Common Questions and Answers about Singulair for headache

singulair

Avatar f tn I take singulair and doxepin perscribed by my allergist to control hives. I sometimes breakout with red pimple sores that hurt. A medical friend said the sores look like spider bites, but I'm sure they aren't. Can either singulair or doxepincause this reaction, and if so, what can I do for the sores short of not taking the medicine. Benidryl and oether similar medicines do not control my hives.
Avatar f tn What do you find Singulair did for you? I found that, for me, it did nothing.
4178478 tn?1350667364 I take Zyrtec for my allergies and Singulair as needed. But Singulair is a script.

Avatar n tn I was taking Singulair for just 5 days for and upper respiratory cold and began having tingling and numbness in my extremities. I stopped immediately. My question is, after eliminating all other possible causes (through a number of tests including MRIs, blood work, metals testing) with my doctor, I still have numbness, tingling and burning taking place in my legs and arms for 3 months now. Has anyone experienced such long term effects? If so, what can be done if anything?
Avatar m tn Yes. Allergies is what's causing your post-nasal drip. I would ask your doctor about Singulair. P.S. I had NO allergy symptoms when my doctor gave it to me. Just worsening migraines...like way way worse. I thought he was nuts when he wanted to give me Singulair. But, it has been a miracle drug!
312330 tn?1245176752 Flovent, serevent (essentially advair), singulair, zithromax and xopenex ( I am on several others but these are specifically for my asthmatic problems). Some people do very well on Theo...I hope that it works out for you.
Avatar m tn I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.
Avatar m tn i just wanted to post a warning to other parents. my son was on singulair for over 3 years. he was taking the drug for treatment of mild asthma and allergies. he suffered from undetected side effects for 3 years. the side effects were sneaky and subtle and i did not pick up on the cause. at the age of 7, his physician increased his dosage to 5mg due to his age. after that increase, his side effects became loud and clear.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Singulair for a few months now and I haven't noticed any negative side effect. I take it along with a daily inhaler for my asthma and it really has helped me a lot.

460830 tn?1347219306 Singulair could cause depression & suicide for some people that used it.
Avatar n tn Hello, Side effects of singulair are many varying from non serious ones like nausea, abdominal pain, headache, heart burns and GI discomfort to serious ones like anaphylaxis, liver damage and depression and hallucinations. You can take zytec(cetrizine) for your allergies but it is also not without side effects. They may vary from allergic reactions to raised heart beat, seizures and liver damage.
Avatar f tn From your message, you appear to have an intolerance to the so-called non-sedating anti-histamines but hopefully will be able to take Singulair; it is a good drug for nasal allergies and also, for a fair number of people, effective treatment for asthma. And it is safe, not a cause of significant liver disease, and not associated with other side effects, deemed serious. To the best of our current knowledge, the long term use of a nasal steroid, as directed, does not pose a problem.
Avatar n tn My husband has battled asthma now for over 20 years. 2 years ago he was put on Advair disk inhaler, Singulair, and Allegra D as his regimen. After about a month he started having a problem with his legs and groin itching. He took himself off the Singulair as that is what he decided was the problem. He has gotten by with just the Advair inhaler. In the past month he's really been struggling with breathing problems.
Avatar f tn Unnecessary diagnostic studies, surgical interventions, and medical treatments are often the result of the inappropriate diagnosis of sinus headache. Both the International Headache Society and the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery have attempted to characterize conditions leading to headaches of rhinogenic (nasal) origin. However, they have done so from different perspectives and in isolation from the other specialty groups.
Avatar f tn My 2 year old son acquired severe RSV at 6 weeks old. Ever since then he now has virally induced asthma. So he's been hospitalized a few times with bronchiolitis when he was 1 years old. The typical treatment has been 2ce a day pulmicort and 3xs a day to every 4 hours of albuterol. If that didn't work they would add predisone and sometimes zithromax. And those combos knocked it out. Well he now has 3 weeks of a rattling cough that just doesn't go away.
370736 tn?1247242917 so far I have 3 for Singulair and 1 for Advair...good luck!
Avatar n tn I have been taking singulair for a couple of years now and have all of a sudden developed a head tremor.
Avatar f tn My nose will become so sore, that whichever half of my head was affected, that side of my nasal bone will actually be painful to the touch for the next few days, even after the headache is gone. I understand my anterior ethmoid nerve runs right up where the pain always concentrates, so could it be a pinched nerve? I'm very familiar with sinus infections, and my headaches have no sinus or allergy symptoms, nor have I had a cold, etc.
Avatar m tn But, now I have stomach pain and a headache. The ragweed is high (53) today. Alternaria mold was not measured but the overall mold count looks high. This is definitely the time of year when the Alternaria is high. I have not been taking Singulair this year at all and have not had a problem until now. Adding that might fix my problems.
Avatar f tn I have been on many type of antibiotics, use a saline rinse 2-3 times a day, take Nasonex, Astepro, Xyzal, Singulair and headache medicine. Some days are better than other but most days are constant pain, numbness, throbbing. A cat scan showed fluid in maxillary sinuses and some ethnoid sinusitus but my ENT surgeon shows no infection and is now considering a tubinate "snip" as he calls it to because my left turbinate is a bit large.
Avatar f tn I have alot to say about Singulair but none of it is good, unfortunately. My son was on Singulair for 3 yrs. I finally recognized the side effects he was having and discontinued. He suffered from leg pain, stomach pain, irritability, anxiety, quick to tears, easily frustrated and excessively fearful. At the age of 7, his dosage was increased to 5mg. At that point, it became very clear he was suffering side effects. All of the side effects I mentioned above were multipled x 10.
Avatar f tn I just found out about a month ago that my migraines were worsening due to sinus headaches and my doctor put me on Singulair. (Plus the other dozen meds I already take for migraines.) And this past month has been the best I've had in years!! Talk to your doctor about both issues and there are daily meds you can take for both sinuses and migraines. You want something you can take daily as a preventative not, JUST as needed, although as needed meds are a good thing to have too.
Avatar m tn My son started taking Singulair in Oct.2012, and then he started complaining about his leg, some kind of weird sensation. He called itchy feeling, but it was something he could not scratch away, something underneath the skin. He kept asking me to punch his leg with a 5-pound dumbbell. He wakes up twice or three times per night. He puts some hard things under his leg, and put press on it. He does it almost every night. He can't get enough sleep.
Avatar f tn After visiting with the doctor yesterday due to a sinus infection I decided to confess to her about my headaches. :) Headaches that start behind my left eye, always the left. After several of these headaches, starting about 10 years ago, I finally found that Benedryl with a decongestant takes care of it. However, the longer I wait to take the Benedryl the longer it takes to get it under control. So then it radiates to the back of my head and into my shoulder.
Avatar f tn s the singulair. My 7 year old son was put on it for his asthma and hay fever/ allergies. For the few months he was on it he ended up in hospital twice because his asthma got so bad (he'd never been hospitalised before). His behaviour changed dramatically both at home and school - he was constantly angry, reactive and very often explosive and he began uncharacteristic physical risk-taking. He experienced aches and pains in his arms and legs which he'd never had before.
Avatar f tn i have taken my inhaler a lot and that stops my wheezing but is it safe for the baby for me to be taking the inhaler this much?
