Common Questions and Answers about Singulair and behavior problems in children

singulair

460830 tn?1347219306 Singulair is used to prevent asthma attacks in adults and children as young as 12 months old. It is also used to relieve runny nose and sneezing caused by allergies in adults and children as young as 6 months old.
Avatar n tn there are many stories of families whose children suffered many behavior problems from taking this medication. i hope this helps you.
Avatar m tn We reasearched Singulair when our son was first prescribed it and found none of the information now noted in their website. The link to suicide, depression and other behavioral problems and Singulair, although known by the manufacturer and the FDA for several months was not mentioned by either until recently and notices were not sent to all Pharmacists and Dr.s. For me, this experience has shown me that there is no "miracle" drug, and all drugs are just that....drugs.
Avatar m tn reassure him that his secrets and disclosures and fears are safe with you and that he will be safe and protected no matter what he is feeling or thinking or experiencing right now. irregardless of what he has to say.
Avatar n tn Get him off the Singulair. You might want to try Zyrtec. My son had bad allergies as a small child - he was later found out to be gluten intolerant. Artificial colorings have now een definitely proven to trigger off alot of these symptoms. Whatever he is doing - cheer up - my kid was so ADHD off the charts he was kicked out of public school (and he was a straight A student).
920032 tn?1550680156 He prescribed me with the symbicort turbuhaler and I have one puff off this once a day and in the past 2 months that I have been on it, I have pretty much forgotten that I am asthmatic, even through the extreme cold in the last couple of weeks. By this time of the year I have normally suffered through Bronchitis at least twice, I am still waiting for my first one this year...
Avatar m tn he began to have a facial tic, dilated pupils and hallucinations. i finally got the message and discontinued the singulair after researching the drug on the internet. after 3 weeks, he was like a different child. he was happier and healthier. his fears, anxiety and all the other side effects just disappeared. this drug can have devastating effects and be undetected by parents. children are unable to express the way the drug is making them feel.

Avatar n tn My 8 year old boy,who always keeps things untidy and throws his home work and study materials every where. He never finishes a game example a racing game, even if he wins he uses short cuts(cheating). He will never tidy his room and he never obey at the first time, need to repeat things a dozen times at a time.Is this any sort of medical problem?
Avatar n tn Since we discovered the loss - and got the aid - just over a year ago, his behavior and speech have improved. He also has allergy induced asthma. He takes Singulair daily and takes Pulmicort and Xopenex as needed via nebulizer when he starts to show signs of coughing. My husband and I went to his parent-teacher conference yesterday - for pre-school - and we were advised by his team (speech therapist, psychologist, etc.) that we should discuss his behavior with our pediatrician.
Avatar f tn my son is 6 years old and was born with down, lately he is having behaviors that seems a tease.
Avatar n tn She says his behavior is so bad she does not like to be with him at all. There are 3 other children in the family, and there is constant bickering, and anger. My heart breaks when he is stuck, and can't seem to gain control. He lies a lot now, but I know that he was punished a lot when he was younger. I find now you can be looking right at him and he knows it, but will deny doing what you just observed. He is also now pulling out his hair.
Avatar f tn It's unfortunate that cruel hearted idiots have done this to him, and while it is understandable given the circumstances, as Ginger has said, it IS inappropriate behavior and must be stopped. Parson Russell Terriers, depending on their bloodlines, can have attitude problems even when raised WITHOUT being harassed, so if you are to be successful at breaking this behavior, I would go right to the top and instead of messing around trying to do it yourself, I would consult a canine behaviorist.
Avatar n tn Is it normal for a 4 year old girl to be interested in looking at other girls private parts and touching them? She has been masturbating frequently and now this interest in other girls is worrying me. This discussion is related to 4 year old girl masturbation.
Avatar f tn s say they do not want to treat him he is too young, my husband’s family his father and his brother and very smart and geniuses in their industries of computers and aeronautical engineering but they cannot function socially and abuse alcohol. I am fearful that this is my son’s issue. Where do I go for help? I have an older son who is very well behaved and does well despite the fact that he has dyslexia.
Avatar n tn He is almost 3 years old and was progressing well in his potty-training but since all the tantrums started he refuses to use the potty at home. I am at a loss as to how to manage his behavior, nothing seems to work. He is extremely strong-willed and independent. Any advice is appreciated.
Avatar f tn First, I havent heard of explosive behavior disorder. (in children) In adults, this type of thing would show up as an Axis II personality disorder. In children, particularly 4 (very young for this kind of diagnosis, ADD/ADHD as well - and I would hold off on the meds until a second or third opinion is obtained..cheaper than treatment I'm sure...) ALSO - (I have personal experience in this - my 5 yr old girl had wild tantrums, and I was very worried,, and took her to different drs...
Avatar f tn Hello, I'm a 45 year old man, in pretty good shape. Workout every other day 5'11" 185lbs. History of seasonal allergies and sinsus problems. No history of Asthma. In November 2015, I had a really bad allergic reaction to a coworkers perfume and had a very difficult time recovering from it. In February 2016, my doctor prescribed Advair 250/50, once a day and Singulair 10mg at bedtime.
Avatar n tn Do you think you had a propensity for panic and the singulair just brought it out? Would think this could happen. Singulair does tend to be linked to psychiatric issues and panic especially in pediatric populations (up to 19 yrs). Unfortunately, now it would be best to avoid all medications similar of that class in the future. Unfortunate as being asthmatic can definitely make life also quite difficult. I feel for you. Have you ever tried acupuncture?
Avatar n tn At least once he has removed a stool from his pants, put it in the toilet, flushed and washed his hands. Additionally, he is very violent, especially with his mom, dad, my husband, and less frequently my kids. Lots of hitting, kicking, spitting and sometimes biting. A new development is that I have heard him call his mom a ***** and an ******* on several occasions in the most venomous voice I have heard from a child. He does not care about time outs and says as much.
1119244 tn?1259113536 It was not a punishment nor have I ever seen it in that way. So I am very responsible with my children and our lives. Its the fact that she is very secretive when she does this. She understands there are consequences for disobeying the rules. She may only be 5 but she is a very smart little girl.
Avatar f tn They almost felt like she had been working out and needed to stretch them. She now has a feeling of pins and needles and numbness in her hands and feet, calves and thighs and her feet feel very cold. UNDER SINGULAIR SIDE EFFECTS THAT YOU MUST TELL YOUR DOCTOR ABOUT RIGHT AWAY IT SAYS: A FEELING OF PINS AND NEEDLES OR NUMBNESS IN ARMS OR LEGS!!! She called her doctor, told him this was happening and he said "OK". That was it, nothing more!!!
Avatar f tn This is why I am so against the drugs they pump into children for 'disorders' and in this case for allergies, and asthma. I feel that parents and doctors should really look into what the side effects are before even accepting or dishing out a prescription. We have had many parents telling us about behavioral and physical problems that are worse than the issue the drugs were prescribed for .
Avatar f tn My eight year old son has apraxia. We assume that it is developmental. He is a twin born at 29 weeks. He did have a grade one brain bleed that resolved itself. He was a very late talker. He is now eight and in second grade. He has made great progress with his speech but still struggles. He's actually a great reader, but does struggle in school. He likes school, but I have the most behavior problems related to homework. We've always struggled with his behavior.
Avatar n tn Since April of 2009, I have been having strange urinary problems. For about 3 weeks, I had increased urinary frequency and urgency, as well as painful urination. This seemed to come with thirst and dry mouth. The frequency and urgency have gone, as well as the increased thirst and dry mouth, but I am still stuck with painful urination. The urine now appears foamy as well. The pain is a burning when urinating, and then I get a lingering pain down what feels like the whole urethral tube.
Avatar f tn I wanted to ask what his speech was like. Is he putting sentences together? Does he want to interact with you or does he just wander around the house destroying stuff? Does he throw tantrums that seem an over reaction to the thing that triggered them. Do you feel he is doing this behaviour to get attention, or does he just want to tip up stuff and isn't at all interested in your reaction and seems either oblivious to you or appears not to understand what you are saying to him?
Avatar f tn I have always had difficulty breathing in high humidity. My doctor told me that I am most likely allergic to mold, and the humidity is causing this to be worse. I have been prescribed an albuterol inhaler, and usually only have to use it about 3 weeks out of the year. Otherwise, I take Singulair year round. This year the humidity is especially high. I have had trouble breathing for over a month now.
