Singulair blood pressure

Common Questions and Answers about Singulair blood pressure

singulair

Avatar m tn Blood pressure medications work by reducing the ability of the heart to inclrease blood pressure in an emergency. Blood pressure rises as a compensatory reaction when there is an asthmatic attack. As long as it does not progress to the point where there is an acute hypertensive crisis, short periods of elevated blood pressure during an asthmatic attack may mean the difference between living and dying. Despite this fact, many physicians routinely prescribe blood pressure meds to asthmatics.
460830 tn?1347219306 Singulair is a leukotriene (loo-koe-TRY-een) inhibitor. Leukotrienes are chemicals your body releases when you breathe in an allergen (such as pollen). These chemicals cause swelling in your lungs and tightening of the muscles around your airways, which can result in asthma symptoms. Singulair is used to prevent asthma attacks in adults and children as young as 12 months old. It is also used to relieve runny nose and sneezing caused by allergies in adults and children as young as 6 months old.
Avatar f tn I know of one person who had blood pressure changes/problems while on singulair or the combination of singulair and something together at the same time. Either way blood pressure did not return to normal until they discontinued cingulair and it worked out of their system. I wonder if a change in BP may have added to this side effect? This could have been an isolated side effect, dunno. Just wondering if her BP and pulse was normal while on cingulair?
Avatar n tn I am a 50 yr old female,5’4”, 139 lbs, regular blood pressure and no known ailments. I started having an ear problem 3 weeks ago. 4/29/20 Late at night to hear a whooshing sound in my left ear as if I had a my ear next to dishwasher (I now know this is called pulsatile tinnitus). I went to bed and then got up an hour later and I was felling a bit dizzy. 4/30/20 I wake up and the room is swirling furiously around me counterclockwise.
Avatar n tn I see many folks are experiencing side effects from Singulair. So am I ... I think. I was taking Singulair for just 5 days for and upper respiratory cold and began having tingling and numbness in my extremities. I stopped immediately. My question is, after eliminating all other possible causes (through a number of tests including MRIs, blood work, metals testing) with my doctor, I still have numbness, tingling and burning taking place in my legs and arms for 3 months now.
370736 tn?1247242917 I have asthma and use inhaler (long acting and short acting) and Singulair. My pulmonary doc and OB said they're fine to use in pregnancy. I have been using my inhaler a lot more during pregnancy and I'm pretty sure it's because we are now breathing for 2 and our blood flow (which carries oxygen) is going for 2.
Avatar n tn Claritin makes me light headed for 30 minutes, raises blood pressure a little but wears off after a few hours. Clarinex works better for me, lasts 14 hours on me. Both are pretty weak for antihistamines. Other than this there is a couple more that use the same med as Claritin, so same effect pretty much. The other antihistamines usually cause drowsyness. Don't know of too many nasal sprays with out steroids.
Avatar m tn i just wanted to post a warning to other parents. my son was on singulair for over 3 years. he was taking the drug for treatment of mild asthma and allergies. he suffered from undetected side effects for 3 years. the side effects were sneaky and subtle and i did not pick up on the cause. at the age of 7, his physician increased his dosage to 5mg due to his age. after that increase, his side effects became loud and clear.
Avatar f tn My Dr has recommended I try singualr along with Allegra and flonase. He had told me the SIngulair will not make me feel funny, cause anxiety or heart palps etc...yet I see there are a lot of negative side effects. Does anyone have any experience on this medicine or just how safe it is?

Avatar n tn 2 years ago he was put on Advair disk inhaler, Singulair, and Allegra D as his regimen. After about a month he started having a problem with his legs and groin itching. He took himself off the Singulair as that is what he decided was the problem. He has gotten by with just the Advair inhaler. In the past month he's really been struggling with breathing problems.
Avatar f tn (He is also on Singulair, Albuterol, Advair, and blood pressure medication. He has been on albuterol since he was a baby. He has been on the blood pressure medication for more than a year. They started him on Advair and Singulair in January, blaming his problems on his weight and asthma. If it is the asthma and coughing making him sick, why isn't he coughing or wheezing. We have dealt with asthma and coughing induced vomitting in the past but this is a whole other issue!
Avatar m tn Singulair is a must and is taken in the evening,it helps me.Also,Advair taken in the morning and evening depending on dosage, its an inhaled type of steroid.Like prednisone, without all the yucky side affects.Licorice root found at health food stores also helps,it also comes in syrup form.Black coffee also can stop an asthma attack if caught early enough.Be careful with the licorice root,as it can cause high blood pressure if taken to much.

Avatar n tn I have been taking singulair for a couple of years now and have all of a sudden developed a head tremor.
Avatar f tn is there another medicine similar to singulair that doesn't have the bad side effects
Avatar n tn My 38 yr. old physically fit, normal weight, cardio and wight lifting, motorcross racing husband has been short of breath for a few years. This has not actually been diagnosed as asthma, but he takes singulair and albuterol prn. It tends to be seasonal or related to air quality. Additionally, blood pressure has been in the 140's/80's. So not extremely high. He also takes weight lifting supplements (no steroids).
Avatar n tn The main symptom is a sensation of fullness/pressure in both ears which frustrates me and causes me to regularly be trying to find relief by moving my jaw, performing the valsalva maneuver etc. I first mentioned this to my doctor almost 4 months ago. He looked in my ears to confirm there was no wax build up and noticed that there was signs of fluid in my middle ear.
Avatar m tn My son started taking Singulair in Oct.2012, and then he started complaining about his leg, some kind of weird sensation. He called itchy feeling, but it was something he could not scratch away, something underneath the skin. He kept asking me to punch his leg with a 5-pound dumbbell. He wakes up twice or three times per night. He puts some hard things under his leg, and put press on it. He does it almost every night. He can't get enough sleep.
Avatar f tn I have alot to say about Singulair but none of it is good, unfortunately. My son was on Singulair for 3 yrs. I finally recognized the side effects he was having and discontinued. He suffered from leg pain, stomach pain, irritability, anxiety, quick to tears, easily frustrated and excessively fearful. At the age of 7, his dosage was increased to 5mg. At that point, it became very clear he was suffering side effects. All of the side effects I mentioned above were multipled x 10.
Avatar m tn Long story....but, I have shortness of breath and a feeling of pressure on my chest along with sporadic itching and skin crawling feeling. No rash. I have had all allergy skin and blood tests (with the exception of the dermo patch test)and chest xrays which were all negative. I take zytec and singulaire and have had 3 steroid shots this calendar year. Heat and humidity seem to bring out the symptoms. I am trying to determine possible causes. Can you please assist?
Avatar f tn I take singulair and doxepin perscribed by my allergist to control hives. I sometimes breakout with red pimple sores that hurt. A medical friend said the sores look like spider bites, but I'm sure they aren't. Can either singulair or doxepincause this reaction, and if so, what can I do for the sores short of not taking the medicine. Benidryl and oether similar medicines do not control my hives.
