Avatar n tn I took Montelukast (Singulair) for about one month and began having extreme nightmares and panic attacks. I stopped the montelukast immediately, and the nightmares stopped. But the panic attacks continue. I know others have had similar reactions, but I wonder if anyone has found out how to make the effects go away? I have been off the medication for over 3 months now.

Avatar m tn a month ago, ive started doing vigorous exercises which led me to be diagnosed with exercise-induced asthma. the pulmonologist gave me some medicines to take e.g montelukast, ventolin inhaler and symbicort. Xray for the sinus and chest were also ordered which resulted to bilateral nasal congestion and clear chest. The problem is, I have been experiencing symptom of dizziness. Its been a month now and I could not take it anymore. As if I am floating always.
Avatar n tn thanks for the info. Just so you know, I'm taking 'Singulair' (10mg of montelukast sodium daily) for allergies. For preventative purposes, my doctor prescribed me to take a puff of a 'Diskus' inhaler a day (50 mcg salmeterol, 250 mcg fluticasone). Also I take 500 mg Vitamin C supplements every morning. Those are the only meds I take routinely.
Avatar m tn he prescribed me cefunonyme (250mg) + potassium clavulanate(125mg), levocitrizine (10mg) + montelukast (10mg) , povidone iodine gargle for 10 days course otherwise surgery is required. i have taken medicines for 4 days and 50% improvement is noticed. i am afraid of surgery, what to do in this case?
Avatar n tn I did an Internet search and one site gave the generic name as montelukast which is sold in the U.S. under the brand name Singulair. If this is medicaiton you have been prescribed, it is not a steroid. When you say fluticone do you mean fluticasone? If so, it is an inhaled corticosteroid. Medrol is a corticosteroid. I was not able to find any information on formanide. Corticosteroids do have side effects and should not be stopped abruptly.
Avatar m tn Thank you for the advice. I have started using the steroid inhaler, 200 mcg, once a day. The asthma seems under control now. For how long should I continue with the inhaler?
Avatar m tn s the generic of Singulair) and it treats post-nasal drip (which I had for some reason). I have taken Montelukast for well over a year now — one 10mg tablet every night with dinner. It really has been life changing. I hope this helps someone out there!
Avatar m tn ve been taking amplodipine / norvasc 10 mg (antihypertensive) for about a year and a half now and montelukast / singulair 10 mg (leukotriene modifier) for shorter periods (2 months, march - may 2008 and 2 months this year, started in early may and still on it). Last month, after having been on fluoxetine / prozac for about 1 year, I showed some deterioration (more depressive symptoms, more anxiety / panic attacks).
Avatar f tn I have an appointment in 2 weeks with my primary doctor, but I was prescribed these medications by a different doctor who was filling in... albuterol (the emergency inhaler), Singulair (I take 10mg once every night), and one puff twice a day of Dulera with a chamber (I always rinse afterwards). It seems like a lot of meds. I’ve been on Singulair and albuterol for a few weeks, and I’ve been taking Dulera for about a week now.
Avatar f tn Two that would not affect your heart rate would be an inhaled steroid, such as Flovent® HFA Inhalation Aerosol (fluticasone propionate) or another medicine taken by mouth Singulair® (montelukast sodium). You should ask your doctor about these. Good luck.
Avatar n tn The 2 classes are 1) inhaled steroids and 2) orally administered medicines that block biochemical asthma pathways involved in asthma worsening, an example of which is Singulair® (montelukast sodium). A third group of asthma medicines commonly used are, medicines similar to Xopenex® Inhalation Solution (levalbuterol) but long acting for 8 to 12 hours. These medicines might or might not result in hyperactivity and should be the last to be considered, especially for a young child. Good luck.
Avatar m tn This has been going on for 4 months. She is taking antihistamines. They are called montelukast 10mg. She is taking 1 tablet per day for 2 months. Does anyone know what this is and have they experienced anything similar ? How did you fix it etc ? Your input is appreciated. She is late 40s.
Avatar m tn Trying a drug called Montelukast 10mg and things seem to be better. Not sure whether this could be another false dawn but a few days in and all is not too bad. We'll see!!
Avatar f tn In November 2015, I had a really bad allergic reaction to a coworkers perfume and had a very difficult time recovering from it. In February 2016, my doctor prescribed Advair 250/50, once a day and Singulair 10mg at bedtime. Since I've been taking the medication, I have experienced upper respiratory tract infections, sinus infections, rash (bumps on chest and shoulders), blurred vision and extreme hoarseness. My voice was limited to a slight wisper smh.
212161 tn?1599427282 You could also ask your doctor if the use of other asthma/bronchitis medicines such as inhaled steroids and Singulair® (montelukast sodium) might be helpful, along with a cough suppressant. These medicines do not cause palpitation. Another possibility is that you may have whooping cough and, with that, a person may cough for 6 months or more. It is no longer uncommon for an adult to have whooping cough. You might want to ask your doctor about that.
Avatar f tn He or she may recommend over-the-counter medications such as Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or Claritin (loratadine), or prescription medicines such as a daily nasal steroid, such as Flonase (fluticasone), Rhinocort AQ (budesonide), Nasonex (mometasone furoate), or Beconase (beclomethasone), or a leukotriene inhibitor, such as Singulair (montelukast sodium).
