Avatar n tn Implant can be used for your breast reconstruction. You should ask your plastic surgeon for the type of implant to be used for breast reconstruction. There should be an acceptable cosmetic outcome after the reconstruction. Take care.
7928796 tn?1396351929 Its really different for everyone... I know one woman who breast fed three babies a year a piece with implants and I know another that breast fed her first, got implants and couldn't breast feed her second or third...
Avatar n tn If I were to have a mastectomy, since I weigh only 115 lbs, how would it be done? I think I'm too thin for the stomach muscle type (tramflap). There's not much available on my derriere either. Do surgeons ever maintain your breast skin, removing the tissue underneath and then put in the implant? I would think this could be done as an ina dn out procedure and look okay. Has anyone had this doen?
Avatar f tn Actually, if your nipple still has feeling, the chance are high. Breast augmentation (breast implants) isn't a reason alone not to be able to produce breast milk. Most likely, it depends on the kind of surgery you had, but most approaches are compatible with breastfeeding. Incisions made under the fold of the breast or through the armpit shouldn't cause any trouble. A "Smile" incision around the areola increase your risks of breastfeeding complications.
Avatar f tn This includes for saline or silicone breast implants. What type do you have? If they are saline, leaking implants are not a risk. And currently, saline implants are what is typically used. Is one breast or both changing in size? That's another way to know if there is an issue with the implant. Do you feel any lumps? Do you do regular breast exams? There is one type of breast plant that has recently been linked to cancer which involves implants that have a textured surface.
Avatar f tn I prefer breast implants to be placed under the muscle. I have very little breast tissue and have heard that people with no breast tissue or little breast tissue will get better results if the implants are placed under the muscle. And I will most probably be getting implants within couple of months. I have already talked to a surgeon Dr. Robert Backstein of Steeles Avenue Cosmetic Surgery Clinic in Toronto, but haven't confirmed of getting the surgery.
Avatar n tn Thank you both for all of your input, I am so confused. You read and hear so many bad things about the silicone, and how the saline is so much better for you if there is a rupture. I am a diabete and I am just trying to make sure that I do not cause any more problems for my self.. Even my PS said maybe the saline would be better for you, but then I read and hear how they never feel natural.
Avatar f tn i had stage 1 breast cancer diagnosed Dec 2008, in both breasts resulting in a double masectomy. I have gone through implants and nipple reconstruction. last week i had one breast very tender, red and feverish. I went to my surgeon yesterday. She sent me for a sonogram and now I'm scheduled for a MRI tomorrow. Anyone ever have a situation like this? I was hoping it was an abscess, but now worried it could be return of cancer. I hear there is one breast cancer with these symptoms.
Avatar f tn One of my old friends had breast implants, now she is on her 4th.
Avatar f tn You should not have gone for breast implants. See, not everyone are good candidates for breast implants. The surgeon will conduct some physical examinations and then only he allows you to get breast implants. I think you were not a good candidate. It might be the problem while conducting the above mentioned physical examinations that made you a good candidate. A dear friend of mine has had breast augmentation few years back.
Avatar n tn Thanks ladies for responding. @Amy1830 see I was a small A before implants and went up to a D I'm 33w1d and my cup size has not change much during pregnancy still wearing the same bra of D or Dd for extra support that's why I feel like I'm not producing milk what's so ever.
Avatar n tn I have had saline implants for 5 years now, they were put under the muscle. sometimes I get little twiches or small pains that really don't last, I haven't gotton checked and I'm worried something could be wrong! Could something serious be going on? the real reason I haven't gotton checked is because I am scared to know something could be wrong! on the other hand I can't do it financially so I guess I use that as an excuse to not get checked! can somebody advise! thank you!

Avatar f tn The problem with surgery for capsule contracture associated with breast implants, is that it is impossible to predict the success of the procedure. In many cases, removal or partial removal of the scar tissue with or without implant repositioning, will result in soft symmetrical breasts. However, there is a real risk that capsule formation will recur. Removal of the implants will completely eliminate the problem since the scar tissue is reacting to the implants.
Avatar f tn If you have breast implants, you should continue to have mammograms as recommended by your doctor, because implants can hide some breast tissue, making it more difficult for the radiologist to detect an abnormality on the mammogram. Some breast tissue (approximately 25%) will not be seen on the mammogram,as it will be covered up by the implants.
