I have a 4 1/2 year old son who has been displaying aggressive behavior at school - rarely does he do it at home. A little background on him...he has a neuro-sensory hearing loss in his left ear, and wears an aid. Since we discovered the loss - and got the aid - just over a year ago, his behavior and speech have improved. He also has allergy induced asthma. He takes Singulair daily and takes Pulmicort and Xopenex as needed via nebulizer when he starts to show signs of coughing.

Does she have hair under her arms or in her pubic area? Sometimes these things can be caused by hormonal imbalances. That can be tested with a simple blood test; however, it could also be genetic. I doubt the meds have anything to do with the hair growth unless it is a side effect. YOu should ask your doctor. But the weight gain and hair make it sound hormonal. hmmmm Singulair is also an allergy medication (or suppose to be) but it may not be enough for you to control hayfever. It affects a different part of the immune system than the typical antihistamines so some people it works better on, some it does not work as well. From what I got out of the research results if that it does help allergic symptoms but not a huge amount, that is why it is an asthma medication that can also help allergies.

What was the problem with Singulair a while back? I heard something about it, but I never heard what the problem was with it.

i just wanted to post a warning to other parents. my son was on singulair for over 3 years. he was taking the drug for treatment of mild asthma and allergies. he suffered from undetected side effects for 3 years. the side effects were sneaky and subtle and i did not pick up on the cause. at the age of 7, his physician increased his dosage to 5mg due to his age. after that increase, his side effects became loud and clear.

My Dr has recommended I try singualr along with Allegra and flonase. He had told me the SIngulair will not make me feel funny, cause anxiety or heart palps etc...yet I see there are a lot of negative side effects. Does anyone have any experience on this medicine or just how safe it is?

It causes asthma (Arizona Cypress, Mesquite and Palo Verde are the culprits.) Singulair has helped me very successfully in the past. However, I also take a very low dose blood pressure medication (Lisinopril 20mg). I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.

lately my overnight breathing is causing me problems. i asked my gp for singulair but she prescribed atrovent. it does get mucus up but i am waking to cough it up. i have excersize induced asthma. it was on this site that i heard about singulair.

2 years ago he was put on Advair disk inhaler, Singulair, and Allegra D as his regimen. After about a month he started having a problem with his legs and groin itching. He took himself off the Singulair as that is what he decided was the problem. He has gotten by with just the Advair inhaler. In the past month he's really been struggling with breathing problems.

hav been taking singulair for 3 years. Cramps in fingers, throat and leg occured common. Shoulders drooped. Standing and sitting posture gone really bad. Extreme tiredness 24X7. Always thirsty even after gulping bottles of water. Inactive physically and mentally. Become even more inferior in social gatherings and activities. Can't even meet minimum commitments and thus affects career and personal, family relationships. After dropping Everything became normal after 8 - 10 days.

Low iron levels can cause hair loss. You might want to get that checked.

I'm losing hair too. Not in clumps but I clog the drain once a week from my hair loss. And all my friends said their hair was so full and healthy during pregnancy and after lost some. I actually posted about this a month or so ago. I have hair loss that really started post Tx. My hair didn't grow hardly at all during Tx, than about 6 weeks post Tx it really started falling out, probably lost 50%. Everyone says it should grow back fine after 6 months post Tx.
