singulair

1154802 tn?1266485720 I also use Symbicort and was using my inhaler quite a bit...every night and 1-3 times during the day. I started taking Singulair a month ago and I don't use my inhaler nearly as much anymore. I've used it 3 times at night in the past month (2 of the times I forgot to take Singulair) and a few random times during the day/evening. Just a thought if you don't already take it and you have allergy issues. Take care.
920032 tn?1550680156 All those do is dry up the mucous and drainage - post nasal drip. I use it and love it. Singulair is a leukotriine modifier. That is one of the many chemicals involved in allergic reactions. As far as which is better, that would be hard to say. They have totally different purposes. Some people say that Singulair has little effect, while I won't miss a dose without having an attack.
Avatar f tn I take singulair and doxepin perscribed by my allergist to control hives. I sometimes breakout with red pimple sores that hurt. A medical friend said the sores look like spider bites, but I'm sure they aren't. Can either singulair or doxepincause this reaction, and if so, what can I do for the sores short of not taking the medicine. Benidryl and oether similar medicines do not control my hives.
Avatar n tn m on a controller med (Symbicort) plus singulair for over a year and it has worked fantastically. Also on singulair and a rescue. Lately I try to take a deep breath and it feels like there is something blocking it, like I literally just can't get past it, my rescue doesn't help it and this has never happened before. Nothing makes it happen, just at random (trying to fall asleep, watching TV, at work, etc).
Avatar n tn Im going on holidays and will be taking medication to control this. I am woundering if anyone could help me in letting me know could i still tan in the sun even do im allergic to UVA.
Avatar f tn The past few months of sicknesses has been the worst. He was on prednisone 3 more times and still while on Singulair. Now he is on Flovent and Singulair hoping to keep his wheezing under control. But he remains with this wet cough. It's from the asthma. Has your son ever had wheezing? The Singulair is pretty safe although it can have sleeping side effects. We have to give to him at night right b-4 bed or it keeps him up. It has helped, but just not enough.
1491252 tn?1297450771 t run and sports and exercising are my favorite things to do. i am a very active in school and sports and band, but my asthma used to only act up during band when i carried a bass drum around, and then i tried exercising to help controll it, but it only got worse. After i got my inhaler, i had some kinda of virus, i believe it was called adenovirus and i was put on a Z-pack because i was weasing when i breathed out.
Avatar n tn After an echocardiogram, a stress test and a CT angiogram, I was diagnosed with non-specific palps and vasovagal reaction. I was also treated wtih GERD meds, singulair and inhalers. My symptoms did not subside at all for many months (including several respiratory infections which required antibiotics that year). I have been on GERD meds (currently Protonix 2x/day) along with an inhaler and singulair. I generally follow all GERD preventative recommendations.
Avatar m tn As, Singulair (montelukast) is used to prevent asthma attacks in adults and children. Singulair 10mg tablets contain the active ingredient montelukast, which is a type of medicine known as a leukotriene receptor antagonist. You may need regular inhaled corticosteroids and short-acting beta agonist such as salbutamol, to relieve your symptoms. Nebulization may help. Sometimes, steroids may be needed to control the symptoms.
Avatar m tn he began to have a facial tic, dilated pupils and hallucinations. i finally got the message and discontinued the singulair after researching the drug on the internet. after 3 weeks, he was like a different child. he was happier and healthier. his fears, anxiety and all the other side effects just disappeared. this drug can have devastating effects and be undetected by parents. children are unable to express the way the drug is making them feel.
Avatar f tn My Dr has recommended I try singualr along with Allegra and flonase. He had told me the SIngulair will not make me feel funny, cause anxiety or heart palps etc...yet I see there are a lot of negative side effects. Does anyone have any experience on this medicine or just how safe it is?
460830 tn?1347219306 Singulair is a leukotriene (loo-koe-TRY-een) inhibitor. Leukotrienes are chemicals your body releases when you breathe in an allergen (such as pollen). These chemicals cause swelling in your lungs and tightening of the muscles around your airways, which can result in asthma symptoms. Singulair is used to prevent asthma attacks in adults and children as young as 12 months old. It is also used to relieve runny nose and sneezing caused by allergies in adults and children as young as 6 months old.
Avatar m tn It causes asthma (Arizona Cypress, Mesquite and Palo Verde are the culprits.) Singulair has helped me very successfully in the past. However, I also take a very low dose blood pressure medication (Lisinopril 20mg). I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.
Avatar f tn I think you posted a long time ago about your son and Singulair. My six year old took Singulair for 2 weeks and develped facial tics, twitches and other odd things. He's now been off for 10 days and we are still seeing it. Neuro appt. this week- so worried. Is your son okay now?
Avatar n tn He wants me to be firm on taking it first thing in the morning, and not taking any other medications/vitamins for at least 2 hours (Biotin, birth control, singulair, spironolactone). My questions is, why would everything be 'normal' except my TSH?
Avatar n tn She initially did chemo and steroids to get everything under control, and while she is usually fine, she does deal with a lot of fatigue. She started having noticeable cardiac issues (flutters, racing, chest pain) over the summer, which eventually resulted in a Holter monitor. She had her f/u with her cardiologist yesterday and was diagnosed with PVCs. She was put on Metoprolol, and told to go to the ED if she had an episode that lasted more than 30 seconds.
Avatar f tn Hello, I'm a 45 year old man, in pretty good shape. Workout every other day 5'11" 185lbs. History of seasonal allergies and sinsus problems. No history of Asthma. In November 2015, I had a really bad allergic reaction to a coworkers perfume and had a very difficult time recovering from it. In February 2016, my doctor prescribed Advair 250/50, once a day and Singulair 10mg at bedtime.
640719 tn?1277140030 I do use a peak flow meter and I've been staying good. My doctor that passed/drowned told me if I got into a certain range to call him but now I can't do that and I'm feeling fearful with this hayfever kicking up. This morning I feel a bit better after 3 days of the nasal spray. I have all the scripts he gave me but I'm not sure what his plan was.
Avatar m tn So sorry to hear that. Is he being seen by a pulmonary specialist? Is he taking any sort of preventative medications apart from ventoIin? He obviously needs to have his asthma controlled. I do know that they don't like to over medicate children on steroid puffers. But I do believe they are allowed up to 400ug/day safely before any side effects become apparent, such as slowed growth. Does he have a lot of air born allergies?
1517808 tn?1290813790 Over time, I stopped taking the Zyrtec and Zantac. Now I am only taking the Doxepin. This seems to control everything pretty well. My doctor also told me about Plaquenil, which was a medication for lupus patients but also works well with my condition. However, the Plaquenil is known for some side effects that could lead to retinal spotting, so regular eye exams are required and he recommends not taking it for extensive periods of time. I hope this helps!
7730563 tn?1393781747 I have had asthma for the last 5 years and was on singulair daily and I also have an albuterol inhailer but I stopped taking them when I found out I was pregnant. I have been fine with my breathing until yesterday. I'm getting this nasty cold and I can feel the tightening in my chest. The doctor told me to start my meds but they are class b and c medications. Singulair said its safe but there is no human studies..... It doesn't sound safe to me.
Avatar n tn The reflux can cause airway irritation and definitely allergies and sinusitis (I have it too) wont help. I tried singulair - did absolutely nothing for me, BUT it has lactose in it which is one of my allergies so ..... Ventolin is good to keep around in case of flare ups, you may find you have more problems during a cold, high allergen exposure or if your reflux flares up.
Avatar m tn point, it there any harm in erasing any words he gets wrong, and why does it matter if he takes a long time on his homework, perhaps you are puttin onto him your perspective on how it should be take a step back and let him be his own person, let him be in control of whether he blinks or rubs his shoulder.. Focus on his positive side , ..The bad 'feelings he had were more than likely from any meds you had him on..
Avatar f tn I have heard about the patch and the IUD and wanted to know all about them or any other really effective birth control. I don't want anything that will increase my acne, weight, or flow. I have bad acne and flow as it is.
360318 tn?1340393363 So my question is should I get on birth control? How will this effect the way I act and the way I feel? I have heard bad stories about the pill, and that it makes you really cranky, and I am already cranky once I ovulate, and I am worried my boyfriend will leave me if I am more cranky, because he has threatened to leave a few times when I had ovulated and had been cranky.
Avatar f tn I would never recommend the depo shot. I was on it for a year and ever since ive had bad headaches and problems with my bones aching. It ***** the calcium out of your bones and I was always small (110-115 pounds) before I started it and it made me gain weight I was never able to keep off and stayed around 140 when before I could never even make myself gain weight. It totally messed up my body and periods and I bled for 2-3 weeks everytime I had to get the next shot.
