Singulair hives

Common Questions and Answers about Singulair hives

singulair

Avatar f tn I take singulair and doxepin perscribed by my allergist to control hives. I sometimes breakout with red pimple sores that hurt. A medical friend said the sores look like spider bites, but I'm sure they aren't. Can either singulair or doxepincause this reaction, and if so, what can I do for the sores short of not taking the medicine. Benidryl and oether similar medicines do not control my hives.
Avatar n tn Since July 22 of this year I have been breaking out in what was hives at first on a daily basis. Usually on my legs, and stomach. Then recently it has just been red patches that are around my nose and under my arms; with occasional patches on my arms, legs. I have been to my internist weekly since the last week of July. She sent me to a dermatologist who I have been seeing for a month now. No one can figure out what it is.
Avatar n tn For the past year, I have been suffering from Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria. At first, the hives were quite sporadic, occurring once or twice a month, but since December 09, they've been occurring daily. They appear at different areas on my body (including my palms), but rarely on my face, and usually last 2-3 hours. I've been tested for allergies, both food and environmental, and the only positives were certain molds, trees, and grasses.
198419 tn?1360242356 Hey, SL~ Boy, I didn't realize you were so miseravle with this. I'm sorry! THose dagnab histamines! They are our enemies in this house with 3 of our sons having asthma now. One has it severely, and the medication which has changed his life has been Singulair. It somehow stops the mast cells from firing, if you know the process. Or at least inhibits many of them from firing.
Avatar f tn One month ago ( around the time that I stopped nursing my 10-month-old) I started getting random lip swelling. From there it turned into itchy hives all over my body. I got a lot of blood work done for my allergist and immunologist everything came back normal but my CU index (chronic urticaria) was slightly elevated suggesting it's autoimmune response. He tested for a large variety of autoimmune disorders. The doctor is treating my symptoms with Zantac, Zyrtec, and Singulair.
198419 tn?1360242356 Hepatits) But, the proplem with hives is, if they signal an allergic reaction to the drug, the next time they might not be just hives. They can escalate at any time to airway problems or cardiac collapse. Let your doctor know! If they are bad, and they sound it, a Medrol dose pac might be in order (3 to 5 days of oral steroids). Don't take another dose until you talk to the doc! Call and call until you see him.
Avatar f tn After a visit to the dermatologist she increased my antihistamines to 3 Zyrtec a a day and a singulair. She also prescribed a cortisone cream. None of this helped the itch which was super intense at nighttime. By new years eve I was on a 3 week round of prednisone which finally gave me some relief. However the day I came the rash started back up again. I had a skin biopsy which came back as "general inflammation". It test negative for DH, Scabies or any other bacterial component.
Avatar f tn My mother has Graves disease, brother has Hoshimotos, one sister hyperthyroid, one sister hypo. I have been diagnosed with chronic hives, went to an allergist, completed poke tests and I'm not allergic. He sent me for labs and everything came back "normal". Besides the hives, I have sensativity to extreme temperatures, fatigue, joint pain, and the inability to lose weight. My labs are as follows. TSH 0.770, Free T4 1.1, anti-thyroglobulin <15.0, Anti-thyroid peroxidase 37.8.
460830 tn?1347219306 What was the problem with Singulair a while back? I heard something about it, but I never heard what the problem was with it.
Avatar m tn i just wanted to post a warning to other parents. my son was on singulair for over 3 years. he was taking the drug for treatment of mild asthma and allergies. he suffered from undetected side effects for 3 years. the side effects were sneaky and subtle and i did not pick up on the cause. at the age of 7, his physician increased his dosage to 5mg due to his age. after that increase, his side effects became loud and clear.
Avatar f tn My Dr has recommended I try singualr along with Allegra and flonase. He had told me the SIngulair will not make me feel funny, cause anxiety or heart palps etc...yet I see there are a lot of negative side effects. Does anyone have any experience on this medicine or just how safe it is?
Avatar m tn It causes asthma (Arizona Cypress, Mesquite and Palo Verde are the culprits.) Singulair has helped me very successfully in the past. However, I also take a very low dose blood pressure medication (Lisinopril 20mg). I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.
920032 tn?1550680156 lately my overnight breathing is causing me problems. i asked my gp for singulair but she prescribed atrovent. it does get mucus up but i am waking to cough it up. i have excersize induced asthma. it was on this site that i heard about singulair.
Avatar f tn Well within one hour my entire body, every part head to toe was bright red and covered in severely itchy hives. Since returning home I have seen 3 doctors who all say that the solumedrol would not have caused the hives, but there's not one other thing I can think of that could have done this. I'm still using creams and Benedryl but without relief. I haven't slept more than 2 hours in over a week.
Avatar n tn Now I would get red patches and my body would break out into hives, or at least I think they were hives. Tiny red spot all over my arms, neck, shoulders, sometimes their were individual tiny spots and sometimes they formed together to make this big red mass. Also I sometimes got these goosebumps on my arms , but only on my upper arm never on my forearm, and on my back too, and my skin would get really tight. Also since September I have not been able to sweat, I always break out into hives.
Avatar f tn I'm 43 years old. Heathy and fit. I've had an allergic reaction to the cold since I was a child. It varies all the time some years worse than others. I break out in hive or develop a rash up my arms or my eyes or lips swell up. It is winter time now and I've noticed I am having a very hard time taking a deep breath. Not all the time, it seems to get really bad when I'm cold. Could this now be a new reaction I'm getting.
Avatar f tn Hi, Yes, some people might develop allergic reactions in the form of facial swelling, hives, asthma, breathing difficulty, shock etc with use of ibuprofen. Most commonly there is aspirin allergy noticed in coincidence with allergy to ibuprofen. Asprin belongs to salicylate group while ibuprofen belongs to NSAID’s group. It does not mean that allergy will occur to every compound of that group.
Avatar f tn I have been on 5 -6 courses of steroids and I continue to be on a double dose of Zyrtec, a double dose Xyzal, 1 doses of Doxepin and a dose of Singulair. These have worked for a while and then the hives come back even stronger. The Allergist now wants to add a dose of cyclosporine and if that does not work he wants to add a dose of Methotrexate – all of which have side effects that have to be monitored on a regular basis.
Avatar f tn I also became allergic to NSAIDs and aspirin about 3 years ago. I have also been experiencing bouts of hives on and off for about 5 months on my feet and lower legs. This last flare-up that I am experiencing currently, has been going on for about a week and a half where hives cover my lower legs and feet. I have also noticed some places on my hands and arms. I have experienced some angioedema in my hands and feet when it gets really bad.
Avatar n tn Took numerous allergy test which turned up I was only allergic to ragweed. The hives would not be controled with medication. They lasted for a full year then went away on its on. Then in 2006 they came back 5 months after having my second child. Went to see an allergist performed all kinds of test. She diagnosed me with Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria. I was in and out of the hospital for months. Each time the hives would continue to get worse. My throat would swell.
Avatar f tn I was also taking hydroxizine50mg,zyrtec,pepcid, singulair and benidryl. I was still getting the hives and rashes. The steroids and the hives are making me crazy. I havnt been able to totally quite smoking but have cut down .Im now on 30mg prednisone, pepcid, singulair, synthroid and benedryl. I only take the benedryl when I need it. I seem to get maybe 2 or 3 days withoutthe rash, however now my face seems to be swelling quite often .
Avatar n tn 2 years ago he was put on Advair disk inhaler, Singulair, and Allegra D as his regimen. After about a month he started having a problem with his legs and groin itching. He took himself off the Singulair as that is what he decided was the problem. He has gotten by with just the Advair inhaler. In the past month he's really been struggling with breathing problems.

370736 tn?1247242917 I have asthma and use inhaler (long acting and short acting) and Singulair. My pulmonary doc and OB said they're fine to use in pregnancy. I have been using my inhaler a lot more during pregnancy and I'm pretty sure it's because we are now breathing for 2 and our blood flow (which carries oxygen) is going for 2.
Avatar n tn He has had surgery on several occasions prior to this one. About 6 weeks after his surgery he developed hives that were localized below his waist and down the sides of his trunk. In addition, his upper lip and uvula have been swollen on occasion. We already know there was no cement used during the replacement. He has been on prednisone twice, has taken 50 mg. of Benedryl every 6 hours for 30 days, and has been on Zyrtec and Tagamet every night for the past two months.
