Common Questions and Answers about Singulair how long to work

singulair

Avatar m tn I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.
Avatar f tn I was on symbicort but that made me to anxious. Singulair made me too anxious too. My daughter takes singulair every night and still has asthma and allergies flare ups. Veramyst nasal spray works best for me and nasonex is ok. I don't know which antihistamine medicine works best, I've tried them all too and they all have a side effect,.
Avatar f tn I am getting tired already tho and having back/ hip pain so hoping I can last that long at work. Work as long as I your body will let you.
Avatar n tn Has anyone experienced such long term effects? If so, what can be done if anything? This discussion is related to Side Effect of Singulair -- twitching.
Avatar f tn I have allergies and just figured out that I have postnasal drip, ear drainage issues, and stomach issues due to the mucus.. I wonder will Singular work with this ? The last time I tried taking antihistamines I felt drugged. I have been enjoying the better relief with a nasal steroid I have been using twice a day, is this safe for long term use? Thank you for your time !!!
Avatar f tn It is NOT going away and seems to be getting worse! Advil helps a little, but she is SCARED TO DEATH THAT SINGULAIR HAS DONE SOMETHING SERIOUS TO HER. What should she do? She is having trouble taking care of her 2 small children, I go to her house every day to help, but I don't know how much longer I can keep this up, especially seeing her in such agony! PLEASE, WE DON'T KNOW WHERE TO TURN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
920032 tn?1550680156 Hi, I used to be on Qvar and Ventolin, I recently changed doctors and explained to my dr that I had been needing my ventolin up to 10 times per day, even if all I was doing was sitting on thr lounge. He prescribed me with the symbicort turbuhaler and I have one puff off this once a day and in the past 2 months that I have been on it, I have pretty much forgotten that I am asthmatic, even through the extreme cold in the last couple of weeks.
Avatar f tn My Dr has recommended I try singualr along with Allegra and flonase. He had told me the SIngulair will not make me feel funny, cause anxiety or heart palps etc...yet I see there are a lot of negative side effects. Does anyone have any experience on this medicine or just how safe it is?
1154802 tn?1266485720 You should also be under care from a pulmonlogist, so it is someone that specializes in asthma and know the medications and how to treat. You may need to add another drug like qvar, singulair, theophyille etc. Also, it may take a while to have your lungs settle down from a flare-up. My lungs are still very twitchy after 2 months from having to use a pred burst, so give it some time.
640719 tn?1277140030 hmmmm Singulair is also an allergy medication (or suppose to be) but it may not be enough for you to control hayfever. It affects a different part of the immune system than the typical antihistamines so some people it works better on, some it does not work as well. From what I got out of the research results if that it does help allergic symptoms but not a huge amount, that is why it is an asthma medication that can also help allergies.
Avatar f tn Now having anxiety and fearful thoughts. It was I Sonia last week. How long do these kind of side effects last and would taking an over the counter antihistimines help? I see a new allergist in 10 days. I am not having caffeine or alcohol. I am eating clean and limiting sugar. Help please!! Avatar f tn Half life basically means how long it takes for half of the drug to be eliminated from your body/bloodstream. Also, remember any medication you take will have a list of side effects a mile long. If you search the side effects of any pill on the internet of course it will scare the you know what out of you. For example, if I looked up the potential side effects of the Motrin I took yesterday, I would probably never take it again.
Avatar f tn is there another medicine similar to singulair that doesn't have the bad side effects
370736 tn?1247242917 I have asthma and use inhaler (long acting and short acting) and Singulair. My pulmonary doc and OB said they're fine to use in pregnancy. I have been using my inhaler a lot more during pregnancy and I'm pretty sure it's because we are now breathing for 2 and our blood flow (which carries oxygen) is going for 2.
Avatar m tn Depression is a side effect of singulair. Sounds like you are really suffering with it. Call your doctor ASAP to make adjustments in your treatment. I have never heard of twitching with Singulair, but it is a side effect of other asthma meds. Be sure to let your doctor know that you have stopped taking Singulair this week and watch for signs of uncontrolled asthma - increased use of inhaler, coughing, sighing... There are a lot of subtle signs that people miss.
Avatar f tn Many, many health problems actually originate in the Gastrointestinal tract (you can look that concept up on-line) - be it decreased stomach acids, decreased enzymes to break up the food, leaving the food to ferment in the gut, leaky gut syndrome, etc. It would take a long note to get into all the possibilities. And if the diet helps (or some other food alteration helps) always keep inhalers on hand just in case. If I'm of no help, I pray that someone will be! Good luck!
1398713 tn?1282046685 First off, I'd like to apologize in advance for the lengthy post I am about to type. =) My name is Wendy. =) I am a 41 yr old female with past diagnoses with allergies, Asthma, Polycystic Ovaries, Fibrocystic Breast Disease, Psoriasis, Joint Hypermobility and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. None of the diagnosis I mentioned currently cause me any problems like they did in the past (and even then, they were only minor, aside from Asthma and allergies, of course).
Avatar m tn i just wanted to post a warning to other parents. my son was on singulair for over 3 years. he was taking the drug for treatment of mild asthma and allergies. he suffered from undetected side effects for 3 years. the side effects were sneaky and subtle and i did not pick up on the cause. at the age of 7, his physician increased his dosage to 5mg due to his age. after that increase, his side effects became loud and clear.
460830 tn?1347219306 Singulair is a leukotriene (loo-koe-TRY-een) inhibitor. Leukotrienes are chemicals your body releases when you breathe in an allergen (such as pollen). These chemicals cause swelling in your lungs and tightening of the muscles around your airways, which can result in asthma symptoms. Singulair is used to prevent asthma attacks in adults and children as young as 12 months old. It is also used to relieve runny nose and sneezing caused by allergies in adults and children as young as 6 months old.
Avatar f tn By Thursday November 10, 2016 I could no longer see with my glasses on because the vision was blurred and fuzzy. I finally decided to take them off while on the computer at work and to my amazement, I could see clearly without them. I drove home during the day and could see clearly and went back out at night and could still see clearly. I honestly can't believe that Advair and/or Singulair made me have vision problems for months, along with the other side effects.
Avatar f tn There is another new medication called symbicort, that is what I use and I LOVE it. It takes care of all of my chronic asthma conditions and I use an emergency inhaler for when I have a trigger that causes an attack. Check your side effects. I know for a fact that Singulair can cause ear ache and chest infection as well as other annoying side effects because I have had them, I got off of the medication because I didn't see improvement, my friend stayed on it and loves what it does for her.
Avatar m tn I thought he was nuts when he wanted to give me Singulair. But, it has been a miracle drug!
1580703 tn?1651904887 I was diagnosed with acute asthma last year and have been on symbicort/proventil for months, also singulair and took prednisone and methylprenisolone and I am still having breathing problems and chest tightness. taking some HC lately helped me breathe better and relax but still having breathing problems today. can you please help me??
Avatar n tn re just very dry. I also have dry mouth and very mild urinary retention in the morning (takes long to urinate in the morning), which I assume are side effects from my overdosing on medications. So, my question is, would it be worth it to go see an allergist or do I have to suffer until the end of allergy season? I feel like I have tried all classes of medications available.
