Singulair and ear infections

Common Questions and Answers about Singulair and ear infections

singulair

Avatar f tn My 2 year old son acquired severe RSV at 6 weeks old. Ever since then he now has virally induced asthma. So he's been hospitalized a few times with bronchiolitis when he was 1 years old. The typical treatment has been 2ce a day pulmicort and 3xs a day to every 4 hours of albuterol. If that didn't work they would add predisone and sometimes zithromax. And those combos knocked it out. Well he now has 3 weeks of a rattling cough that just doesn't go away.
Avatar f tn My Dr has recommended I try singualr along with Allegra and flonase. He had told me the SIngulair will not make me feel funny, cause anxiety or heart palps etc...yet I see there are a lot of negative side effects. Does anyone have any experience on this medicine or just how safe it is?
Avatar f tn Hello, I'm a 45 year old man, in pretty good shape. Workout every other day 5'11" 185lbs. History of seasonal allergies and sinsus problems. No history of Asthma. In November 2015, I had a really bad allergic reaction to a coworkers perfume and had a very difficult time recovering from it. In February 2016, my doctor prescribed Advair 250/50, once a day and Singulair 10mg at bedtime.
Avatar f tn I know for a fact that Singulair can cause ear ache and chest infection as well as other annoying side effects because I have had them, I got off of the medication because I didn't see improvement, my friend stayed on it and loves what it does for her. My mother in law is on it and loves it. Oh I should also mention that it also takes about 1-2 months for some long term asthma medication to take full effect so don't take it for 2 weeks and say it isn't working, give it a chance!
Avatar n tn ve been to many trying to get mystery burning of the skin and rashes figured out incl. a dbl ear infection and EVERY doc that the dbl. Singulair and Zyflo was a Brilliant idea.... God bless, keep the faith...
467604 tn?1214938733 ve also noticed no more ear infections, sinus infections. And when they do get sick, its unbelievibly just runny noses for a couple of days and that's it. And my husband used to take omeprazol (?) 2x a day for acid indigestion, and he no longer gets it. My oldest used to get migrains and no longer has them either. Not in a million years would I have guessed things would have changed for the better with no milk. I hope this helps somebody.
1936550 tn?1348360208 I finally went to a nurse practcioner who said he needed his tonsils out(they were huge) and adenoids out and he put him on a prescription nose spray and he explained that it brought down the swelling in his nasal passages and helped things to drain. I don't know but it worked! We were able to keep him well for 3 months until he could get his adenoids and tonsils removed.
1241045 tn?1268250883 My dog is a boxer and she constantly has ear infections. She shakes her head all the time. Short of cleaning her ears three times a day, what can I do about it? Can you put tubes in dogs ears like children? She also gets yeast in between her toes and is always licking them. And the smell is aweful! I was told it could be allergies, but the test for dogs is expensive. We have tried changing her diet and she still gets ear infections.
713383 tn?1232483914 It seems that no matter what I do, I cannot clear up his ear infections. I have tried antibiotics, ear drops, everything and they keep coming back. His ears smell terrible, which leads me to believe he is getting chronic yeast infections in his ears. What causes this and is there some alternative, perhaps herbal supplement I can give him since traditional medicine seems to be failing? This has been going on for years now and they just keep coming back.
Avatar n tn He was 1 month pre-mautre, had RSV at 6 months, and constant ear infections with 2 bouts of right lung pneumonia. I know it sounds like a lot, but otherwise he is a happy, normal little boy. My concern is, he has a constant, chronic, seemingly productive cough. He is always able to cough something up and it seems over the last few weeks to be getting worse.
Avatar f tn t look like little bugs. They actually look like a ton of brown/black ear wax. Go to 1800 pet meds and look under ear medications. Look for tresaderm. This will treat the mites. If it does have a foul smell to it, there is medication available on that site as well. However, you can treat it yourself with peroxide and alchohal. (if you have the stomach for it, that is). In the morning, poor peroxide into the ear. Hold the ear shut so it bubbles up inside.
Avatar n tn he has a neuro-sensory hearing loss in his left ear, and wears an aid. Since we discovered the loss - and got the aid - just over a year ago, his behavior and speech have improved. He also has allergy induced asthma. He takes Singulair daily and takes Pulmicort and Xopenex as needed via nebulizer when he starts to show signs of coughing. My husband and I went to his parent-teacher conference yesterday - for pre-school - and we were advised by his team (speech therapist, psychologist, etc.
Avatar n tn The list ER i went to the doctor told me I had a lot of wax in my ears I went home and used a ear wax removal kit but no wax was out and still the same problem! What sholud I do. Also for the past 3 months I have been getting a rash around my neck. Do you know wht this might be?
Avatar f tn The past few months of sicknesses has been the worst. He was on prednisone 3 more times and still while on Singulair. Now he is on Flovent and Singulair hoping to keep his wheezing under control. But he remains with this wet cough. It's from the asthma. Has your son ever had wheezing? The Singulair is pretty safe although it can have sleeping side effects. We have to give to him at night right b-4 bed or it keeps him up. It has helped, but just not enough.
Avatar m tn m suffering from light headaches (in forehead, but exact location differs a lot), post nasal drip (intensity differs) when I swallow and a very low pitched tinnitus. Although I'm not sure when this low tinnitus started and where it came from. I've Always had Pulsatile Tinnitus which is a bit higher pitched and clearly hums on the rhythm of my heart beat, but that one disappears when I lie down, turn my head to the side or push on my neck arteries.
Avatar f tn Oh man. No. Just be careful and don't swap spit or get too close. I had strep throat twice and an ear infection while pregnant with my daughter. I'm a strep magnet. If it's tonsilitis that he has just keep a good space and lysol when he leaves.
Avatar f tn The doctors say that my ear infections are just bad luck and not due to what I had stuck in my ear even though prior to that I never had an ear infection. Could I have some underlying infection that hasn't fully cleared? Seeing as they've been giving me the same ear drops for almost 2 years?
1100598 tn?1413127426 In October, I developed an upper respiratory infection that caused swollen lymph nodes in my neck and an ear infection/sore throat, and later on a cough. The cough has hung on since then. I have had two chest x-rays, which have come back negative. My doctor put me on a course of prednisone, which did nothing. The cough brings up a foaming white phlegm, and sometimes causes heart palpitations.

Avatar n tn I went to a friend of mine who is a PA and he said when I swallow my ear drum pops out and stays out. Could this be a eustation problem? If so how should I go about treating it? He put me on nasal spray and singulair. I have tried those things in the past but to no avail. I am going crazy with this thing. I just geel dizzy and spaced out all the time. I could deal with the crackling but not feeling like an idiot for the rest of my life. Anyone?????
Avatar m tn And she sent me home I felt ok but not great and then in middle of night. My ear pain got worse and ringing in ear and some fullness. So I went to see about getting some pain meds. In a tray that I keep my meds in. I came across some ear drop that were not all used from other ear infection I had about six months earlier. I put the drops in and now I feel way worse. My ears feel more clogged and pain is not as bad . But I feel light headed . The ear drops have a steroid in it .
Avatar n tn After an echocardiogram, a stress test and a CT angiogram, I was diagnosed with non-specific palps and vasovagal reaction. I was also treated wtih GERD meds, singulair and inhalers. My symptoms did not subside at all for many months (including several respiratory infections which required antibiotics that year). I have been on GERD meds (currently Protonix 2x/day) along with an inhaler and singulair. I generally follow all GERD preventative recommendations.
Avatar f tn It was then that I researched the side effects of my prescribed drugs and determined that I should stop taking the Singulair. My doctor prescribed a replacement for Singulair, and within a month the numbness went away. Over the past few months I have tried to get back into running. I used to run frequently, always training for a 5k, 10k, or half-marathon, so not sprinting. I have never had a problem with my heart rate or my blood pressure, but now I do.
Avatar n tn I suggest getting a second person to help you. One to hold him and comfort him, and one to get in that ear and clean it! I would probably start with a warm wet towel (dont use paper towels, they are scratchy) Get out as MUCH as you can with the towel. After everything is done, get out you pets favorite treat. I usually don't suggest bacon as a treat unless you REALLY need your dog to forget about what you just did. Bacon is a GREAT treat for this type is situation.
Avatar n tn Antibiotics sometimes don't work for sinus infections, because sinus infections differ than other types of infections, and anyway, soon, a large swath of bacteria strains will be antibiotic-resistant. The Flip-Turn Sinus Flush verifies a Mayo Clinic discovery about the true nature of some sinus infections, but I will not recommend it until you have gone through your other meds. http://www.medhelp.
