Singulair and post nasal drip

Common Questions and Answers about Singulair and post nasal drip

singulair

Avatar m tn m suffering from light headaches (in forehead, but exact location differs a lot), post nasal drip (intensity differs) when I swallow and a very low pitched tinnitus. Although I'm not sure when this low tinnitus started and where it came from. I've Always had Pulsatile Tinnitus which is a bit higher pitched and clearly hums on the rhythm of my heart beat, but that one disappears when I lie down, turn my head to the side or push on my neck arteries.
Avatar m tn There's a lot of things that could be causing post-nasal drip, so it's hard to give decent advice without examination by doctor. If it's an allergy, the most effective meds, according to research, is pseudofed and singulair. Both work differently, so you could try each, seperately. Your phlegm would be clear or light green probably It could be a sinus infection if your phlegm is yellow or darker green.
Avatar n tn I have had post nasal drip as long as I can remember. I am a 52 yr old mail, 5'9", 195lbs. My PND gummed up the back of my throat enough in July of this year to wake me everytime I nod off. I am now on sleep medication, clonazepam, Lunesta, now but which is barely working, Atavan is better and I can sleep but sedatives cannot be taken forever and this PND doesn't seem to be going away.
920032 tn?1550680156 All those do is dry up the mucous and drainage - post nasal drip. I use it and love it. Singulair is a leukotriine modifier. That is one of the many chemicals involved in allergic reactions. As far as which is better, that would be hard to say. They have totally different purposes. Some people say that Singulair has little effect, while I won't miss a dose without having an attack.
Avatar n tn Her Pulmonary dr. put her on Singulair for a month and gave her an inhaler for emergencies. The Singulair has given her a stomach ache, nausea, for over 2 weeks now. We are waiting on a visit to a different Pulmonologist, as requested by the pediatrician. It doesn't sound like allergies or asthma that I have heard other people describe. Her pediatrician said it could be sinus drip or reflux, yet again she has no other symptoms. Any thoughts?

Avatar f tn The other cause is post nasal drip. For some they only get a cough with it and feel nothing else. Most people will feel something dribbling down the backs of their throat. Or they do a lot of throat clearing. There are a variety of causes ranging from rhinitis, sinusitis and GERD (if it aspirates high enough to reach your throat area) The three most common causes for a cough is: asthma, Post nasal drip, and GERD.
Avatar f tn My daughter takes singulair every night and still has asthma and allergies flare ups. Veramyst nasal spray works best for me and nasonex is ok. I don't know which antihistamine medicine works best, I've tried them all too and they all have a side effect,.
Avatar f tn I have tinnitus and post nasal drip. I notice it mostly when I'm home. When I go on vacation the tinnitus is not noticeable and my post nasal drip eases up. Could the these be caused by allergies? Could they be something I'm allergic to either in my home or environment? I have had allergy testing for foods and air borne pollens, etc. I am allergic to dust mites. Could that be a culprit? I live in a fairly dry environment.
Avatar n tn Hi, the other causes for long term cough besides asthma are GERD and post nasal drip from allergies. GERD is gastro esophageal reflux disease where the stomach acids come back into the esophagus and spill into the windpipe causing cough. Treatment with antacids will help neutralize the acids. Post nasal drips can occur with sinusitis and throat infections. Giving up cigarettes will abolish smoker's cough in 90% of people.
Avatar f tn Infected tooth roots from the upper teeth can go inside the maxillary sinus and cause sinusitis. The post nasal drip could be due to this. You might need a CT of the sinuses for more information. However, if you do have an infected tooth, you will still need to have this addressed as dental infections can be potentially life-threatening. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I have post nasal drip and also an upset stomach a lot of the time. When my stomach is sick, the only way to help it feel better is to eat. But then that doesn't last too long. Do you think my upset stomach is de to the dripping? What do you think is the best remedy for this? Thank you - This discussion is related to HELP!! Can Chronic Post Nasal Drip Cause Stomach Problems? Can allergy symptoms change?.
Avatar m tn It could be sinusitis, if it is accompanied by nasal stuffiness and facial pain or pressure. Post nasal drip could also be due to allergens. You will need to consult your primary care physician for proper assessment. In the meantime practice good breathing exercises, humidify your room and do steam inhalations. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I too suffer with awful post nasal drip and also gerd. I take zyrtec and Rhinocort Aqua, it is nasal spray and it does help. I have tried other nasal sprays but this one seems to work the best.

Avatar n tn I have had post-nasal drip/chronic sinusitis/chronic bronchitis for all my very long life. I used to get 2 or three coughs a year that lasted for weeks, sometimes ending in pleurisy. I went to doctors, and eventually had to diagnose my problem myself: my sinuses were dripping down my throat and becoming infected and causing the cough. Eventually I had a CTscan of my sinuses and the official diagnosis: Chronic sinusitis.
Avatar m tn Exposure to allergens causes a runny nose with a resultant post nasal drip where secretions from the nose go backward into the throat and irritate. So, please discuss with your doctor and focus on having the basic cause resolved and if needed consult an allergist. Regards.
Avatar f tn If you have chronic sinusitis then it can lead to continuous production of mucus and less drainage leading to post nasal drip. Transillumination test and X-Ray or CT sinuses can help in diagnosing it. If allergic rhinitis is the cause of PND then it can be diagnosed by skin ***** tests or blood tests like RAST. Take plenty of fluids throughout the day and inhale steam as many times as possible. .
Avatar n tn ME TOO!!! I have battled the PND for years.I have to be really careful not to catch a cold because it can last months and months due to the wonderful enviroment my PND has provided. I would agree that psuedoephidrine is great for drying up and alleviating cough but now available only on script. The TCM equivalent is Ephedra.I have also had some success with clearing the sinuses with acupuncture. It is also definitly worth stopping both dairy and gluten products in the diet .
Avatar f tn Hi, I went to the clinic few days ago and the doc said that I might have post nasal drip because I spit out mucus, stuffy nose,cough,sneeze,....He gave me a nasal spray and said that if it doesn't work come back for allergy testing. How long would it take for this medication to work ? and if this medication doesn't work how many weeks or months should I wait to see the doc ? Thanks He also ask me if I have any allergies but I couldn't answer because I don't know ;0.
Avatar f tn When I went to see the Doctor, they did different tests and diagnosed Post Nasal Drip along with Acid Reflux, I am loads better but nobody seems to be able to give me anything that gets rid of this awful feeling, constantly clearing of the throat and this thick mucus or whatever in the back of my throat. There moan over :) feels better just to write it down. Flossy.
Avatar f tn I'm 14 weeks and the congestion in my nose is terrible. The post nasal drip is making me nauseous! I don't have morning sickness anymore just never ending headaches! When does the congestion usually go away? If it does!!
Avatar f tn Many things can help post nasal drip. you an try OTC decongestants, antihistamines and mucus thinning agents. if it continues I would take russtoo's advice and see your doctor or ENT. Also drink lots of fluids but not caffeinated.
1279667 tn?1271215635 I thank you for all the information you've given on post nasal drip, but my doctor does not think that is what my issue is. Like post nasal drip, it IS worse at night. I cannot drink anything cold. I have become violently lactose intolerant, and my symptoms are worse after eating. I cannot use a nasal spray. At the same time all this started, I also started suffering from panic attacks.
