Common Questions and Answers about Singulair and panic attacks

singulair

Avatar n tn I took Montelukast (Singulair) for about one month and began having extreme nightmares and panic attacks. I stopped the montelukast immediately, and the nightmares stopped. But the panic attacks continue. I know others have had similar reactions, but I wonder if anyone has found out how to make the effects go away? I have been off the medication for over 3 months now.
Avatar f tn I stopped Singulair due to nightmares and panic attacks about 3 months ago. The nightmares are gone but the panic attacks continue. I am managing with accupuncture, supplements and hydroxizine on the real bad nights. I see your post was a few years ago. Do you have any advice? Thank you!

15255345 tn?1439421009 It has been 3 weeks and she is still experiencing the same side effects in waves. Anxiety and panic attacks are immediately brought on by caffeine and sugar. In her case she wants to purge her system of the medication without taking another drug. In our research we have come across some suggestions that you too might consider. Eliminate caffeine , limit sugar to natural sugar and at that eat sparingly. Try eating very clean. Something like the Paleo diet.
460830 tn?1347219306 Singulair is a leukotriene (loo-koe-TRY-een) inhibitor. Leukotrienes are chemicals your body releases when you breathe in an allergen (such as pollen). These chemicals cause swelling in your lungs and tightening of the muscles around your airways, which can result in asthma symptoms. Singulair is used to prevent asthma attacks in adults and children as young as 12 months old. It is also used to relieve runny nose and sneezing caused by allergies in adults and children as young as 6 months old.
Avatar m tn So sorry to hear that. Is he being seen by a pulmonary specialist? Is he taking any sort of preventative medications apart from ventoIin? He obviously needs to have his asthma controlled. I do know that they don't like to over medicate children on steroid puffers. But I do believe they are allowed up to 400ug/day safely before any side effects become apparent, such as slowed growth. Does he have a lot of air born allergies?
Avatar m tn It causes asthma (Arizona Cypress, Mesquite and Palo Verde are the culprits.) Singulair has helped me very successfully in the past. However, I also take a very low dose blood pressure medication (Lisinopril 20mg). I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.
Avatar m tn Hi Nick, In short, anything is possible and many meds mixing together certainly make it harder to know what is doing what. Norvasc appears to be for blood pressure normally and a list of drug interactions can be found here : http://www.rxlist.com/norvasc-drug.htm. I claim no knowledge except of what site to look at for this info. Much of it I wouldn't follow either but it will hopefully mean something to you.
Avatar m tn As, Singulair (montelukast) is used to prevent asthma attacks in adults and children. Singulair 10mg tablets contain the active ingredient montelukast, which is a type of medicine known as a leukotriene receptor antagonist. You may need regular inhaled corticosteroids and short-acting beta agonist such as salbutamol, to relieve your symptoms. Nebulization may help. Sometimes, steroids may be needed to control the symptoms.
10011789 tn?1409704061 Anyone have issues with panic attacks? I had them probably 3 or 4 times in my life and never with my first pregnancy. Now with this one (having twins) I've already had 2 and I'm only 12 weeks. Both my parents take anxiety meds. I never have had to and don't want to but it's kind of scary. I'm never like stressed or thinking about anything at the time. It just suddenly hits me and I can't breath and I feel overwhelmed and trapped.
1979360 tn?1328143865 ve finally been told by myself that i have horrible panic attacks. i hate them, and i do want and need help and a support system.

Avatar f tn I had panic attacks about 20 years ago when I worked with all women who smoked some of them chained smoked and I put it down to secondary smoke my thyroid was perfect at the time but also my job was so stressful our boss used to come in every morning and say there were too many women working and as such that was unproductive hours (worked for a construction company where 99% were men) and that one of us would have to go and he would stand there looking at us as if he was trying to decide which o
461368 tn?1206516757 But our brain and mind knows there is a problem and eventually sends up emergency flares -the panic attacks- and fog horn warnings (the anxiety). Typically, the treatment involves some medication to help the patient be more relaxed and functional. But medication is NOT the cure. The "cure," (defined by ME as the end of significant symptoms and no expectation that they will return) comes about through talk therapy with a psychiatrist or similarly qualified mental health professional.
Avatar n tn Could you 'feel' your heartbeat get faster? Also, what is your approximate age?
1000480 tn?1266592599 My panic attacks went away completely when I stpooed drinking, stopped smoking and went back to church and was healed from all my issues and worries and freak out s. then...I stopped excersising and started drinking again and i cant even look at a line and I panic beyond belief. Avatar n tn and desided to go to the psychitrist... I was diagnosed with panic attacks... and I was prescriped with Zoloft... 25mg to begin with... and an other pill called "akamon" to help me sleep at night.... he said that its a therapy of 6 months and then I will be just fine but since I was very worried of taking these meds i kept visiting websites and they are all full with people that take them for years and no one that said... "ok i took them for 4-5 months and then I was ok"....
607502 tn?1288247540 I get panic attacks, sometimes with no warning and no obvious trigger - these are at night when I'm about to go to sleep I suddenly can't breathe and my heart is racing. Then I get the ones brought on by outside stressors, ie, situations I can't cope with.
Avatar f tn So I got a question like last year I smoke some pot and it was laced with meth and heroin and I was freaking out I was afraid I was going to die my mom almost took me to the er. so now every time I smoke pot or I try to drink or I try to take any type of pills I start freaking out and having really bad panic attacks to where my heart rate goes up and I'm afraid I'm going to die. do you think if I quit smoking and drinking and doing everything for a couple of years it will die down?
Avatar f tn , so I went to a doctor who told me I was having panic attacks and prescribed me Xanax 0.5 mg 4 times daily, and it is actually working. I was wondering if anyone thought that this was because of the XTC and if anyone else has had this happen. Thanks for listening.
Avatar f tn They can be used to control panic attacks......for what reason were they prescribed to you? If for panic attacks, and they're not controlling them, call your doctor and let him/her know. Take care.
933087 tn?1291174260 Even though the medication helped me greatly in school, the panic attacks became more frequent and more aggressive. Every day after school i would get home and start to feel my fingers tingle, my face go numb, get really dizzy, then have problems breathing. Id have to lay down and just try to fall asleep to get rid of all of it. At the time I thought it was panic attacks that I was having but was not yet diagnosed.
Avatar f tn I suffer with from panic attacks, I wake up very early in the morning feeling dread and what will this day hold for me. I am not an optimistic but a pessimist. If I dare have a thought that today may be good, I shoot myself down by saying "Do not think everything is going to be alright". I am a defeatest. I and my husband are unemployed and cannot find a job. So every day is a financial and peronsal challenge to us both.
Avatar n tn I too have Crohns diease and have panic attacks. I was seeing a GI doctor and told him of the attacks, he said that the stress and trying to cope with this diease was the likely cause. He sent me to a mind and body dr. that he consulted with before I visited and told him my situation. They worked together and I was put on a low does of Klonipin and the attacks completely stopped. Shortly after my Crohn's went into remission.
Avatar m tn I know from experience the anxious state can last for months and panic attacks can happen daily. I went through a horrible period of anxiety and panic. I have since been treated with meds and therapy and I am much better! Hopefully, you feel better soon!
2107676 tn?1388973859 I practice every day and in the past 6 months of sobriety I have eliminated my panic attacks and learned to work through my anxiety, drug free. Be gentle with yourself darlin', treat yourself with love, and take lots of those deep deep breaths. Sending support...
Avatar f tn I am scheduled to see a therapist and then the next week the psychiatrist. Yes the panic attacks have happened suddenly and i know the benzos are a bandaid. Im lucky enough that my husband put his foot down and i actually went to see a family doc who went straight to ordering the thyroid tests. I also understand the dependency that you can develope from these drugs. I didnt actually take but one dose of the zoloft because it make me unable to sleep as did the xanax er.
Avatar m tn I used to be on Klonopin (now on Lorazepam) because I was having panic attacks like you were. General family doctors might prescribe this for you but probably not. I would see a psychiatrist because they can get you better meds to manage your attacks. I'd also suggest some therapy to get at the heart of the problem. Talking to people who understand your problems is always helpful.
