a drug to your regimen.
Avatar f tn He or she may recommend over-the-counter medications such as Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or Claritin (loratadine), or prescription medicines such as a daily nasal steroid, such as Flonase (fluticasone), Rhinocort AQ (budesonide), Nasonex (mometasone furoate), or Beconase (beclomethasone), or a leukotriene inhibitor, such as Singulair (montelukast sodium).
Avatar m tn i just wanted to post a warning to other parents. my son was on singulair for over 3 years. he was taking the drug for treatment of mild asthma and allergies. he suffered from undetected side effects for 3 years. the side effects were sneaky and subtle and i did not pick up on the cause. at the age of 7, his physician increased his dosage to 5mg due to his age. after that increase, his side effects became loud and clear.
Avatar f tn My Dr has recommended I try singualr along with Allegra and flonase. He had told me the SIngulair will not make me feel funny, cause anxiety or heart palps etc...yet I see there are a lot of negative side effects. Does anyone have any experience on this medicine or just how safe it is?
Avatar m tn It causes asthma (Arizona Cypress, Mesquite and Palo Verde are the culprits.) Singulair has helped me very successfully in the past. However, I also take a very low dose blood pressure medication (Lisinopril 20mg). I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.
920032 tn?1550680156 lately my overnight breathing is causing me problems. i asked my gp for singulair but she prescribed atrovent. it does get mucus up but i am waking to cough it up. i have excersize induced asthma. it was on this site that i heard about singulair.
Avatar n tn 2 years ago he was put on Advair disk inhaler, Singulair, and Allegra D as his regimen. After about a month he started having a problem with his legs and groin itching. He took himself off the Singulair as that is what he decided was the problem. He has gotten by with just the Advair inhaler. In the past month he's really been struggling with breathing problems.

370736 tn?1247242917 I have asthma and use inhaler (long acting and short acting) and Singulair. My pulmonary doc and OB said they're fine to use in pregnancy. I have been using my inhaler a lot more during pregnancy and I'm pretty sure it's because we are now breathing for 2 and our blood flow (which carries oxygen) is going for 2.
Avatar n tn I have been taking singulair for a couple of years now and have all of a sudden developed a head tremor.
Avatar m tn Its functions include Glutathione metabolism (glutathione is the Master antioxidant and when present in adequate levels it assists in keeping the disease signalling JNK gene inactive), transfer of aminoacids across cellular membrane ,Leukotriene ( inflammatory mediator) metabolism and other lesser functions. Do you perhaps have elevated levels? Anyway, I hope this answers your question.
Avatar f tn Treatment options include application of skin creams (such as capsaicin cream), phototherapy with UV light, antihistaminics, and other drugs (such as leukotriene-receptor antagonists, beta blockers etc). It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar f tn This will help to relieve the congestion and the symptoms. Singulair is a leukotriene receptor antagonist indicated for relief of symptoms of allergic rhinitis. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I see many folks are experiencing side effects from Singulair. So am I ... I think. I was taking Singulair for just 5 days for and upper respiratory cold and began having tingling and numbness in my extremities. I stopped immediately. My question is, after eliminating all other possible causes (through a number of tests including MRIs, blood work, metals testing) with my doctor, I still have numbness, tingling and burning taking place in my legs and arms for 3 months now.
Avatar n tn I went to doctor and prescribed a Zycast anti-histamine ,anti leukotriene for 30 days...i have not taken it since i fear it would connect to other health probs like i experience having medicine allergy and cause me hard to breath, and i have hisory of mitral valve prolapse MVP..My concern is this medicine will not cause any side effect when i take it??
Avatar m tn My son started taking Singulair in Oct.2012, and then he started complaining about his leg, some kind of weird sensation. He called itchy feeling, but it was something he could not scratch away, something underneath the skin. He kept asking me to punch his leg with a 5-pound dumbbell. He wakes up twice or three times per night. He puts some hard things under his leg, and put press on it. He does it almost every night. He can't get enough sleep.
Avatar f tn I have alot to say about Singulair but none of it is good, unfortunately. My son was on Singulair for 3 yrs. I finally recognized the side effects he was having and discontinued. He suffered from leg pain, stomach pain, irritability, anxiety, quick to tears, easily frustrated and excessively fearful. At the age of 7, his dosage was increased to 5mg. At that point, it became very clear he was suffering side effects. All of the side effects I mentioned above were multipled x 10.
