singulair

Avatar f tn My 5 yr old son has a chronic wet cough. It started in Sept. In November the pediatrian said he had a sinus infection. The next day he was throwing up and with fever. His office kept telling me to give it 72 hours. I ended going to urgent care. They did an xray and said he had pnemonia. That was 4 months ago. All the other symptoms have gone away but this cough. Doesn't cough at night anymore. It's not like he coughs all the time but when he does it's always wet sounding. No phlem.

Avatar n tn My 8 year old has had a croupy sounding cough for 3 months, with NO other cold symptoms. She doesn't ususally cough, but when she does, it sounds like a barking seal. She does cough after heavy exercise and sometimes feels "like somebody is squeezing my lungs." Her allergy test was negative. The breathing test (spirometer) was "fine." Chest x-rays show some inflamation in the lungs. Her Pulmonary dr.

Avatar f tn I have always had difficulty breathing in high humidity. My doctor told me that I am most likely allergic to mold, and the humidity is causing this to be worse. I have been prescribed an albuterol inhaler, and usually only have to use it about 3 weeks out of the year. Otherwise, I take Singulair year round. This year the humidity is especially high. I have had trouble breathing for over a month now.
Avatar n tn The doctors are right in diagnosing and treating her as bronchial asthma with steroids ,bronchodilators and singulair(montelukast). It usually takes some time for the cough to settle down.Pls make sure that you adequately reassure your daughter as it may take some time for the cough to go.The pain in the neck and upper body is probably because of strain/injury to the muscles because of repeated coughing. It will go away only with cough.
Avatar f tn Urgent care doc gave me a trial of Singulair (10 mcg for 3-month) and started feel less cough, chest tight (now use 2-4 puffs per month) and tickle, but still feel a bit congested. In Aug, my PCP referred me to ENT and suggested to add Astelin for treating me persistent rhinitis. I did an allergy blood test for 13 kinds of environmental allergen but it’s negative. I did ask my PCP if I am having asthma. She said it’s only an allergy.
Avatar n tn re just not going away even though his symptoms have. He occasionally has a cough in the morning but nothing at night, and nothing during the rest of the day. He is off the nebulizers for now and is staying on his singulair. Am I missing something w/the dark circles? Any thoughts on why they're not going away?
Avatar m tn By Cingular, do you mean Singulair? I used it for a while and, if I remember correctly, I found it drying. Ask your doctor if that is what is causing the cough.
Avatar f tn I have an appointment in 2 weeks with my primary doctor, but I was prescribed these medications by a different doctor who was filling in... albuterol (the emergency inhaler), Singulair (I take 10mg once every night), and one puff twice a day of Dulera with a chamber (I always rinse afterwards). It seems like a lot of meds. I’ve been on Singulair and albuterol for a few weeks, and I’ve been taking Dulera for about a week now.
Avatar n tn Hi, the other causes for long term cough besides asthma are GERD and post nasal drip from allergies. GERD is gastro esophageal reflux disease where the stomach acids come back into the esophagus and spill into the windpipe causing cough. Treatment with antacids will help neutralize the acids. Post nasal drips can occur with sinusitis and throat infections. Giving up cigarettes will abolish smoker's cough in 90% of people.
Avatar m tn the aciphex has helped w/ the coughing some, but i still cough a good bit...sometimes to the point of dizziness. If I laugh, I cough. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn The ER Dr said that I had severely strained muscles and a lung infection according to the xray. Possibly the start of bronchitis. I have had NO cough this whole time. Went to urgent care 1 week later and the Dr said I just needed physical therapy. I finally got in to see my regular Dr 2 days ago. She gave me more steroids, antibiotics, and singulair for the shortness of breath. I am still feeling bad and have shortness of breath.
Avatar f tn I have had a tightness in my chest and in my back along with a dry cough that doesnt go away. I am not producing phlegm with the cough,it is a dry cough. Sometimes I feel like I cant breathe deeply. When I laugh I feel out of breath and usually the coughing begins. I dont have any wheezing. Could this be asthma?
Avatar f tn I have had repeat sinus infections, I had sinus surgery 4 years ago and that seemed to really improve the sinus infections but I still get bronchitis several (2-3) times a year, last month I was diagnosed with pnemonia (this is the second time I have had it in the last 5 years) I had no idea, just a lingering annoying cough, I even ran a 10 mile run with it and felt fine, they started me on antibiotics because my Dr. didnt like how my cough sounded.
Avatar f tn My 5 year old has had a nagging, constant cough for almost 1 month. I can see it in his face that he is tired of all the coughing. The doctor has given me 2 kinds of cough medications, and neither of them seems to help. He did mention that he wanted to diagnose asthma, but he didn't because he did not hear any "wheazing". Not sure what to do next??? This discussion is related to Constant Dry Cough.
Avatar f tn I have a persistent cough for 5 months now. I sought the help of a pulmonologist, had X-rays twice the results were essentially normal chest xray and a tuberculin test which was read as positive by my doctor. Generally, I am aware that Filipinos are positive to mantoux test but I nevertheless, agreed that I am Tb positive because of my persistent cough.
460830 tn?1347219306 What was the problem with Singulair a while back? I heard something about it, but I never heard what the problem was with it.
Avatar m tn i just wanted to post a warning to other parents. my son was on singulair for over 3 years. he was taking the drug for treatment of mild asthma and allergies. he suffered from undetected side effects for 3 years. the side effects were sneaky and subtle and i did not pick up on the cause. at the age of 7, his physician increased his dosage to 5mg due to his age. after that increase, his side effects became loud and clear.
Avatar f tn My Dr has recommended I try singualr along with Allegra and flonase. He had told me the SIngulair will not make me feel funny, cause anxiety or heart palps etc...yet I see there are a lot of negative side effects. Does anyone have any experience on this medicine or just how safe it is?
Avatar m tn It causes asthma (Arizona Cypress, Mesquite and Palo Verde are the culprits.) Singulair has helped me very successfully in the past. However, I also take a very low dose blood pressure medication (Lisinopril 20mg). I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.
212161 tn?1599427282 Another possibility is that you may have whooping cough and, with that, a person may cough for 6 months or more. It is no longer uncommon for an adult to have whooping cough. You might want to ask your doctor about that. You are feeling miserable now, but given time, you will get over this illness. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I had asthma as a child and the doctor has put me on two inhalers, a corticosteroid and albuterol, and Singulair. It hasn't helped. Now, to add to the coughing spasms, I have begun burping with them. I never burp anything up, there is no sore throat or burning, and their is no productivity to my cough. Sometimes I feel like there is "something down there" but nothing comes up. I had a CT of my chest a couple of days ago and am waiting to hear the results.
Avatar f tn Hello, my husband is 45 and in over all good physical and mental health. He developed a cough that won't go away. He feels a tickle in the back of his throat and he has to cough. He coughs constantly. The only time he has relief is when he sleeps at night. He was told he has mild GERD and has tried about 4 acid reflux medicines that don't stop the cough, and he doesn't have any heartburn.. However, his vocal chords are a little inflamed.
