214901 tn?1227567555 2 years ago I posted my comment in response to the original post, and 2 years later I can safely say the night terrors have returned. Cause? Stress and being hypo. Two years ago I was stressed and hyper, and no night terrors at all. Interesting isn't it, how the brain works.
Avatar m tn My 19 month old has just in the last 3 days wakes up in the middle of the night cry screaming. He has a good night light and he has his favorite stuff dog and blanket. He has never done this before. Four days ago we had to take him to the doctor cause he was running a high fever and he had strip throat. Please Help.
Avatar f tn He also began to have hallucinations, facial tics and night terrors. He awoke one morning and his pupils were nearly completely dialated. That got my attention fast and I started researching Singulair. He never took another Singulair after that day. It took approximately 3 weeks for my son's side effects to completely disappear. His recovery from the Singulair was amazing. I found valuable information on the websites: medications.com and askapatient.com.
Avatar f tn You sure have had your share of bad luck. I do not know whether I could get through a day if I were in your shoes. I read and reread your questions. Do you think that your night terrors are the basics of physical and mental pain? I wonder whether you ever considered using a sleep laboratory to analyze your episodes of night terror?
Avatar f tn Maybe there's different ways night terrors present themselves, but most I've read about them says the person is asleep when while they crying or screaming. Maybe someone more knowledgeable will post and say if what you describe could happen upon awakening from a night terror. Is there anyone who sees you sleep who tell you if you act distressed before awakening? Are your dreams themselves bad?
303824 tn?1294871401 I even found him on top of a dresser in his room one night and when I went to put him back in bed, he woke up and started freaking out. These are just two examples of this, it has been going on for a while and in different forms. Anyone have any idea what this is?? Thank you!
Avatar f tn i also had night terrors as a child, and i must say they are one of the scarest things to go through as a child. i would see things, talk in tongue, shake really bad, ect. when i was having these my mom would lye down with me and talk to me, telling me that she was there and that everything would be ok. i dont remember her doing this, but i do remember waking up alot of morning with her in bed with me. my mom told me that it sometimes lasted for hours.
Avatar f tn I just found out a few days ago and between my mind wrapping itself around the concept I am growing another human life and night terrors I can't sleep. Are these nightmares that seem so real and keep me from my sleep a normal part of being pregnant? ?
Avatar f tn it would be better to leave him in his own room and sit in there with him . It could be night terrors although it may be a bit young, has he started it recently and have there been any changes in his life and routine ?
Avatar f tn thanks for the advice, It just seems whenever I feel depression and anxiety I start getting night terrors too.
Avatar n tn I'm living with my boyfriend who has night terrors. The first week we slept together I saw about 3 episodes in 1 week. After that I havent seen anymore til this morning. I barely turned over and wrapped my arm around him and he paniced. Started sayin stuff like please dont hurt me and dont bite me. We are both big into vampires! But this morning he grabbed me by my throat but not a choking hard just placed his hand around my throat saying please dont bite me and I wanna quit this or that.
Avatar f tn The fact that you even ask if it can be related to depression makes me think it is. Deppression can cause various sleep problems from sleeping too much, to too little. When I'm under more anxiety and depression I tend to sleep more during the day which effects my sleeping at night. When we dream we are in the early stages of sleep which Is why people will often dream after going to bed after waking in the middle of the night.
Avatar f tn Night Terrors is a parasopnia disorder which will can happening on the first three hours of sleep. When that happens people will not remember their terror when they wake up but whenever they wake up their heart ratewill be high sky. Also whenever someone is having a terror they can be crying in their sleep, swinging punches and many other just to try to defend themselves. But once again a person will not remember what he or she dream about that terrorize them in their sleep.
203342 tn?1328737207 My son had terrible night terrors / nightmares / hallucinations while taking Singulair for his allergies / asthma. He called them "real-dreams." He had many, many other side effects as well. If your son is on any medications, check out the website medications.com or askapatient.com. These side effects are thought to be very rare but actually happen more frequently than anyone knows but we dont associate a nightmare with an allergy pill. I hope he feels better soon.
Avatar f tn I am a 22 year old female, in fairly good health and have always slept fine up until this. EVERY night without fail, I wake up anywhere from 1-4 times with these horrible night terrors. I dream about the most gorish, horrific, painfully terrifying things and wake up either screaming, thrashing around until I fall out of bed, or gasping and choking for air until my current boyfriend grabs me and shakes me awake. Then I fall back asleep, and it happens again.
Avatar m tn my daughter is also showing signs of having night terrors and she is only 3. she has a lot of problems with sleeping, since she was born. her doctor told us to give her melatonin and wants to send her to a sleep specialist. i just do not know what to do.
Avatar m tn m a 23 year old male, who takes Singuliar, 10mg, daily for asthma symptoms. However for the past few nights, I have been wheezing and coughing in bed at night to the point it disrupts my sleep, leaving me dragging the next day. During the day I do not wheeze and cough, just laying down at night in bed. Should I go see my doctor, or is this something due to change in weather (it has become noticably cooler in this area the past couple days), or something the medication will correct in time?
Avatar n tn Recently, there's been more and more evidence that night terrors (and even sleep walking) can be caused by sleep-breathing problems such as sleep apnea. Confusion during transition from different sleep stages can lead to these conditions. There's no minimum number you need to get it treated. It really depends on how much it affects your quality of life. By definition, when you wake up when you're dreaming, that's when your dreams are most vivid.
Avatar f tn I have nightmares every single night and occasionally have night terrors. I wake up from them and end up staying awake for a few hours before I can finally fall asleep again. I am getting about 3 hours of sleep a night. I was prescribed lorazepam but the medication made me severely depressed. Is there anything I can do or take to get a good night sleep?
Avatar f tn s night terrors since she seems to be aware of me and we talk and she answers questions. However, she is definitely disoriented and not quite in her right mind. She mixes up the rooms, thinking my son's room is hers. She thinks someone is in the house. She thinks she's left her blanket in another room. She even thought she pooped on the floor. These episodes have now happened 3 nights in a row varying from 1/2 hour in between, to several hours.
Avatar f tn and tonight I had another one about a neighbor that had a mentally unstable guy living with him, Derrick (my fiance) was at work, and this guy had a robot with a semi automatic gun that was detachable the dude seen me in the big window we have and started stalking me outside the house with the gun, and somehow got inside and was looking for me.. and I ended up waking up scared to death...
Avatar f tn always starts between 6 and 8pm. It can last off and on all night long sometimes til 2 or 3 am sometimes later than that. Her body finally gives up and crashes. We have had her in the ER 2X. They have ran all blood tests, urinalists, CT's and xrays. They say there is nothing wrong with her. She has had no fever, vomiting, diareah(sp), has regular bowel movements. Now for my question. Could she not be wanting to fall asleep? Maybe night terrors.
