Avatar f tn I have AIH and am on 50 mg of Imuran and 2.5 mg of prednisone daily. My liver is stage 3 but the disease is under control. I get such allergies from outside in spring and fall that it literally puts me down. Everything I read that is out there is not for people with liver problems. I used to be on daily doses of singulair but have been off for them for quite a few years. Is there anything I can buy either via a doctor or on the market to help me that wont harm me more?
Avatar n tn Also have a history of liver disease/cancer (mother and maternal grandfather--unsure if primary or metastatic), diabetes (mother), and heart disease (both parents). Any idea what could be causing these symptoms?
Avatar f tn it is a good drug for nasal allergies and also, for a fair number of people, effective treatment for asthma. And it is safe, not a cause of significant liver disease, and not associated with other side effects, deemed serious. To the best of our current knowledge, the long term use of a nasal steroid, as directed, does not pose a problem. However, if your symptoms diminish during certain seasons, you may not and should not take the drug during those times.
Avatar m tn I am still trying to figure out why my clinic is not going to treat me and was wondering if it is because of my stage 4 liver disease? This is the only condition left that we haven't gone over here. I got a call from OHSU (Oregon Health Science University) last week for an appointment in two weeks, so all is not lost.
Avatar m tn Hi, Apparently you can have elevated liver enzymes if you have Celiac disease. I am not exactly sure why. Imuran also causes this. I, too, have Crohn's disease and elevated liver enzymes, but am not taking Imuran, so we're trying to figure out what's going on. Good luck to you!
Avatar f tn You should try the Singulair because this can be more effective for controlling the Allergic Rhinitis and the Asthma. The physician can CLOSELY monitor your liver with labs while you are taking the medication. Liver issues CAN develop on this drug; remember this is NOT a given meaning this doesn't mean this WILL happen.
Avatar m tn Hi and welcome to the Migraines & Headaches Community. The tinnitus can also happen when your blood pressure is high(er). Have you ever checked your BP at the same time you have the tinnitus? As far as the runny nose, ask your doctor about Singulair. I have been taking it for a little over a month and it is UNBELIEVABLE at the big difference it has made!
Avatar f tn I find that just taking medications when needed is not really managing my asthma.
Avatar n tn Hello, Side effects of singulair are many varying from non serious ones like nausea, abdominal pain, headache, heart burns and GI discomfort to serious ones like anaphylaxis, liver damage and depression and hallucinations. You can take zytec(cetrizine) for your allergies but it is also not without side effects. They may vary from allergic reactions to raised heart beat, seizures and liver damage.
Avatar n tn Do you think you had a propensity for panic and the singulair just brought it out? Would think this could happen. Singulair does tend to be linked to psychiatric issues and panic especially in pediatric populations (up to 19 yrs). Unfortunately, now it would be best to avoid all medications similar of that class in the future. Unfortunate as being asthmatic can definitely make life also quite difficult. I feel for you. Have you ever tried acupuncture?
1517808 tn?1290813790 hello, i suffer from chronic hives and joint pains, i have been to my general doctor and dermatologist, my general doctor ran blood tests and found nothing out of the ordinary. my dermatologist just has me on anti histamine drugs singulair etc.. these drugs only aid in the itching part of this. my joints constantly ache feet, knees etc.. some days its hard to walk and makes my job very difficult.
Avatar m tn he began to have a facial tic, dilated pupils and hallucinations. i finally got the message and discontinued the singulair after researching the drug on the internet. after 3 weeks, he was like a different child. he was happier and healthier. his fears, anxiety and all the other side effects just disappeared. this drug can have devastating effects and be undetected by parents. children are unable to express the way the drug is making them feel.
920032 tn?1550680156 All those do is dry up the mucous and drainage - post nasal drip. I use it and love it. Singulair is a leukotriine modifier. That is one of the many chemicals involved in allergic reactions. As far as which is better, that would be hard to say. They have totally different purposes. Some people say that Singulair has little effect, while I won't miss a dose without having an attack.
Avatar f tn My Dr has recommended I try singualr along with Allegra and flonase. He had told me the SIngulair will not make me feel funny, cause anxiety or heart palps etc...yet I see there are a lot of negative side effects. Does anyone have any experience on this medicine or just how safe it is?
460830 tn?1347219306 Singulair is a leukotriene (loo-koe-TRY-een) inhibitor. Leukotrienes are chemicals your body releases when you breathe in an allergen (such as pollen). These chemicals cause swelling in your lungs and tightening of the muscles around your airways, which can result in asthma symptoms. Singulair is used to prevent asthma attacks in adults and children as young as 12 months old. It is also used to relieve runny nose and sneezing caused by allergies in adults and children as young as 6 months old.
Avatar m tn It causes asthma (Arizona Cypress, Mesquite and Palo Verde are the culprits.) Singulair has helped me very successfully in the past. However, I also take a very low dose blood pressure medication (Lisinopril 20mg). I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.
Avatar f tn Hello, Chronic nausea can be due to stomach disorders such as gastroenteritis, liver/gall bladder disease, cancer, medications, inner ear diseases like labrynthitis, ulcers/gastritis, metabolic like diabetes, hypothyroidism and adrenal diseases or neurological causes. Take an OTC lactobacillus preparation and yoghurt with your meals. Drink plenty of fluids and eat small nutritious meals at frequent intervals instead of a heavy single meal.
Avatar n tn Writing that you take breathing treatments and singulair implys you are being treated for asthma. Your runny nose may be a sign of allergic rhinitis and you may have allergic asthma. An examination and testing by an Allergy/Asthma specialist is certainly suggested, and if there are positive allergy results, specific therapy directed at addressing those allergies, may be beneficial.
Avatar f tn Last night I tried SIngulair since his pulmicort is no longer working as a stand alone drug and he was up crying and saying "ear ear" from 3am to 8:30am. So I do believe you. Singulair also said hallucinations, etc. I hate that any kid has to put up with this. I'm sad for you since all of this is very scary. Are you seeing a specialist or just a ped? Just giving you my empathy and support. This road is scary.
Avatar f tn I think you posted a long time ago about your son and Singulair. My six year old took Singulair for 2 weeks and develped facial tics, twitches and other odd things. He's now been off for 10 days and we are still seeing it. Neuro appt. this week- so worried. Is your son okay now?
Avatar n tn My question is will I go back to normal, my stomack feels like it was streched out, Also did I do damage to my liver and pancreas. I am a former patient of Jewish and always grateful for the great care. Should I be worried about the length of time I was having problems, and what should I do. Thank you, K.
1154802 tn?1266485720 I also use Symbicort and was using my inhaler quite a bit...every night and 1-3 times during the day. I started taking Singulair a month ago and I don't use my inhaler nearly as much anymore. I've used it 3 times at night in the past month (2 of the times I forgot to take Singulair) and a few random times during the day/evening. Just a thought if you don't already take it and you have allergy issues. Take care.
Avatar f tn Hello, I'm a 45 year old man, in pretty good shape. Workout every other day 5'11" 185lbs. History of seasonal allergies and sinsus problems. No history of Asthma. In November 2015, I had a really bad allergic reaction to a coworkers perfume and had a very difficult time recovering from it.
