Common Questions and Answers about Singulair dosage by weight

singulair

Avatar m tn i just wanted to post a warning to other parents. my son was on singulair for over 3 years. he was taking the drug for treatment of mild asthma and allergies. he suffered from undetected side effects for 3 years. the side effects were sneaky and subtle and i did not pick up on the cause. at the age of 7, his physician increased his dosage to 5mg due to his age. after that increase, his side effects became loud and clear.
Avatar n tn 2 years ago he was put on Advair disk inhaler, Singulair, and Allegra D as his regimen. After about a month he started having a problem with his legs and groin itching. He took himself off the Singulair as that is what he decided was the problem. He has gotten by with just the Advair inhaler. In the past month he's really been struggling with breathing problems.
3244521 tn?1346861134 6 mo. ago, I was diagnosed with T2 Diabetes. There's no history of it in my family. I'm 23 and have 1 child. I'm very active I run 3-5 miles a day . I do have asthma controlled, by albuteral inhalers, and Qvar steriod inhalers, aswell as taking Singulair each day. I also have Dysthymic which I take Effexor XR 150mg each day. I'm 4'10" & 98 lbs. I'm a strict Vegetarian.
Avatar f tn I have alot to say about Singulair but none of it is good, unfortunately. My son was on Singulair for 3 yrs. I finally recognized the side effects he was having and discontinued. He suffered from leg pain, stomach pain, irritability, anxiety, quick to tears, easily frustrated and excessively fearful. At the age of 7, his dosage was increased to 5mg. At that point, it became very clear he was suffering side effects. All of the side effects I mentioned above were multipled x 10.
460830 tn?1347219306 What was the problem with Singulair a while back? I heard something about it, but I never heard what the problem was with it.
Avatar m tn It causes asthma (Arizona Cypress, Mesquite and Palo Verde are the culprits.) Singulair has helped me very successfully in the past. However, I also take a very low dose blood pressure medication (Lisinopril 20mg). I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.
920032 tn?1550680156 lately my overnight breathing is causing me problems. i asked my gp for singulair but she prescribed atrovent. it does get mucus up but i am waking to cough it up. i have excersize induced asthma. it was on this site that i heard about singulair.
Avatar m tn If that is Singulair you are asking about, I see no info suggesting that as a side effect. If you are taking thyroid med, I suspect that the effects of hypothyroidism or related low ferritin are the most likely causes for hair loss. If you will please tell us about any other symptoms you have, and also post your thyroid related test results and reference ranges shown on the lab report, we will be better able to assess your situation.

Avatar f tn Has anyone heard that the dosage is based on your weight? My numbers are perfect, according to the doctor, however, I am always tired, have reflux problems that the gastro doesn't understand why, I am constantly having hard stools, not gaining or losing weight, and getting very frustrated. I keep thinking I need my dosage raised but no one will listen to me. Am I thinking the right way or not? Help! Need your advise.
Avatar f tn My Dr has recommended I try singualr along with Allegra and flonase. He had told me the SIngulair will not make me feel funny, cause anxiety or heart palps etc...yet I see there are a lot of negative side effects. Does anyone have any experience on this medicine or just how safe it is?
Avatar n tn t further adjusted by weight, but by lab vales and, most of all, symptoms. Or I should say, it should be adjusted by FT3, FT4 levals and symptoms.
486038 tn?1300063367 My mom is concerned about pnemonia too and wanted them to do an xray as well, especially with that pain in my back when I breathe (course with a cough like this), but they chose to throw a bunch of these meds at it... so far it's all ......cough, cough, cough........ My PCP has me coming back in on Monday, before I fly out Tuesday. As far as the cortisone shot (no clue on the dosage, did not have the brains to ask...
Avatar n tn When taking thyroid med, TSH should never by used to diagnose your status and your med dosage. If you will click on my name and then scroll down to my Journal you will find a link to a paper : Managing the Total Thyroid Process:. In the paper there is a graph of TSH and FT4 which shows that TSH cannot be used to reliably estimate a patient's Free T4 level (or Free T3). TSH also does not correlate with hypo symptoms .
370736 tn?1247242917 I have asthma and use inhaler (long acting and short acting) and Singulair. My pulmonary doc and OB said they're fine to use in pregnancy. I have been using my inhaler a lot more during pregnancy and I'm pretty sure it's because we are now breathing for 2 and our blood flow (which carries oxygen) is going for 2.
Avatar m tn Singulair is a must and is taken in the evening,it helps me.Also,Advair taken in the morning and evening depending on dosage, its an inhaled type of steroid.Like prednisone, without all the yucky side affects.Licorice root found at health food stores also helps,it also comes in syrup form.Black coffee also can stop an asthma attack if caught early enough.Be careful with the licorice root,as it can cause high blood pressure if taken to much.
1580703 tn?1651904887 at what dosage dose and length of time does prednisone cause brain damage and memory problems, thinking problems? thanks!
1580703 tn?1651904887 I've been on symbicort/proventil and singulair for months and I'm still having trouble breathing, chest tightness, exhaustion- I went through 2 courses of prednisone and methylprinosolone a few months ago
1580703 tn?1651904887 I'm thinking of going with higher doses of singulair? like what is the max dosage 20mg/day? can lisinopril improve oxygenation to your body and brain?
Avatar m tn I am concerned about the weight gain everyone talks about.
Avatar m tn He stopped taking Singulair in Nov.2013, but his muscle problems remained. I am not 100% sure whether it was caused by Singulair and if yes how long he will have to wait until the effect is gone. Could this be Churg-Strauses? As parents, we are VERY worried. He needs sleep. He used to play sports, just like other boys, but now he can't do anything. He is tired all the time. Could you please contact me at ***@**** if you have any info? Please help save my son!
Avatar n tn He has always had large size pupils. The other night his pupils were pulsing from large to regular size. He is also getting over a cold at this time. I know for a fact that he doesnt do drugs, so it couldnt be that. He did have seizures when he was around 2 they lasted for about 4 months, then went away as suddenly as they started, doctors had no clue what the cause was. Is this a sign of maybe the seizure activity trying to start back up?
Avatar m tn My son was diagnosed with asthma when he was 3. He takes singulair, flonaise, zyrtec, and pulmicort through a nebulizer twice a day on a daily basis. He has been through so much in his last year and a half. I just put him in play school and on his first day I can tell that the air conditioner is triggering his asthma. He began wheezing that night. And now two days later he has a full blown cold and I am doing albuterol around the clock.
1154802 tn?1266485720 I do not think alot of doctors keep patients on this-your steroid inhaler and maybe using Singulair should help.. I would ask about Singulair. You also need to see an actual asthma doctor (pulmonary doctor) if you're not already.
Avatar f tn ive always had asthma but it has been controlled by singulair. i rarely ever have to take my inhaler. now that im pregnant it some how triggered my asthma and singulair isnt helping at all. i have taken my inhaler a lot and that stops my wheezing but is it safe for the baby for me to be taking the inhaler this much?
