Singulair and sore throat

Common Questions and Answers about Singulair and sore throat

singulair

Avatar n tn I've been waking up for about 8 months straight with a sore throat and itchy ears. I went and seen a doctor about this and was told I have allergies, I was perscribed the generic for singulair for 10 days, and zyrtec for about 2 weeks to see if I got better. I opted to take the medicine at night (tonight)...and i can't sleep and my throat is so dry even after water. I really dis like medicine...I get anxious...what are some other options to feel better?... HELP!
Avatar f tn I take singulair and doxepin perscribed by my allergist to control hives. I sometimes breakout with red pimple sores that hurt. A medical friend said the sores look like spider bites, but I'm sure they aren't. Can either singulair or doxepincause this reaction, and if so, what can I do for the sores short of not taking the medicine. Benidryl and oether similar medicines do not control my hives.
Avatar m tn 2) I can feel phlegm in my throat, it kind of gives me a strange sore throat feeling. This is the LEAST irritating symptom. I just cough it up. 3) the worst thing; my eyes. It's like they don't want to open? They're burning and watery. They feel puffy, like they're bulging out of their sockets. I can't really see anything when I finally drag myself to the bathroom. I got a ctscan for my ent, but wanted more than one opinion.
Avatar f tn Since March, I have been getting sick with cold/flu symptoms (fever, aches, congestion, cough, stuffy nose, sore throat, nausea) almost every month. I had a chest x-ray, and it showed nothing. I took antibiotics,, but they did not help. I am seeing an allergist in a few weeks. I started taking Zyrtec a few weeks ago. I take multivitamins daily, and flax oil supplements. I have tried green tea, grape seed extract, zinc and echinacea. I do mild exercise regularly and eat fairly well.

Avatar m tn hav been taking singulair for 3 years. Cramps in fingers, throat and leg occured common. Shoulders drooped. Standing and sitting posture gone really bad. Extreme tiredness 24X7. Always thirsty even after gulping bottles of water. Inactive physically and mentally. Become even more inferior in social gatherings and activities. Can't even meet minimum commitments and thus affects career and personal, family relationships. After dropping Everything became normal after 8 - 10 days.
Avatar m tn t get worse either. The doc sees that my throat and nose are slightly inflamed from the inside. This could be either the cause or the result of the post nasal drip. What I would like to know is, anyone familiar with these symptoms? What helped for you? What turned out to be the cause? I'm terrified of hospitals and medical tests so my question is, does this sound like something serious to you? Could these symptoms be caused by benign stuff like allergies?
Avatar f tn The next day my muscles all tightened up and I felt horrible, dry mouth, sore throat, felt like I was stoned, itching. I got off the singulair and haven't been on it for 4 days. I still am having muscular pain and bone pain. I also am thirsty and I have horrible itching. My normal fatigue is 10x worse. I have had swollen lymph nodes for the last 6 months and now they are also burning and itching as a result. Could this still be the singulair?? or Should I assume it is the vitamin D?
Avatar n tn A few months ago, I went to the doctor with a very sore throat and severe congestion. Strep test came back negative, and I have already had mono before. Assuming it was a sinus infection, they prescribed amoxicillin, and that took care of the symptoms in under a week. About two weeks after being off of the amoxicillin, the symptoms began to return. I went back to the doctor and the prescribed some different antibiotic, which again, worked fine.
Avatar n tn The blotchiness (slightly pink, not raised, no sores, etc) had returned, on my torso. My throat, tongue and eyes were normal. The swelling and rash has dissipated slowly throughout the day. I have not changed anything (soaps, shampoo, etc) nor have been exposed to anything abnormal (food or environmental). Any ideas on what this may be???
Avatar n tn Bhupinder Kaur, MD hey i would just like to ask i have an itchy throat and sore throat for 1 year but i doesnt coz pain i have enlarge lympnodes my cbc are ok and normal my hiv test in one year is negative what is this?
Avatar f tn I had asthma as a child and the doctor has put me on two inhalers, a corticosteroid and albuterol, and Singulair. It hasn't helped. Now, to add to the coughing spasms, I have begun burping with them. I never burp anything up, there is no sore throat or burning, and their is no productivity to my cough. Sometimes I feel like there is "something down there" but nothing comes up. I had a CT of my chest a couple of days ago and am waiting to hear the results.
Avatar f tn To answer your question, I'm 27, and I'm allergic to many things. Such as dust, pollens, ragweed, hay, palo verde trees, molds, etc.. I'm also allergic to cat saliva and many foods. I used to take allergy shots, for most of my allergies because I live in one of Arizona's main farming communities. However, I went off them years ago and haven't had many problems since. My doctor gave me an asthma test a month ago and it came out negative.
Avatar f tn For a while I've been needing to "sigh" a lot before I talk, because I feel like once I start I'll run out of air. It was a fairly rare thing that I just got made fun of for. It's been happening more recently, and it feels like my throat and chest is restricting. I've been blaming it on allergies and the fact that I'm pretty much always congested.
Avatar f tn The past few months of sicknesses has been the worst. He was on prednisone 3 more times and still while on Singulair. Now he is on Flovent and Singulair hoping to keep his wheezing under control. But he remains with this wet cough. It's from the asthma. Has your son ever had wheezing? The Singulair is pretty safe although it can have sleeping side effects. We have to give to him at night right b-4 bed or it keeps him up. It has helped, but just not enough.
Avatar f tn I think you posted a long time ago about your son and Singulair. My six year old took Singulair for 2 weeks and develped facial tics, twitches and other odd things. He's now been off for 10 days and we are still seeing it. Neuro appt. this week- so worried. Is your son okay now?
Avatar n tn I get this sometimes. Random, out of the blue. It's almost like my heart flutters and my throat feels weird/tight and I have to cough like I'm being choked. It's bizarre and I just googled 'choking sensation'. Haven't found a cause. I do have allergy related asthma and occasionally use an albuterol inhaler.
Avatar m tn he began to have a facial tic, dilated pupils and hallucinations. i finally got the message and discontinued the singulair after researching the drug on the internet. after 3 weeks, he was like a different child. he was happier and healthier. his fears, anxiety and all the other side effects just disappeared. this drug can have devastating effects and be undetected by parents. children are unable to express the way the drug is making them feel.
920032 tn?1550680156 All those do is dry up the mucous and drainage - post nasal drip. I use it and love it. Singulair is a leukotriine modifier. That is one of the many chemicals involved in allergic reactions. As far as which is better, that would be hard to say. They have totally different purposes. Some people say that Singulair has little effect, while I won't miss a dose without having an attack.
Avatar f tn My Dr has recommended I try singualr along with Allegra and flonase. He had told me the SIngulair will not make me feel funny, cause anxiety or heart palps etc...yet I see there are a lot of negative side effects. Does anyone have any experience on this medicine or just how safe it is?
460830 tn?1347219306 Singulair is a leukotriene (loo-koe-TRY-een) inhibitor. Leukotrienes are chemicals your body releases when you breathe in an allergen (such as pollen). These chemicals cause swelling in your lungs and tightening of the muscles around your airways, which can result in asthma symptoms. Singulair is used to prevent asthma attacks in adults and children as young as 12 months old. It is also used to relieve runny nose and sneezing caused by allergies in adults and children as young as 6 months old.
Avatar m tn It causes asthma (Arizona Cypress, Mesquite and Palo Verde are the culprits.) Singulair has helped me very successfully in the past. However, I also take a very low dose blood pressure medication (Lisinopril 20mg). I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.
Avatar f tn It was then that I researched the side effects of my prescribed drugs and determined that I should stop taking the Singulair. My doctor prescribed a replacement for Singulair, and within a month the numbness went away. Over the past few months I have tried to get back into running. I used to run frequently, always training for a 5k, 10k, or half-marathon, so not sprinting. I have never had a problem with my heart rate or my blood pressure, but now I do.
Avatar n tn I became symptomatic when exercising. My pulmonologist put me on advair bid, singulair qd, (combivent and intal prn and before exercise) Been doing fine, but recently been getting phlemy, and tend to clear the throat quiet a bit. I was thinking I was probably coming down with a cold? I do have a hx of gerd, and I take nexium qd, but one thing that happened since I started taking my asthma meds, it seems my gerd symptoms came back.
1398713 tn?1282046685 Three days after taking Singulair, I developed a fever, sore throat, system wide swollen lymph nodes, sore and aching joints, night sweats and extreme fatigue. I stopped taking them and called the allergist and she said it was a virus and to go back on the Singulair in two weeks (just in case). All symptoms disappeared almost immediately (completely within 2 days).
1154802 tn?1266485720 I also use Symbicort and was using my inhaler quite a bit...every night and 1-3 times during the day. I started taking Singulair a month ago and I don't use my inhaler nearly as much anymore. I've used it 3 times at night in the past month (2 of the times I forgot to take Singulair) and a few random times during the day/evening. Just a thought if you don't already take it and you have allergy issues. Take care.
