Singulair and reflux

Common Questions and Answers about Singulair and reflux

singulair

Avatar n tn 2 years ago he was put on Advair disk inhaler, Singulair, and Allegra D as his regimen. After about a month he started having a problem with his legs and groin itching. He took himself off the Singulair as that is what he decided was the problem. He has gotten by with just the Advair inhaler. In the past month he's really been struggling with breathing problems.
Avatar n tn Her Pulmonary dr. put her on Singulair for a month and gave her an inhaler for emergencies. The Singulair has given her a stomach ache, nausea, for over 2 weeks now. We are waiting on a visit to a different Pulmonologist, as requested by the pediatrician. It doesn't sound like allergies or asthma that I have heard other people describe. Her pediatrician said it could be sinus drip or reflux, yet again she has no other symptoms. Any thoughts?
Avatar m tn t know what else to suggest, other then the key to managing asthma is to control any environmental triggers (allergies), and address any comorbid diseases that will aggravate the asthma, such as reflux disease, and sinusitis.
Avatar f tn I think you posted a long time ago about your son and Singulair. My six year old took Singulair for 2 weeks and develped facial tics, twitches and other odd things. He's now been off for 10 days and we are still seeing it. Neuro appt. this week- so worried. Is your son okay now?
Avatar n tn The reflux can cause airway irritation and definitely allergies and sinusitis (I have it too) wont help. I tried singulair - did absolutely nothing for me, BUT it has lactose in it which is one of my allergies so ..... Ventolin is good to keep around in case of flare ups, you may find you have more problems during a cold, high allergen exposure or if your reflux flares up.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with acid reflux six years ago and after trying Nexium and everything else, I have been taking Omeprazole (Prilosec) twice a day for about 4 years. I've also made ALL of the dietary changes doctors have recommended. I don't smoke or drink, I sleep on a very expensive adjustable bed. Yet... it's obvious that the acid is not under control because when I eat, I get asthma! Now, I've had asthma since I was six, but it would only flare up after a bad cold.
Avatar m tn If it helps, the only medication I take daily is Qvar and a Singulair pill, but those have never caused me problems before my asthma attack in October.
Avatar f tn The lack of these good bacteria can cause many problems like acid reflux and Candida over growth (a yeast infection of the bowel that causes lots of digestive issues). The simple act of eating yogurt or taking a probiotic will prevent many digestive problems associated with taking antibiotics. This is one of two natural medicine treatments that I really believe in. I am very skeptical of every thing else. The other is sinus rinses. I hope that helps you make your decision.

Avatar m tn he began to have a facial tic, dilated pupils and hallucinations. i finally got the message and discontinued the singulair after researching the drug on the internet. after 3 weeks, he was like a different child. he was happier and healthier. his fears, anxiety and all the other side effects just disappeared. this drug can have devastating effects and be undetected by parents. children are unable to express the way the drug is making them feel.
920032 tn?1550680156 All those do is dry up the mucous and drainage - post nasal drip. I use it and love it. Singulair is a leukotriine modifier. That is one of the many chemicals involved in allergic reactions. As far as which is better, that would be hard to say. They have totally different purposes. Some people say that Singulair has little effect, while I won't miss a dose without having an attack.
Avatar f tn My Dr has recommended I try singualr along with Allegra and flonase. He had told me the SIngulair will not make me feel funny, cause anxiety or heart palps etc...yet I see there are a lot of negative side effects. Does anyone have any experience on this medicine or just how safe it is?
460830 tn?1347219306 Singulair is a leukotriene (loo-koe-TRY-een) inhibitor. Leukotrienes are chemicals your body releases when you breathe in an allergen (such as pollen). These chemicals cause swelling in your lungs and tightening of the muscles around your airways, which can result in asthma symptoms. Singulair is used to prevent asthma attacks in adults and children as young as 12 months old. It is also used to relieve runny nose and sneezing caused by allergies in adults and children as young as 6 months old.
Avatar m tn It causes asthma (Arizona Cypress, Mesquite and Palo Verde are the culprits.) Singulair has helped me very successfully in the past. However, I also take a very low dose blood pressure medication (Lisinopril 20mg). I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.
1154802 tn?1266485720 I also use Symbicort and was using my inhaler quite a bit...every night and 1-3 times during the day. I started taking Singulair a month ago and I don't use my inhaler nearly as much anymore. I've used it 3 times at night in the past month (2 of the times I forgot to take Singulair) and a few random times during the day/evening. Just a thought if you don't already take it and you have allergy issues. Take care.
Avatar n tn I will see an allergist and immunologist to address this as I have discussed this with my doctor who thought is acid reflux. I have also seen a ENT and everything is normal. As we are in middle of ragweed season, there are many allergens in the air.
Avatar f tn m at a loss and have no clue where to go from here. I am not satisfied with the diagnosis of reflux and feel the doctors are missing something. Anybody have any similar issues? Any help or advice would be wonderful!!!!
Avatar m tn There are times where I feel like my lungs are tight or have some mucous in them, but when I use my peak flow meter I'm 85%-100% of my personal best. Does anyone else experience this? Does it mean I'm really not having asthma symptoms and should not use my inhaler (although it feels like I should)? Or maybe there's an aspect of my asthma that is not being addressed?
Avatar f tn Hello, I'm a 45 year old man, in pretty good shape. Workout every other day 5'11" 185lbs. History of seasonal allergies and sinsus problems. No history of Asthma. In November 2015, I had a really bad allergic reaction to a coworkers perfume and had a very difficult time recovering from it. In February 2016, my doctor prescribed Advair 250/50, once a day and Singulair 10mg at bedtime.
486038 tn?1300063367 it just makes sense to me with what you have described as your symptoms and the fact that you inhaled the fluids from the reflux. I hope that these meds work but please make sure that your Mom is dilligent in any changes in your symptoms honey...I am worried about you!
Avatar f tn Thats what they are treating me for to acid reflux and they gave me a inhaler as well and as far as the cold air its just colder in the winter and this never really happened like this before. They also said i have a high liver count but don't really know what that means either. So if its the acid then that means its not asthma or is it setting it off worse?
Avatar f tn Around the same time I had stomach problems and was diagnosed with acid reflux. I took meds for several years and then went off when the symptoms went away. Last December, I started having shortness of breath, dizziness, vertigo, and an increase in migraines and headaches. I went to the doctor, and they said I had asthma. A pulmonologist put me on Advair and Prilosec. I went to an ENT for the dizziness, and they found nothing. I had an MRI that was negative.
Avatar f tn He was prescribed neurotin by his neurologist and my immunlogist told me to get him off of the singulair before we gave him the neruotin. He said that the side effect was kind of rare, but possible. Of course we took him off of the singulair, but it hasn't taken the pins and needles away. I hope that he will have some relief at some point. We are planning of giving him the neruontin before the beginning of the school year to take away some of the discomfort. How are you doing now?
1890554 tn?1322678048 Tinkelman, I certainly will take care of the dust in my house and try a mask for protection…. So Celestamine NS and Singulair are not an antihistamine?
Avatar m tn hav been taking singulair for 3 years. Cramps in fingers, throat and leg occured common. Shoulders drooped. Standing and sitting posture gone really bad. Extreme tiredness 24X7. Always thirsty even after gulping bottles of water. Inactive physically and mentally. Become even more inferior in social gatherings and activities. Can't even meet minimum commitments and thus affects career and personal, family relationships. After dropping Everything became normal after 8 - 10 days.
Avatar m tn Thank you for your reply Caryopteris. I have heard of the dairy products contributing to problems like constant throat clearing and I think I will avoid milk for a while and see what happens. This is the first I heard about the Metamucil for reflux. It wouldn't hurt to try that as well. Have a great day.
