Singulair and allergy testing

Common Questions and Answers about Singulair and allergy testing

singulair

Avatar f tn I find that just taking medications when needed is not really managing my asthma.
Avatar n tn Your runny nose may be a sign of allergic rhinitis and you may have allergic asthma. An examination and testing by an Allergy/Asthma specialist is certainly suggested, and if there are positive allergy results, specific therapy directed at addressing those allergies, may be beneficial. Asthma is a chronic disease so you would be better off getting on a regimen under the direction of a specialist to control it, rather than only using what is termed "rescue" treatments.
Avatar m tn It causes asthma (Arizona Cypress, Mesquite and Palo Verde are the culprits.) Singulair has helped me very successfully in the past. However, I also take a very low dose blood pressure medication (Lisinopril 20mg). I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.
Avatar f tn A careful nasal examination, Allergen-specific testing includes Skin testing, Serum tests for allergy, Allergen challenge and as well as Evaluation for concurrent conditions like Sinusitis and Asthma is necessary and it directs further steps for management. Once, the allergen is known, you need to prevent further exposure to it. Treatment of the attack includes anti histaminic and glucocorticoids against prescription. I suggest you to consult allergy specialist. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn t have an appointmet with my doctor for two weeks. I had been taking singulair and zyrtec but I stopped until I can clear it with my doctor. Are these medicines safe and if not is there a safe one out there?
1154802 tn?1266485720 I also use Symbicort and was using my inhaler quite a bit...every night and 1-3 times during the day. I started taking Singulair a month ago and I don't use my inhaler nearly as much anymore. I've used it 3 times at night in the past month (2 of the times I forgot to take Singulair) and a few random times during the day/evening. Just a thought if you don't already take it and you have allergy issues. Take care.
Avatar f tn He was prescribed neurotin by his neurologist and my immunlogist told me to get him off of the singulair before we gave him the neruotin. He said that the side effect was kind of rare, but possible. Of course we took him off of the singulair, but it hasn't taken the pins and needles away. I hope that he will have some relief at some point. We are planning of giving him the neruontin before the beginning of the school year to take away some of the discomfort. How are you doing now?
Avatar m tn , but have significant experience with RAD as it regards to my two children -- one of whom was triggered extensively by allergy to our cat and only displayed a tiny welt on the allergy test. Did they do a RAST blood test or just skin? Also, it could be something else inside your home -- esp. if you say you are much better outside. Not to drive you crazy with ideas, but here is one that is overlooked oftentimes but can be a trigger as it is for my oldest daughter who is 18. Formeldahyde ..
Avatar n tn I have had allergy testing twice and the same results as you, mold, some trees and weeds. Been to 5 different docs who have all been baffled. I've even had endoscopy to check for some sort of stomach issue. My liver enzymes came back mildly elevated last month. 2 docs have suspected lupus, but this is a difficult diagnosis to make.
Avatar n tn They also get really itchy, but i use allergy eye drops to help that. However, my eyes still continue to get swollen and dry. I am currently taking Allegra-D and Singulair for my allergies. My doctor had prescribed me to Pata-a-Day Eye Drops as well, but they became too expensive and weren't working very well, so i switch to an over the counter brand. My medicine is obviously not working very great either. Does anyone know of an effective treatment that will help me with this? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I have been on many type of antibiotics, use a saline rinse 2-3 times a day, take Nasonex, Astepro, Xyzal, Singulair and headache medicine. Some days are better than other but most days are constant pain, numbness, throbbing. A cat scan showed fluid in maxillary sinuses and some ethnoid sinusitus but my ENT surgeon shows no infection and is now considering a tubinate "snip" as he calls it to because my left turbinate is a bit large.
Avatar f tn I stared on Serevent not Singulair, I have both and keep trying to figure out what is the safest and best line of action for me. The cortosone has been my best friend at keeping the lungs cleared of secreations (sp?). Serevent has some real health issues that concern me, but so far it has been very helpful for me. That is interesting to note that Singulair can cause depression. I wonder if that would be a good choice for me along with the cortosone? I will look into that book, thank you.
Avatar m tn So sorry to hear that. Is he being seen by a pulmonary specialist? Is he taking any sort of preventative medications apart from ventoIin? He obviously needs to have his asthma controlled. I do know that they don't like to over medicate children on steroid puffers. But I do believe they are allowed up to 400ug/day safely before any side effects become apparent, such as slowed growth. Does he have a lot of air born allergies?
Avatar n tn Hello. I have been suffering from the worst seasonal allergies in my life this year. I have itchy watery eyes, nasal congestion, and scratchy throat. I haven't been sleeping well at night for the past 3 weeks because of the nasal congestion and have been waking up with a nasty dry mouth in the morning. I have tried benadryl, claritin 24 hrs tablets, zyrtec (also 24 hr tablet), nasal spray (some kind of anticholinergic solution), Singulair and phenylephrine so far.
645800 tn?1466860955 Losing thirty pounds and a strict no processed diet has helped. Also Zyrtec allergy pills everyday and Singulair. My insurance will not pay for Singulair at all. Rinsing my sinuses with saline and taking Mucinex. I take a lot of Mucinex this time of year. I used to take Benydrl and Chlortrimeton but they dried me out and impacted the mucus. I now hardly even need my Symbicort much less Albuteral. I used to have to sleep in a recliner. Eating was a bear because of choking.
Avatar f tn I would expect the drug to be out of your system by 3 weeks .... little unusual. As long as they are slowly stopping, even if they are coming and going I would just wait it out and double check with the allergist when you see them. You don't normally have to taper off a drug like singulair so it is odd you are getting side effects from stopping it ... I'm wondering if its a consequence and not the cause of the symptoms.
Avatar f tn Try seeing an allergist and getting tested for dust mit allergy which might be from your bed and sheets. Make sure you wash all sheets in hottest setting to kill all dustmites; warm or cold water doesn't kill them. And it's their feces which causes the allergy so washing everything often is important. Also, covering the bed with an allergen cover is important to 'trap' the mite poop that's in your mattress and create a barrier between your clean sheets and mattress.
Avatar n tn Since we discovered the loss - and got the aid - just over a year ago, his behavior and speech have improved. He also has allergy induced asthma. He takes Singulair daily and takes Pulmicort and Xopenex as needed via nebulizer when he starts to show signs of coughing. My husband and I went to his parent-teacher conference yesterday - for pre-school - and we were advised by his team (speech therapist, psychologist, etc.) that we should discuss his behavior with our pediatrician.
796974 tn?1237688273 I'Why is it that everytime that I wash my hair I get allergy? I also get allergy without washing my hair but it only last for 1 or 2 days .
Avatar m tn Some things you may want to try at that point are different medications specifically Dulera or Symbicort instead of the Advair and adding allergy medications and nasal sprays. Allergy testing and shots may be needed as well. Finding the cause of the cough is essential to bringing it under control. Please don't hesitate to ask additional questions. I am glad to help in anyway I can. I know it is a rough road. God bless.
Avatar m tn Hello and hope you are doing well. Recurrent tonsillitis is an indication for tonsillectomy, as the tonsils may harbor the infection which keeps flaring up, or they may develop new infections. Tonsillectomy is advised if there is recurrent streptococcal tonsillitis, recurrent peritonsillar abscess and chronic tonsillitis. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn We will try to stop Singular to see if this is so but I believe this started before Singular was administered for his allergy/asthma therapy and logn before his new brother arrived two months ago. Please advise at I am at my wits end.
