Singulair for cat allergies

Common Questions and Answers about Singulair for cat allergies

singulair

Avatar m tn I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.
Avatar f tn I currently take Xyzal and Nasacort for allergies and medication for asthma (Singulair and Symbicort). I'm also taking allergy shots for cat dander and grass pollens. When I go running by wooded areas I get a horrible runny nose. My runny nose goes away about 10-15 minutes after I get inside from my run. I'm wondering if it could be from allergies or if it could be from something else. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I take it for allergies. I also have been taking zyrtek along with it because of my allergies being so bad.
Avatar f tn From your message, you appear to have an intolerance to the so-called non-sedating anti-histamines but hopefully will be able to take Singulair; it is a good drug for nasal allergies and also, for a fair number of people, effective treatment for asthma. And it is safe, not a cause of significant liver disease, and not associated with other side effects, deemed serious. To the best of our current knowledge, the long term use of a nasal steroid, as directed, does not pose a problem.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Singulair for a few months now and I haven't noticed any negative side effect. I take it along with a daily inhaler for my asthma and it really has helped me a lot.
Avatar m tn Have they tried and/or maybe ask your Dr about Singulair which now is FDA approved for allergies, too ... that helped both my daughters a lot with the severe turbinate swelling that was revealed on my dd's CT Scan. Also the nasal steroid sprays helped, too. But finding the trigger is the most important part. Even if you kitty finds a temporary home, his/her dander is still in the carpet but you can see if it iminimizes things by maybe finding her a vacation home for a few weeks ..
Avatar m tn It blocks the activity of undesirable leukotrienes , produced by the body, that cause the symptoms you describe. It is often helpful for the treatment of nasal allergies, its biologic action different than that of antihistamines and inhaled nasal steroids but its actions often complementary to these drugs. It is often effective for the symptoms you describe.
460830 tn?1347219306 Singulair could cause depression & suicide for some people that used it.
Avatar n tn Still recovering from severe acute bronchitis that lasted 3 months (started mid-October 08), I am now living cat-free and taking all my meds. For eighteen years I lived in the vicinity of an outdoor cat, smoked periodically (last puff 5.5 years ago) and suffered what I considered to be mild asthma. I used albuterol about 1/day (usually just one puff) because of feelings of tightness at the top of my bronchi.
Avatar f tn I find that just taking medications when needed is not really managing my asthma.
Avatar m tn i just wanted to post a warning to other parents. my son was on singulair for over 3 years. he was taking the drug for treatment of mild asthma and allergies. he suffered from undetected side effects for 3 years. the side effects were sneaky and subtle and i did not pick up on the cause. at the age of 7, his physician increased his dosage to 5mg due to his age. after that increase, his side effects became loud and clear.
4178478 tn?1350667364 I take Zyrtec for my allergies and Singulair as needed. But Singulair is a script.
Avatar n tn I was advair, ventolin, atrovent, singulair, antihistamines you name it. I was starting to get my allergies under control so I was still getting symptoms from the leftover inflammation and gunk left in my lungs but the typical "asthma twitchiness" wasn't there. This led the pulmonalogist to say I didn't have asthma. He left me with my ventolin prescription and lots of refills, few refills for the advair inhaler but said to try and reduce it.
Avatar f tn Sooo.
1135961 tn?1279145314 Thank you very much for your response. I made an appointment with a specailist to see what he says. I think maybe your right about the allergies, because I seem to always get these attacks when Im at home. I vacume everyday , and use a humindifier. Would it help to take claritine ? A friend told me to get a purifier ? Does that help?
Avatar n tn My nose had a bad reaction to the nasal spray the one time I tried it - it became very congested and I was sneezing for an hour. I have been taking Singulair (prescribed by my PMD) for the past week and it has helped a little but not as much as I expected (Still congested at night). Also, I haven't been able to wear my contact lenses for the past 3 weeks. At first it was because of itchy eyes but now they're just very dry.
365714 tn?1292199108 t let the doctor blame this on allergies without checking out other causes. If it does wind up diagnosed as allergies, there's lots of good meds out there. Zyrtec is over the counter-works great. Singulair is another good drug-prescription and also works great!
1756384 tn?1312562154 Even though I vacuum and dust continually!, cat hair gets up my nose, in my throat and "jumps" on my legs, makes me itch on my face and also seems to cause my itching uinder my breast area, around where my underwear where it is tight around the creases of my skin( inside thigh area for example). It also makes my mood suck! I have been on Singulair for one week. daily saline nose rinses, veramist nose spray. It seemed to help a little bit but now not much.
Avatar n tn My son was born 9-10-99, 2 dys overdue 10#3oz, 221/4", 6/6 g/p, uneventful preg, long labor-no drugs, vaginal. Very blue/bruising fr chest up. Pyloric Stenosis, trachelmylasia @ 3wks. Sick again @ 6mos, "malnutrition" according to Dr; "High salt levels, no other explanation". (Dropped that Dr like a freaking hot potato). Lots of resp problems/illnesses; hx of rsv, bronchitis, pneum. Slow to make milestones, weight/height always really good.
Avatar n tn He occasionally has a cough in the morning but nothing at night, and nothing during the rest of the day. He is off the nebulizers for now and is staying on his singulair. Am I missing something w/the dark circles? Any thoughts on why they're not going away?
Avatar n tn After a few days, those went away, but then my throat started hurting even worse than before. So, for a third time I went to the doctor and got tested for mono and strep A. I tested positive for mono, but negative for strep A. I then took two weeks off from work and school to sleep and be a couch potato. The soreness went away, but the swollen tonsils and congestion didn't.
Avatar n tn My allergiest prescribed Singulair for my season allergies not for PLE. But trust me it works! I have suffered with this for 20 years. Good luck!
Avatar n tn ve been on Advair since Sept 2007 with ZERO side effects. I used Zyrtac for my allergies. The pollen in Atlanta really aggravated my asthma when exercising outside, so my Doctor put my on Singulair. After two doses I'm itchy all over, including the groin! I'm going to stop taking the Singulair - these side effects aren't worth it!
Avatar f tn I take zyrtec, singulair, flonase and astepro for the allergies and sinus. My ENT is stumped. How can I get my taste and smell back?
Avatar f tn I take singulair and doxepin perscribed by my allergist to control hives. I sometimes breakout with red pimple sores that hurt. A medical friend said the sores look like spider bites, but I'm sure they aren't. Can either singulair or doxepincause this reaction, and if so, what can I do for the sores short of not taking the medicine. Benidryl and oether similar medicines do not control my hives.
Avatar f tn I've been getting sick with a cold just about once a month for the past 6 months. My doctor told me it's because my asthma and allergies are not under control. I was on Advair for a few months, and they switched me to Asmanex because I was still getting frequent coughs. I'm on Zyrtec for allergies. I haven't been to an allergist yet to see what I'm allergic to (have an appointment coming up).
Avatar m tn But I do believe they are allowed up to 400ug/day safely before any side effects become apparent, such as slowed growth. Does he have a lot of air born allergies? Allergy shots really worked well for my daughter with her allergy/asthma symptoms. It's better then over medicating them. Plus the child is much happier with less symptoms plaguing them. Depending on how old he is, but he might be ok. with getting shots every week. I started my daughter on them when she was 9 years old.
Avatar f tn I am a mother of a 26 year daughter who recently pulled the plug on taking a daily dose of Singulair (it was generic) after over a year. It was used as a maintenance treatment for chronic allergies and sinus infections. Seemed to work ok, however in the 6 months there had been a couple times she rushed herself to the doctor for symptoms that no one even thought to suspect the allergy medication. First there was numbing and tingling in her arms.
Avatar f tn Yes actually. I have a degree in Holistic Health, and I specialized in Asian Healing Arts. I've been taking Yang Rong Wan for the past three weeks to help streangthen my body after it's prolonged sicknesses and have noticed a change in the force and amount of coughing that I have. Also, my energy has returned allowing me to go about my day as I did before I got sick. Unfortunatey I don't live in an area that believes in Holistic Health.
