Avatar m tn I am a 32 year old male with a somewhat mild case of asthma, and I take symbicort and albutoral as medication. I hate it. I recently developed some PVCs (heart palpatations), and I would really like to use a long term asthma controller in place of the symbicort that does not have increased heart rate as a side effect. Are there any somewhat effective asthma medications (long term controller, not rescue inhaler) that do not have increased heart rate as one of the side effects?
Avatar f tn Some people are sensitive to the heart effects of this medicine and get a rapid heart beat, as you do. This rapid heart beat and shakiness that accompanies it is more of a nuisance than a real threat, unless you have underlying heart disease. That you need to take this inhaler frequently or regularly, is an indication that your asthma is not well controlled and that you should be on one or more long-acting medicines for it.
Avatar n tn In addition to a great deal of shortness of breath and fatigue, I also began to experience significant heart palpitations, extreme lightheadedness and near fainting spells. On one occasion, I went to the ER and 1 1/2 hours after I was laying on the floor, my heart rate on the EKG was only 40 bpm. After an echocardiogram, a stress test and a CT angiogram, I was diagnosed with non-specific palps and vasovagal reaction. I was also treated wtih GERD meds, singulair and inhalers.
Avatar m tn I am a 21 yr old female and am a healthy weight for my size. For the past 24 hrs I've been experiencing dull chest pain, which is usually mild to moderate and seems to be mainly on my left at and above my breast but it extends to the other side. For the last few months, I've often noticed heart palpitations, esp when I'm laying down, where my heart seems like it beats really fast for a minute or so and then slows down.

Avatar n tn Your post is light on details but if you're having palpitations and high heart rate at rest (how high in the 100's are we talking?) then you should get checked out. I understand that you are afraid of having your activity levels or current medications altered but only a Dr. with proper testing equipment can tell you if your symptoms are indicative of a heart issue, an adverse reaction to your ADHD drug or simply a benign nuisance (most likely).
Avatar f tn My Dr has recommended I try singualr along with Allegra and flonase. He had told me the SIngulair will not make me feel funny, cause anxiety or heart palps etc...yet I see there are a lot of negative side effects. Does anyone have any experience on this medicine or just how safe it is?
Avatar m tn It causes asthma (Arizona Cypress, Mesquite and Palo Verde are the culprits.) Singulair has helped me very successfully in the past. However, I also take a very low dose blood pressure medication (Lisinopril 20mg). I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Singulair for the past 8 days and upon exercising, I am still having swelling in legs, arms, and stomach, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, and extreme sensitivity to heat. I payed careful attention to my body after the exercise and noticed that after exercising, my stomach seemed to be filled with fluid and made a "swush" sound. I also felt nauseous for several hours after exercise.
Avatar m tn This is my first time posting. Last thursday I woke up with my heart beating extremely fast. I freaked out but stayed calm enough to get my heart down. I did not take my pulse but it felt like it was close to 200 bpm. I chalked it up to anxiety and went on about my day. Except it happened again the next morning. I went to my doctor who did not seem concerned at all and he prescribed a beta blocker.

Avatar f tn It was then that I researched the side effects of my prescribed drugs and determined that I should stop taking the Singulair. My doctor prescribed a replacement for Singulair, and within a month the numbness went away. Over the past few months I have tried to get back into running. I used to run frequently, always training for a 5k, 10k, or half-marathon, so not sprinting. I have never had a problem with my heart rate or my blood pressure, but now I do.
1100598 tn?1413127426 The cough brings up a foaming white phlegm, and sometimes causes heart palpitations. Ever since then, I have had chest pain, shortness of breath, fainting spells, weakness, back pain, a worseneing cough, low grade fever, chills, rash on my belly or chest, and nausea. The swollen lymph nodes have also returned. My doctor says I have bronchitis/walking pneumonia and put me on doxycycline on tuesday, but I am not feeling any better. I only have one day of antibiotics left.
15255345 tn?1439421009 Hers appear to be the result of adverse side effects to taking the allergy medication Singulair. She abruptly stopped once she realized the cause of her anxiety, heart palpitations , chest tightness, insomnia, nightmares and fearful thoughts. It has been 3 weeks and she is still experiencing the same side effects in waves. Anxiety and panic attacks are immediately brought on by caffeine and sugar. In her case she wants to purge her system of the medication without taking another drug.

Avatar m tn i just wanted to post a warning to other parents. my son was on singulair for over 3 years. he was taking the drug for treatment of mild asthma and allergies. he suffered from undetected side effects for 3 years. the side effects were sneaky and subtle and i did not pick up on the cause. at the age of 7, his physician increased his dosage to 5mg due to his age. after that increase, his side effects became loud and clear.

Avatar f tn I've had heart palpitations for 10 months, they started right after a hiatus hernia operation. I get them everyday. I get them at different times, while watching tv or just relaxing in bed, doing normal everyday things. I had blood work done and was told I was low on B12 and was told to take 1000 mcg of a supplement daily. While taking it the palpitations got stronger so I stopped taking it and they eased up.
Avatar n tn My sons diagnosis was coronary vasospasm which mimics a heart attack. He was admitted to a heart hospital and all indicators were that he suffered a heart attack angiogram was negative for damage and labs went to normal levels before discharge. He is a chronic asthmatic with Samters Triad (look this up as well) which is nasal polyposis, allergy to NSAIDs, and asthma. He was controlled until age 19 when it all broke lose.
Avatar m tn I started noticing heart palpitations when I graduated college. It seems like my palpitations are getting worse and have now flat lined. So I do not sense that the palpitations are getting worse. I visited my doctors about them and they put me on a holter monitor and they didn't have a solution for my heart palpitations. So they decided to put me on beta blocker (Lowest Dose- Half of 25MG), which has helped a lot with my heart palpitations. I can now exercise without any palpitations.
Avatar f tn PLEASE HELP Let me add that she is NOT in tears because the Singulair has made her depressed, we heard all about that in the news. Avatar f tn Hi, I'm a 27 year old female, who just recently started having heart palpitations. I've had EKG's and an echo cardiogram, but my cardiologist says it's stress induced. She also told me to avoid caffeine and alcohol, get lots of sleep and drink lots of water. I've been pretty good about all of those things, trying to reduce stress in my life, but I've felt palpitations everyday for the past 3 and a half months, since the day they started.
Avatar f tn Heart palpitations are common in pregnancy because of your increased blood volume. It also can be related to amemia..anxiety. .etc.I hope you feel better.
